We are heading to Orlando in mid September and have one day free. I am keen to go to Discovery Cove but would also like to see the Shamu show at Sea World. I realise it will be an expensive day but does anyone know what time the One Ocean show runs in the off season. Plan would be to be at Discovery Cove first thing and then head over mid afternoon to SeaWorld. Possible?

It might be possible (KBF is a poster over here on the SW forums, and she's the goddess of show times and schedules.......hopefully she will post and give you some of her fantastic guidance) but I wouldn't recommend cutting short your DC day to see One Ocean. Don't get my wrong......I love the One Ocean show, and never miss it on a SW trip. But DC is a place where you will want to stay ALL DAY, open to close (which is 5:30 pm).

You will be astounded at how quickly a day at DC will pass. Its such a wonderful place and comes at such a premium cost-wise that you should savour every minute you can (and stay as long as possible). My guess is that you will enjoy it so much, you will wish it was open even longer than the standard hours because you won't want to leave.

SW is a great park too (one of my faves in Orlando) and has so much to offer. Definitely try and squeeze in a visit, but try giving it its own day if you can. Because there's a ton to see and do besides One Ocean, and its well worth giving up a Disney day to experience it all. And your DC admission would include 14 days of SW admission as well (Aquatica too), so take full advantage of the included extras and spent a whole day :) .

Thanks for the advice. We are travelling from Australia and have our Sea World here - only thing we dont have is the Killer Whales. I guess i'm just trying to squeeze it all since its unlikely we will return again as a family. Was hoping there may be a late One Ocean show we could catch at the end of the day given the tickets to DC include entry to SW. I gather from your reponse that you think DC is worth the expense for the day - i'm assuming its a pretty unique experience.

Thanks Gina for the shoutout! :thumbsup2

During the offseason, there are usually two or three One Ocean shows. Usually the last One Ocean show is a half hour before park close. So mid September, the park closes at 6:00pm. So the Last One Ocean show is most likely at 5:30.

Thanks so much for this info. I know i am going against the recommendation but it would it be possible to leave DC at 4pm and still make it to the One Ocean show - is it walking distance between the parks. We would not have a car with us. Cheers.

Discovery Cove is across the street from Seaworld, so yes it's within Walking distance and you could make the 5:30 show.

To walk through you have to cross a busy street, there is a shuttle between the two that I would take instead.

Thanks. Would you buy tickets for DC now for mid September or is there a chance a discount could become available in the months ahead. How long is a taxi ride from the Universal hotels?

As a general rule, prices for DC will increase as availability decreases, so you are probably best served to buy now.

If a discount does come out, you can cancel your original purchase and rebook at the new rate. We did that for our January 2012 visit and had no problem whatsoever. A 5 minute phone call was all it took :thumbsup2 .

I did Discovery Cove and Sea World in 2009. I was in fact by myself that day, and it was July, so it was hot and the Sea world park was open later than I believe it is other times of the year.

I arrived at DC at the recommended time but was still put at a 1:00 pm time slot(which ended up being perfect).

I had breakfast then spent all morning snorkeling, feeding birds, rays, etc. I went around the "lazy" river a few times, I had lunch, then it was time for my dolphin swim. After the dolphin swim I went around the "lazy" river area about one more time, and back in with the aviary, snorkeling, etc...and was back to the locker area probably by about 3:ish? I'd say by 3:30 I was showered, and bought my photos, hopped on the shuttle and headed over to Sea World.

I saw the Clyde and Seamore(I think that's the name of it) show and the Shamu show I think it was the "Believe" show. I was also able to see most of the animal exhibits. I wasn't able to see Blue Horizons, or go on any rides(I get motion sickness anyway).......I was ready to see the night time "rocking" shamu show(forget the names it's been a while) but that's when it finally started to rain for the night. So I left for the day probably around 9:00 pm.

One of the most relaxing and fun days I've had.

Edit - Oh and if memory serves me correctly, the shuttle came pretty quickly and took me over to Sea World pretty quickly, so it's totally doable.

Thanks to everyone for all your helpful information. Looking forward to it.
