Oh I don't like starting new threads...I tried a search but it wouldn't work this morning. Went through 6 pages of threads and gave up.

Was wondering if this was fun? What was your experience? Who did you meet and what sort of things did you do?

TaTa.

Good question!! I've been thinking about doing this one day while we are there and wasn't sure if it was worth it.

We did it during the Spring of 2006 and it was a blast. It was definitely the highlight of my daughter's birthday trip. We saw Peter Pan, Wendy, Snow White, Mary Poppins and the Penguin, Jesse, woody and a surprise character(don't want to spoil it). We got to ride the carousel, have lunch and Rancho Del Zocalo, go to Tom Sawyer's Island and then ride the train. I believe they've changed it since we went on it and the new tour includes more attractions and fewer charcters. I think you now get a frozen treat instead of lunch. I've heard that you still have lots of fun though. My kids were 5 and 8 when they went on it and we had 4 other kids during our tour. Not sure how old your kids are, but strollers are prohibited on the tour. We had a 3yo in our tour and mom & dad were slightly po'd that they couldn't bring their stroller for him.

We did the tour in November (2007) and it was a blast. It seems like it has changed a lot since the last poster took the tour. It is geared toward kids and those that are young at heart and not afraid to act silly. Dh, both dd's (10 & 8) and I all agree that we would do the tour again next time we go to DL. We did ride a few rides and visit a couple of attractions. I don't want to volunteer too much because the mystery is part of the tour and I don't want to "ruin" it for anybody but I'd be happy to answer any specific questions you may have.

I called the tour reservations people yesterday and they said it's about 2.5 - 3 hours.

They also said that it is geared for ages 3+. However, they do now accomodate strollers. They do not recommend them mainly because the tour itself is not geared for little one like that, but if the stoller is part of a bigger party, they will offer alternate routes for the stoller pusher (around stairs, etc.).

For those who have been on the tour, would you recommend it for a shy nearly 5 year-old? I am taking my daughter for her first trip. She can be shy around new people. If she is quiet would be worth the nearly $100? And would it be ok to do this on day 3 of the trip? Day 1 is just 1/2 day Saturday evening; day 2 is Sunday and I'm guessing they would be busier that day...

Thanks in advance!

If I remember properly, they allow up to 10 people on the tour. We were lucky the day we went and the four of us were the only people that day. My daughters (8 & 10) were pretty quiet at the beginning of the tour but we had two great guides that were understanding. They still talked to the girls but they weren't pushy about it. Dh and I got pretty involved and that helped the girls get more involved.

I would venture to say that it is worth it especially the end of the tour. The tour takes about 2 - 2 1/2 hours so perhaps she will warm up to the situation before it's all over.

I would check on the available dates for the tour for when you're going. The DL website says that it is offered most Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. When we went in November right after Thanksgiving, it was only offered on Saturday.
