Discouraged about posting

I was so excited to find this board. I love Disney, and this board seems to have a lot of great content. But I am actually scared to post. I've only made a few, and the first time I joked with a poster, that person understood the joke, but someone else was ready to jump all over it negatively, assuming I was just being rude. And I just don't understand that. I have never said anything mean or rude to any poster on any board, and it seems like so many people on these forums are ready to fight.

I don't understand why people just don't state their opinion, have fun with one another, without being mean or rude? I've seen this on the child custody forums, which I understand, because that is a sensitive subject. But this is DISNEY! Shouldn't we all just be friends?

I'm just about intimidated enough to just go back to only posting on the TGM forums, because not one time have I seen anyone fight, or be mean, or negative. I would think since our love of Disney brings us all together, we could try to be nice to each other?

Don't be discouraged. Sometimes there are those that will jump fast and hard but I try my best to ignore them... literally! I love the IGNORE feature!

There isn't a board that I've ever seen that didn't have some element of discontentment. Oh my, is that a word? I'm sure someone will let me know!

Seriously, there are so many wonderful DISer's and such valuable information here... stick around. Enjoy ... and hit ignore when you need to!

Don't take anything too personally anywhere on the Internet. Just like there are rude people everywhere, even in the Disney parks, there are going to be nasty people here. I read the thread you were talking about and think perhaps the "attacker" kinda got confused (and commented where it wasn't really his/her business). No worries on your part. I'd just ignore it and move on.

Just ignore those who you don't want to bother reading their posts.

I post to threads I have an interest in or have something to share. I ignore posts that are nasty or negative, but do take to heart constructive critism.

Hang in there.......most of the Dis members are extremely helpful.

I just post when I find something that interests me, and while I have never gotten a negative response, if I did I would ignore it. We can't please everyone, everytime!! Plus I think that some people just like being negative for the heck of it.

Obviously you care about folks feelings, therefore must be good hearted.

Not being in the physical presence of others while posting(stating)opinions, jokes, subjects that can be construed as emotionally charged, etc., is the downside to any forum.

The context of posts, no matter what the subject, will be deciphered according to the emotional state of the individual reading it.

Choose the topics you wish to respond to carefully, realizing your opinion will be just as valid as all others who choose to post. It may rub some the wrong way, but that's the chance one takes when involving themselves in the wonderful world of the in-tor-net!

Agree, you really have to just ignore some it, not be sensitive to any of it.

I mean realistically very few on these forums truly know each other so I would never let anything said by a total stranger offend me.

As to the post in question I have to wonder if the person who said you were rude even read the entire thread. That happens sometimes, someone will come into the thread, not read all of it and make comments that don't make any sense.

I would have probably asked, what was rude about that?

There are some rude people on these boards but thankfully they're in the minority.Most of the people on here are really friendly and helpful...carry on posting and have fun.Anyone being rude to you just ignore them.Remember when someone gives anyone a rude reply there's a lot of people reading it

Don't worry about it and do not get discouraged. It's not worth it. Remember some people just need to cause a little trouble now and then to entertain themselves.

I think at one time or another, we have all had someone not like what we have stated as our opinion. And I think that's what some of the people out there don't understand. We are all entitled to our opinions. That's what makes us different. But in the end we are all on here for a reason...DISNEY!!! I have posted in the past, and have had people not like what I say, and post back to me what they feel. That still doesn't make what I posted wrong. There is always going to be at least one person who doesn't like what you say. Just ignore them and keep posting what you believe (without ) The hardest part about posting on here is that it's in words, so you can't see the posters face, and you sometimes don't know how to take what they are saying. Keep posting!!!!

Remember most DISer are friendly and they will try to help you and make you feel at home on the boards.
As others have said ignore those that behave otherwise

I know what you mean. I am so sensitive that I rarely post or reply. I type a post or reply, read it six times to make sure I have not offended anyone and then erase it. The freindliness of this thread gave me courage to try again.

you are going to find that all over these boards. some people are just cruel and ignorant and say anything, others like me it depends allot on the topic and what is said. There are threads on here where i am sweet as pie and others where you may feel like i am being a "B" not everyone takes jokes and other make mountain out of mole hills, do your posts, respond and don't put so much weight on the responses of others. It is different if your sole purpose on here is to cause trouble but if it's not the don't worry about it.

I posted this on another thread in the past couple of weeks that folks need to cool their jets a little here. This forum is supposed to be a place to learn and share about our favorite place, Our laughing place. I have noticed that in the past 4 or 5 month's their are folks on these baords that say things that they know is going to upset people and seem to enjoy it.
PLEASE DO NOT BE AFRAID to post, you may have that one tidbit that I don't know or have a unique perspective on something that will help somebody else enjoy their trip that much more. Also you will find that there will be plenty of folks that come to yoru defence also.

Please try to enjoy your time on the Dis boards and please return your tray to the original upright position.

I can't add much to the already great replies that have been posted here except to say please don't be afraid to post. You seem to be a very kind hearted and careing person and the world will always need to hear from people like yourself.
