Disembark/Express Walk off Question

This November my husband and I will be going on our third cruise. This is the first time we have a flight that isn't late in the day and are using Disney Transportation so the process is new to me. Our flight is at 12:40...Southwest. Do we have to/should we be doing the express walk off? What time do the Disney buses start leaving for the airport? I am estimating we would want to be on a bus by 8:00? What time does cabanas open?

I know with Southwest Disney can't do the online check in. I will probably pay for the early bird on the flight home so Southwest will check us in.

Thanks

You do not need to do express walkoff--it is easy to pick up your bag in the terminal when you leave early because most people do not leave until later. We had an 11:35 flight out of MCO on southwest and had gobs of time at the airport. I am not sure when cabanas opens but you could always do the early MDR breakfast if you have early dining. We did that, finished eating around 7:30, and when disembarked the terminal was empty, and customs took no time at all.

Cabanas opens at 7:30am but I believe you also can get service at the last restaurant you were served at the night before so that's an option too. I took the bus option from the port. We were done with breakfast around 8:40am and past customs around 9:10am and go to the airport around 10:15ish for a 1:58pm flight so we were super early. There are a bunch of buses leaving through out the morning so you don't have to worry about missing one

I agree, don't do express walk off. Get your breakfast (last "free meal) then it will be time to disembark. 1240 is plenty of time and hurrying will only leave you with time to kill at the airport. Buses to the airport start leaving as they fill. I'll bet you can get there 3 hours early without even trying.

Thanks. I wasn't sure what time the luggage would be ready for pick up if you didn't keep it.

We have late dining so what time would our MDR breakfast be?

We always do express walk off. It seems so much smoother. We always eat in the dining room and it's not a big deal. When we are walking off they are just starting to put the bags out for people. Seems like a lot of time standing around IMO

If you don't want to do express walk off, you could also go to guest services and request an early debarkation group (they will give you new luggage tags). We did that once because we had an early-ish flight to catch, and I think we were the first group cleared for debarkation after express walk off. You'll have to skip your breakfast in the dining room, but you could always go to Cabanas instead.

This will vary depending on what port you are debarking at. Port Canaveral is every mouse for themselves.
