Discounts on Universal Passes

Just the kids get the free days. Universal likes to provide a chance for the 3- 9 year old kids to hit the parks while the parents stay at the hotel. (Joke) :teeth:

All the tickets are for 5 days.

holy moly phamton, now the new threads are gonna start...........only kids get the 5 day pass........................lol

Look for some fantastic new discounts offered by Universal on the website starting on Jan. 30th.

We are 2 adults and 1 teen going President's week. The 2 day, get 3 free would work out great for us. Should I go for it or wait to see what is available on Jan 30th?

New deal was on the local TV news down here in South Florida, and it was even talked about on a morning radio show. So USF is getting some big press coverage with the new ticket deals.

The buy a 2 day adult ticket, get the kid ticket for free seems like a winner. It will bring in the adults that would otherwise go to Disney. The only question, is how long will it last? If they yank it in the middle of the summer people will get angry. They need to let the deal run thru the entire year, and take it away in January.

Usually, "giving away the gate" is seen as a desperation move. Hard to say in this case. You can clearly see they're going after the family people, so it's not the entire gate, just a certain part of it.

So what's the new deal? The kids free offer has been going on for a while now. Is there a new offer I'm missing? I'm not seeing anything on the website.

This looks like a really good deal for my family. I still have 5 pay for 2 get 3 days free bonus passes from last year that haven't been used - no expiration date. WIll the new 5 day for 2 kids free offer have an expiration date? If not, I'll grab them up and use them for summer of 2007. THanks.

I have a question for all the experts. Is the child ticket that is free a two day two park ticket also or is it a one day ticket? Thanks Andie

The adult and childs tickets are both 2 day 2 park tickets with 3 free days....so 5 days all together.

Does anyone have any info on upgrading the kid's tickets for older children. My son is 11 (DD is 7) and would need an adult ticket. I was considering adding a couple of days to our annual WDW trip and checking out Universal (we have never been) since the price is so good, but an extra ticket may nix the visit until the kids are older, and more interested in coasters. Thanks for all your help!

Macraven,
you have so much info and do well explaining all the details. I have a question. We bought the family free for all. 4 nights with 2 adult 2 kid free. My children are 2-8-12 so the 2 year old does not need a pass and the 12 year old is to old to use the child one. I went on and bought an extra adult pass for him and now I am seeing an"adult upgrade" I did not know this exsisted. What is this? SHould I do this and save the ticket I bought for use some other time? Because I have one free child I am not using. :confused3

if i don't have the facts right, let me know.

you have the 2 adult/2 free children tickets.

your 12 year old couldn't use the child ticket so you bought another adult ticket for him.

you can only upgrade the adult tickets to an annual pass. (or 2-3 day pass)
the child ticket, which you now have an extra one, can not be upgraded.

whenever you buy a promo and want to upgrade, it can only be done on the tickets you paid for. since the promo gives you free tickets on kids, they can not be upgraded to an adult.

free tickets can never be upgraded. i would save the kid ticket for another year. no expiration is on those tickets at this time so it will be valid when you do go back and need it.

if you buy a three day pass or two day pass for a child and only use one day on it, that can be upgraded. since you paid for all 3 days, you can go to guest services and upgrade to an adult ticket but there is a charge to do so.
child to adult difference but still cheaper than buying a ticket outright.

many people buy tickets for their kids and then they grow up !!
don't throw those tickets away just because the child is now 10 or above.
they are still valid but you need to upgrade them to reflect the proper ticket.

this is only true for passes/tickets you buy without the free days.

Are there any codes out there for AP renewals.

We had the buy one yr..get one free deal which was great.

Our passes are due to be renewed in April....anyone help???

Are those only in orlando?

And can you explain (likely for the zillionth time, sorry) was a power pass is?

TIA.

power pass is cheaper and has blackout dates.

no discounts on rooms with power pass
no free parking with power pass.

the preferred annual pass has the discounts and free parking.
costs much more.

The Power pass is an annual pass with blackout dates. It is available to everyone but the Wendy's discount coupon and coke discount are for Florida residents only. You can buy the Power Pass though.

The 2-Park Power Pass provides park-to-park access and discounts on 1-Day/1-Park Tickets to Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure. Free self parking and other discounts are NOT included, and blackout dates do apply.

Power Pass Blackout Dates:

Easter/Spring Break: April 10-14, 2006; April 15, 2006 (9:00 am – 5:00 pm)
Summer Weekdays: June 26-30, 2006; July 3-7, 10-14, 17-21, 24-28, 2006; July 31-August 4, 2006
Winter Holidays: December 23, 2006 – January 1, 2007

Thanks phantom and macraven for your replies, i appreciate it!

Regarding Easter / Spring break, the dates listed bring to mind a long time question in my mind ~ is Easter break only considered the week before Easter, as stated above?

We always travel the week after, and while there are crowds, we've always been successful in terms of doing what we wanted to do.

Also, does Disney also consider Easter week the week before, and not after?

TIA.

easter/spring break is a hard one to call.

different regions of the country have different time periods off.

where i work (high school) we are off the last week of march to april 4.

my son has spring break from march 13 and returns to school march 20.

easter this year is april 16.

depending where you live, the time off varies as you can see how it is for me. (chgoland)

if you see on the park calender that the hours are extended on certain days, you can assume they expect larger crowds.

not all schools have their spring break around easter.

it is a hit or miss issue. i would expect the parks to have more people in them anytime from mid march thru easter week.

most colleges in the north end the spring semester around the first or second week of may. i doubt many colleges would have spring break the week around april 16 then. too close to the finals and end of the term.

I looked at the Power Pass blackout dates and saw: Easter/Spring Break: April 10-14, 2006; April 15, 2006 (9:00 am – 5:00 pm)

These makes me believe that this week is the peak week. But really from mid-March through the end of April is pretty busy.
