Discounts on Universal Passes

I dunno, but I'd be thrilled if there were some soft openings in February. Does anyone know if they've started construction?

Do you think it will be before March 17 (my arrival date)..

(sorry to be off the topic)
No one knows...that may be a little early but we can hope.

Yes...they've started construction. I'm going to snap some pictures the next time I'm over there.

here are the discounts for AAA south and it features the Florida resident special mentioned a couple of pages over (same as the Nestle sponsored Florida res disoucnt) of buy a 1-day 1-park ticket and get a 2-day 2-park ticket for that price.......

and here are discounts posted from Mousesavers

Can someone tell me how to get tickets using the Fanclub discount? I am a SAHM, so I don't have a large company that has these discount cards.....and neither does my husband's employer. So is there a way to get access to this ticket option without being employed by a biz that has the actual cards? Thanks!!! I saw that it as around 49 for a 1 day 1 park...which is what we'd be getting, unless they offer that 2 years for the price of 1 annual pass again...we LOVED those :)

i have the fanclub membership also

the website is on your membership card.

you can order tickets off of it but the discount is not that great.

wait, i just reread your question....i'm so blonde sometimes i kill myself...

you get a better deal with the promo tickets than the fan club tickets.

the savings years ago for fan club were great but have gone downhill since about 2000.

yes, the fan club cards are issued through a business and some organizations have them also.

i'll try to pull up the website and see if they have any great discounts going on now.

i'll be back later if the rates are better than the AAA cost or promo.

I sent an email off to our gal in HR and and asked if the company could sign up for the fan club. Explained to her that it's completely free and that it would give employees discounts. No problem. About a 1/2 hour later she emailed me back and we were in! Easy as pie. I also contacted the Fan Club peeps to see about cards and they don't issue them anymore.

Here's my original email:
My employer just signed up for this benefit. I am wondering if there is a membership card that we receive. It seems that one isn't necessary and anyone can click on the "Already a fan club member? Click here" to purchase tickets or make reservations. Do you have to show proof at check in etc?

She said:
We do not issue Fan Club cards, because since you are booking the tickets and vacation packages through the Fan Club website, no card is necessary while here at the parks. While we do not have the link restricted, only companies who sign up for the Fan Club will receive any offers or promotions. If you would like to purchase tickets or vacation packages through the Fan Club website, it is at a ten percent discount. If you have any additional questions, please contact me. Have a great afternoon!
Hope this tidbit helps! The process of getting a company signed up is a quickie and quite easy, it seems. Have your Dh ask, it can't hurt!

i still have my cards from 1993-4-5-6-7- etc.

about 6 years ago they went paperless.
just give the code on those newer ones.

d4est thanks a heap for posting those communications! it was extremely helpful to me and of course everyone checking this thread out.....that email from the Fan Club shows that the discounts are not exclusive to Fan Club members but the discounts and promo announcements are exclusive to a membership group.....

Fan Club gives 10%? That's it?? May as well use AAA.... interesting info tho... ;)

Just ordered the 7 day ticket through AAA for only $85 (no tax) plus a $5.95 certified mail fee. I was pleased to find it since most everywhere I looked was $94.95 to $99.99 plus tax and shipping. And I like that I get the actual tickets (instead of a printout).

These are for DD's Christmas stocking for her honeymoon next June. Should make a nice surprise! :thumbsup2

When I go online, my region is still selling them for $79.99 with no tax or delivery fee. You have to click on "Theme Park" under SAVINGS...not "Universal Orlando" under TRAVEL<---those tickets are $94.99, for whatever reason.

I bought mine over the internet (through Universal) when they had their special for 81.00 p/p for 7 days (both parks). I had to print out my tickets....and that makes me a little nervous. I've been told that on the first day (heard this from this site), I can go to Guest Services at the first park I go to and exchange the paper ones for the hard paper tickets. That will be easier, because if I used the paper ones each time...I've been told that I would have to show my ID and the CC that I purchased them with EVERY TIME I go into the parks.

But the plus side was the cost, and the fact that they didn't expire.

Hope you have a wonderful time on your upcoming trip!

you were told wrong.
you are not asked to see your cc every time you use your 7 day promo passes

On the tickets it says to do that too

This is what it says exactly:
" Present this ticket to the attendant - show your photo ID and credit card used to purchase this ticket for verification"

It's on the front page and it's #3 on "How To Use This Ticket"

Question:......is it true that I can go to guest services and get a 'hard or hard card stock' ticket?

Yes...you can go to GS and get the "paper" tickets exchanged for regular tickets.

Metro West ....thank you. I was hoping that was the case.

By the way ---- why do some avatars/signage say "Proud Redhead"....I'm a redhead too!

My region is $79.99 but shipping is $4 for USPS with delivery confirmation and a $2 handling fee. Then of course everyone has to pay Florida sales tax. The total charge came to about $91. I'm driving down to pick up a ticket tomorrow if anyone needs to know exactly how much it costs. It's 15 minutes away from me so I'll save the $6. If they hadn't have tacked on that $2 handling charge I would have had them mail it since the price of mail vs gas wouldn't have been significant. We have APs for ourselves but we need a ticket for a guest who will be joining us in Orlando.

You are welcome! :teeth:

The "Proud Redhead" tags are those Universal homies who are part of the "redheaded stepchildren" of the DIS. I'm not actually a redhead.
;)

Well I picked them up today at my local AAA office, it came to $84.75 with Georgia sales tax, didn't have to pay Florida tax after all.
