Discounts for booking non DVC

We will be going to WDW in June with another family. We are treating them to a DVC stay Sun. thru Thurs. night at AK - Kidani in a 2 bedroom savanna view room.

We want to stay the weekend Fri. & Sat. nights at Pop Century because we don't have enough points to stay DVC on the weekend.

What is the best way to book a room there with a possible discount?

We had AP's but they expired in Dec. and we plan to get new AP's in June. Can you book an AP discount without actually having one yet?

The other family we're traveling with are AAA members.

I'm thinking we book the AAA rate now and see if a better discount comes along to the general public.

Being DVC members, do we call MS to book this or just call the main CRO number?

DVC only can book cash reservations at DVC resorts. For non-DVC, you would have to call CRO.
