2014 is turning into the year of the discontinued item. Not a big deal, just kind of amusing that I want to spend money, but I can't

Schwans quy shows up yesterday, I had pre-ordered Brautwurst. They have been discontinued. Odd you would discontinue Brautwurst 2 weeks before the Super Bowl. Driver said he had $1,000 worth of pre-orders on his route alone. :confused3

Go to JCPenney today to buy bath towels/accessories. Can't get a matching bath mat in the same shade of blue as the towels, because the bath mat in that color has been discontinued, but not the towels.:confused3

Already whined about Sharp discontinuing all colors in it's drawer microwaves, only selling stainless steel now. :confused3

I do feel sorry for guys like the Schwans guy, that decision took $60 in commission on pre-sold items right out of his pocket.

No bratwurst? :scared1: My local butcher must have 2 dozen kinds!!

Completely out of the blue L'Oreal has discontinued a cosmetic I've used exclusively for 8 years. Overnight it went poof from every store I looked in and their website is as if it never existed. I am entirely a creature of habit and extremely resistant to change - I may need to call in sick to work on Monday! :worried:

That has happened to me twice with haircolor, one I was able to find on line at a closeout place for a while but then I had to find a new one and I was not happy.

L'Oreal must be discontinuing a lot of their product line. I went to buy some of their mega spritz hair spray and couldn't find it anywhere- it's been replaced by some new products but the ingredients are completely different and they have a much stronger scent. I use all Aveda products for my hair except this hair spray- It works great, been using it for over a decade. Anyways I stocked up from amazon before it's gone forever. I don't know what I'll use next year when my supply runs out . I only bought 6 bottles because the price jumped so much :(

I can guarantee that if my DH or I find something we really like, it will be discontinued.

Oreo used to make Coffee flavor oreos. My DH thought those were the best. They didn't last long. Recently he found these really good fruit snacks - Florida's Natural Fruit Snack. Better tasting than Welch's fruit snacks. They are gone too. Fiber One had a Cinnamon roll flavor bar. Have tried 3 different places for it and cannot find it again. My DD bought some Fiber One Kids bars for my GDD and now we can't find them either.

I have decided that I am not going to voice that I like something because otherwise it will disappear.

A lot of products are discontinued for a reason like a color on the box is changing or there is an ingredient change. The manufacturer will sell out the product and wa la next thing you know, its back in stores but different.

Kraft used to make a chicken noodles in box side dish. Looked like a Mac n Cheese box, but was the chicken flavor. Those things were the best things I ever ate. I loved them. I haven't found them in years, but I always look. I even try a different brand if I happen to see one, hoping they taste similar. Nothing so far.

I completely agree about the Kraft chicken noodles. They were hard enough to find to begin with but I was so disappointed when they were discontinued. I found a copycat recipe online but I haven't gotten around to trying it yet.

Weren't they? I could eat a whole box myself!

Would you mind sharing the recipe? Maybe I can get around to trying it as well.

Recently:

Rembrandt Gentle Toothpaste - Best non-SLS toothpaste on the market. Didn't taste weird. It's gone.

Sephora Atomic Volume Mascara - Nice everday mascara that doesn't bother my eyes.

I won't even get into the hair products that have been discontinued or changed.

I hate when something I really like is discontinued. :(

I wish there was some way of knowing it was going to happen, so you could stock up on the item.

There was a Coffeemate creamer I really loved, that they discontinued. I found I could still buy some on Amazon but at a ridiculously inflated price so I declined. I would have enjoyed my last container of it even more though, had I known it was going to be the last one I could get. :(

I have ranted about this before. It is so frustrating.

Things I miss terribly: Pacquins hand and body cream. Ok, then I found Plexo which worked just as well - now gone. Now using and rotating among 3 different ones, all more expensive.

Alcon contact lens solution for hard contact lenses. I have had to change three times since then as each becomes discontinued. Former eye dr. had no suggestions except Boston brand which my eyes cannot tolerate. So I used Walmart brand which seemed to be ok - until it started irritating my eyes. Found a new eye dr. and she switched me to clear care which so far is working very well.

The old albuterol inhalers for asthma. Apparently all the asthmatics were killing the ozone layer with the CFC propellant in the old inhalers . The new ones, according to DS, don't work quite as well as the old.

I know there were other things, but these stick out most to me.

I would talk to the store managers where you shop because I just saw all but the Oreos at our target. You could also check Amazon & see if you can buy online.

My favorite ice cream ever was Sticky Toffee Pudding from Haagen das. I discovered it shortly before they discontinued the flavor

What is it with blue? I went to JoAnns to buy some of the same satin they have had for at least 9 years. Both colors of blue have now been discontinued. No blue left in the entire line except turquoise. I must have missed the memo about blue being out of style or something.

V-8 made an iced tea flavor Splash. I think it was iced tea with lemon. Loved it. Of course they discontinued it. Disappeared from shelves completely. I even looked it up on their website (I liked it that much I was trying to find other locations where they might sell it Nope. Discontinued.

I am still angry that Clinique discontinued the compact city base foundation I have used for almost 30 years.

I have now tried THREE different expensive alternatives and have been beyond disappointed with ALL of them. One $35 compact from another expensive cosmetic counter place fell apart within weeks. ARGH!

I am missing the City Stick foundation. I just liked to throw it in my purse and use it for touch ups when needed.

Have you tried the Even better compact makeup? (I work for clinique)

We still get lots of requests for the city stick. They discontinued it once and they brought it back.
