Discounted Annual Passes - Information and Official Exchange Thread

Just returned from WDW...went to Guest Relations in Downtown Disney to see about using one of our pass-along cards...they said I could not, because I couldn't "refer myself" (I wanted to buy a new AP, not renew my existing one...but I wanted to delay activating the new one until November, when my old one expires...couldn't do that.)

The CM there also told me that the referring person must be with the person who's using the pass along card. This seems wrong to me, but there didn't seem to be any way/reason to dispute it since I couldn't use my savings card anyway, due to the timing. I tried to leave my cards at Guest Services, so they could give one to anyone who came along who wanted to buy an AP...they refused to take them, explaining (again) that both the referrer and the person using the card must be present to make the card work.

As noted, I think this CM was probably wrong...but thought I'd pass along my experience of last week ...

that 's too bad that you couldn't refer yourself.. at least you were "there with yourself" at the time of purchase! :lmao:

has anyone else had this problem? sure does change the possibility of us being able to use these cards. No matter what I'm getting myself an AP but I won't be going till july 8 (45 days!) to share my experience.

Anybody else use theirs yet? What was your experience like?

While some of the info is incorrect, some info is. No the AP referral person does not have to be with you....that's why the letter to us AP holders tells us to GIVE the cards to others (sort of like a "referral"). As for delaying your pass....that is a no go. You must purchase a new AP at WDW locations and it must be an active AP (no vouchers to activate later). ANd I figured you could not refer yourself. Since your referral has your information on it (name and AP ID info) I didn't think this would be possible. I would think if you are a 2 AP family (like us) you could refer each other. My AP expires in October, but believe me, if it had expired in August, I would've looked into buying a new one in July. I have both sets of FAQ on my computer that I've referred to and have emailed to others several times now.

it also states that it must be done at a Park Gate . I know many use DTD for Ticketing but I think in the FAQ it states you can't . So that might have been another problem and why the answers are what they are.

I have 2 discount cards to share - PM me and I will mail them right out if anyone can use them!

Sorry if this question has been asked but I would like to know the answer.
We are traveling with friends at the end of June who purchased the buy 4 get 3 free package. If they decide to upgrade their tickets to an annual pass, would they receive a discount with the pass around card as well?

Yes, they should be able to use it to upgrade their passes to AP's.

If you need another card, let me know. I have a few still available. :)

Yes, that is answered in the FAQ:

"Can I upgrade my MYW ticket to an Annual Pass and the the 10% discounts? YES, just bring your multi-day ticket and discount card to guest relations"

Also, in case anyone doesn't know, you can also use your FREE birthday ticket to upgrade to an AP and get the 10% discount (this is question #2 of the FAQ). (If you birthday falls between May 1-July 31.)

I have both sets of FAQ -- one for the GP and one for AP holders.

There are alot of guidelines, but overall, this is a great promotion.

Feel free to email me at jjtnana@aol.com for a card or any information or copy of the FAQ. I believe post #1 that Cheshire Figment has pretty much covers everything and continues to be updated.

That's a crock of you know what. The pass alongs would be COMPLETELY useless to all of us if the passholder was required to be standing there holding the hand of the new ap purchaser. In addition, that condition appears nowhere in the paperwork.

March yourself right back there and demand to talk to somebody who doesn't have their head up their hoo ha!

I have 3 left - just PM if you need one and I'll mail it out right away.

I just returned from WDW with my husband and daughter and new son-in-law. On May 14, we went to the Guest Relations at Studios to see about upgrading the kids' 4/3 tickets (we were there on a separate reservation) using our AP discount card. The cast member was very excited -- she said it was the first time anyone in her area had "done one," and, although there was alot of paperwork involved (it took about 10 minutes), she was able to use our discount for them. So, if you are planning to upgrade from the 4/3, don't worry: it can be done. It's just a little slow!

thanks for the info! sounds great! :thumbsup2

Still one left here too.....I will be at WDW May 30-June 6 if anyone wants a hand delivered one.
If no one takes it, in the scrap book it goes :rotfl: The picture is cute!!

I have a few discount AP cards too. Feel free to PM me and I'll send 'em right out. Talk to your friends/co-workers/people you worship with/kid's friends' parents at [insert sport/activity of choice] and let them know you can get them a card if they want one. In this economy, let's try to help out everyone!

Best Wishes & Pixie Dust!
