Hi Folks:D :D

l have just booked for Discovery Cove for Me my Dh and DS , DD &DS all the Kids are over 12...are we allocated 30 mins each person or 30 mins each group. I have tried the seach engine without success...... Any help will be greatly appriciacted

Hi Tabbycat,

The interaction with the dolphins lasts for a maximum of one hour per group - as there is a few of you going together, you should all be together in the one group.

If you do need any more info, please feel free to PM me and I will give you any additional info I can.

Hope this helps.

PS: One thing I definitely recommend is GET THE VIDEO. It is a perfect memento of a perfect day. It is quite dear, but as well as the interaction, you also get a behind the scenes glance at what work they do in the aquatic world.

Pete

We were there last month and I would guess we were in the water for about half an hour. Some of that time is spent with the whole group interacting with the dolphin eg. standing in a row and having the dolphin swim under your outstretched arms. The group was 8 people made up of three families and each family were taken separately into the deeper water for a more individual experience. Each person got to be towed by the dolphin and then to kiss or hug the dolphin so quite a bit of time is spent watching others but it is all part of the experience. If you break it down you don't get much time for the money but it doesn't seem to matter. I would recommend spending some time watching other groups with the dolphins before your time slot as you can get very near.

Hi Tabbycat,

We were there three weeks ago - we were in the water for about 35 mins - you are actually allocated 30 mins. per group. There were six people in our group which is about perfect size.
Although the dolphin swim is over quickly it is absolutely fantastic - a definate not to be missed experience.
The rest of Discovery Cove is wonderful as well - there are so few people around that you are guaranteed a sunbed by the water.
We spent ages snorkelling on the coral reef and with the Rays which also was an unforgettable experience. The whole day is so relaxing and serene it doesn't feel like you are in the middle of Theme Park World !

Tony

PS I'm very jealous - I want to go AGAIN!!!

Tabbycat, you might like to consider splitting yer 'experience' times so you do one and yer husband another ,so you can each video/photo each other's group. We did this when we did DC and have brill video footage of all of us and the dolphins to look back on.
Like Sian said, I'd watch another group's interaction beforehand to get camera angles etc just right - you've spent a lot for the day so gettin the best shots makes it all worthwhile imho.

If you need to know anything about the day, just ask.

We did the dolphin experience as well, and while I enjoyed it, I don't think I'd pay to do it again. I found it very much an assembly line. I really enjoyed the stingray pool and the fresh water river--I could have stayed in there all day long. Get there early and book your dolphin experience as soon as you can. Also, unless you're going to be there during July & Aug, take advantage of the wetsuits--the water was cold.

I agree with Spotty dog, it can work well to split your dolphin swim into two swims , each one being one adult and one child. It kinda doubles your involvement with that aspect and allows you the chance to take your own photos ( although you need a DECENT camera to make the most of this) .
Although DC does have masses to keep you occupied, with the relatively high cost I made sure I was first in and last out of the park :D .

Thankyou so much for all your help, l think we will split the
Dophin swim time so we can get photo's of our own. Is the video worth buying and can you pre view before purchase?

We are doing the swim Easter Sunday and wondered if they do anything special for the day.

We are getting really excited and can't wait:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Thanks again everyone:D :D

Hi Tabbycat.. we went last year and you'll love DC, its like a holiday from your holiday, its so relaxing.

Re your query regarding previewing the video prior to purchase - the short answer is: you can't. You can preview the photos though on a monitor. There is a bit of hard sell immediately after the swim but you CAN say no and walk away.

Enjoy the day :D

We are booked for DC for 28th Feb and we can't wait (wife, son 8, daughter 6 and me). We can't wait either!

How much is the vid???
