discount for teachers?

I have heard that Disney gives a discount for teachers but have been unable to locate any information about this. Does anyone know anything about this or where I can get more information?

Yes, Swan/Dolphin are the only ones who do this. It seems like a great deal and I will use it someday.

Yes, it is only the Swan/Dolphin that give teacher discounts, but some blackout dates apply. I have never been able to use it because the discounts usually do not apply during school vacations. It does apply at certain times during the summer, but I would not like the summer heat.

We're staying at the Dolphin in April (Easter week) and were able to get the teacher rate of $175. I was happy with it!

Yes...we got the teacher rate of $165 for May at the Dolphin.

I think they actulaly have it all year just that at regular vacation times it sells out fast. If you like that area and are looking for a deal try renting points from a DVC member. We pay less for OKW then we did the time we stayed at the Swan Dolphin on my teachers discount. Boardwalk villas and Beach club cost a little more than OKW but might still be a good idea. Plus you get the kitchenettes.

Just don't forget that members sell their points based on a dollar amount per point. Weekends (Fri. and Sat.) are much more point-costly than a weeknight. So that may make a big difference in price.

What dates exactly? The lowest I can find is $229 (April 12-17). :\ Did you call the hotel direct?

I had, but obviously missed the part that shows where it looks like our dates aren't available for the teacher discount.

I would try the Swan and Dolphin's main website or call the hotel directly. I got a teacher's discount on this. I have found that dreamsunlimited does not always list what is available. I got the teacher's rate of 175.00 for the first week of March.
