Is it fairly easy to get video or take pictures of the family at the Dolphin Swim from the shore? Will they allow a couple to do the swim at separate times so we can take pictures?

I think it's pretty far, so maybe with a really good zoom lens?

Anyone know?

It depends on your location. When I did it, we were positioned on the end along the rocks. There was a viewing area just behind where we had our dolphin swim and there were family/friends of one of the other people in our group taking pics. But aside from our position, I think you would be taking pics from the beach.

We saw plenty of people taking pics from the shore... not sure how good they turned out!

I, too, am hoping find out if we can schedule the dolphin swim separately so someone can take pictures. Can anyone share how the times are allocated? Do you get a say in it?

I don't see it being worth splitting up to do this. Half the fun is enjoying it together. You will only get pictures of the backs of people. DC does a great job of taking photos the entire time, and you get to look at them immediately after your swim and purchase the ones you want.

I understand that. But can it be done? (splitting up)

I think the best way to find out would be to call DC. Or ask when you check in, and if they say no, then it is no. I don't see why they would care. But the dolphin swim and planning takes up a large part of the day. You need to report to your assigned area by a certain time. Then they go through a movie and other information. Then you do the swim. Then go look at your photos. It breaks up the day enough as it is. To break it up twice just takes away more time from the other areas. Having been to DC several times, the dolphin swim was not the highlight of the trip for us. It was enjoying the rest of the park that keeps us coming back. This year, we are not even doing the dolphin swim.

Times are allocated first come first served. If you want a time in the morning, you need to check in early. If you arrive late, the only times that may be available are afternoon.
