I would like this to be a general discussion of the sale on points needed for DLH and GC.

Possible topics might be:

Could it be extended to other properties? Which ones and why?
Why is it being offered?
How are you going to use it?
Will it help Disney sell DVC?
Were the points too high to start with?
What do you like most about these two resorts?
Could this sale and other "sales" increase the value of our DVC memberships?
Is this the beginning of something big for DVC?
Anthing else related to this sale on points.

FWIW, I believe the points were reduced for DLH & GC soley as a 50th Celebration promotion, similar to the extension of the DDE to passholders for $50 (rather than the usual $75). I don't look for any of the special promotions (at least in their present form) to continue past the end of the 50th Celebration.

Based on past history, I don't look for the points required for the non-DVC options to ever be reduced such that they could be considered a "good deal". IMHO, they are a nice option, good only for an occasional change of pace. For those who want to get the best economical value for every point they own, the non-DVC options (with very, very few exceptions) won't ever be a good choice.

P.S. We have chosen to stay at the DLH on points for 2 nights next March - before our non-Disney Mexican Riviera cruise. First time we've ever used points for anything besides a DVC Resort.
