I have seen discount codes for Wilderness cabins but do they offer discounts on Old Key West or Wilderness Lodge or Beach Club Villas? Has anyone ever seen any for this typr of resort?

The Fort wilderness cabins are in the home away from home catagory but they are not DVC resorts -- this is most likely the reason you have seen discount codes for them. I could be wrong, but I don't think you'll see any codes for DVC resorts as they want you to buy into DVC as a member, not stay at a discounted rate.

That being said, if you are looking for a less expensive way to stay at the DVC resorts (such as OKW or BWV's for example) then I would check out the DVC rent/trade board here on the disboards. It can really be much less expensive.;)

Good luck!

Yes they do offer discounts on Home Away From Home Resorts or at least they have in the past. My husband and I stayed last May at the BWV with an AP discount, for a 1 BR villa. It was wonderful!

I have seen codes on Old Key West, Wilderness Lodge Villas and Boardwalk Villas.

You just have to watch for them and if a code comes out you have to ask if it can be applied to the Home Away From Home Resort you are interested in.

Check WDW site and click on summer sales and select your Home away from home. They are offering approx a $100 off a 1 bedroom villa 4/27 to 7/3.

Keep in mind that only a limited number of rooms at the DVC resorts are available for cash reservations, and that can affect the availability of discounted rates as well. (No need for discounts if they can move the limited number of cash rooms at rack rates!) Rooms not reserved by members (if any) are released for cash reservations 60 days in advance.

But yes there are sometimes code discounts at the DVC resorts. In principle any code *could* give a discount at them if the resort decides to participate -- you can always ask. Old Key West with the largest number of rooms is the most likely to give discounts.

Rooms not reserved by members (if any) are released for cash reservations 60 days in advance.

I've been told this, but how is that I'm able to make reservations 6 months or more in advance if they only release rooms 60 days in advance? The CM I talked to said that they hold a certain number in reserve for regular reservations, but I never count too much on what the CM's say.;)

Disney keeps an ownership interest of approximately 4% in each the DVC resorts. The rooms represented by that ownership interest are often rented to the general public (via CRO) for cash.

Also, if DVC members use their onwership interest for stays at certain non-DVC resort options (such as the DCL or the GF, for example), DVC sends CRO the equivalent number of DVC resort nights to rent for cash to "pay" for the member's non-DVC choice.

Those are two of the reasons why someone might be able to rent a DVC room for cash more than 60 days ahead of arrival.

HTH.

Clarification: Some rooms are available for cash from the start, though this may be as little as 4% ot the total number of rooms. Additional rooms may be released for cash reservation 60 days in advance if they have not been reserved by members. Conceivably rooms may become available for cash at other times as well; I'm not an expert!

The DVC resorts are primarily for the use of DVC members. The general public is welcome when excess rooms are available but member reservations have first priority. If you "rent points" from a member (http://www.wdwinfo.com/dvc/RentTrade-FAQ.htm), you can take advantage of the member's priority (and likely save money as well).
