I just got an email from Deann, tnmom25. She is ok!!!!!! I'm so relieved to find out she is ok, I'm crying! As most of you know, Deann lives in Tennesse, where the tornados hit the other day.

Here's her email:

I'm just sending this email out to let you know that we are all fine, house and all :) The girls and I are staying at my mother's house until we get power and phones restored. Greg is staying at the house at night to keep an eye on things and take care of the animals.

Please say a prayer for those that lost everything. We were very lucky!

Can I actually be caught up?? Ya'll are just so fast! I went to the dentist yesterday morning and had two wisdom teeth removed, so I wasn't able to get on the board last night. So much cute stuff posted!

ANGELA CAMELOTCATS I received my fabric today! Thank you so much!!!! I can't wait to use it!

I finished the Ariel top. Here it is:

What pattern did you use. I really like your top! Too cute!

I guess I could jump on the weight loss support bandwagon. I started working out and changed my diet last week. I didn't get to go to the gym yesterday and I can't go today. But, having teeth removed does limit what you can eat. So, at least that is a good thing!

This looks great!!!! I love seeing these boy outfits!!! You son is so adorable!!!!!

I think I like him in this better than the Wendy nightgown!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
(I know, different kid! )
No you are thinking of the right kid

Here he is as Wendy

DD is actually really excited, she was being silly about posing, she won't take the top off though. I am toying with the idea of a pair of embellished jeans or a twirl skirt. I've got the stuff to do the jeans here but would need more fabric for the skirt, I'm having a hard time deciding. I've never taken apart a pair of jeans to embellish them and while they are second hand jeans, I'm not sure I want to get them apart only to find out I can't get them back together. I'm just being a big chicken.

THis is really cute. I like the fabric you used for the sleeves and ruffles.
Ok so someone said that Georgia would even look cute in a paper bag. well here is the proof she does! hahaha

Jump on! There's plenty of room! And after all this weight loss there will be even more!:rotfl:

All day, every day?! Oh Teresa, I forgot that's how they do it over there.
Armida and Corey both went all day every other day, so this is going to be really really hard!

He looks so much older as Captain Hook!!!

I hope Celerystalker is ok, I didn't realize she lived there too!

The blue fabric is sparkly, I got it at Walmart, there are about 8 different colors in that same pattern. The Ariel is actually a wall hanging panel that I got at Walmart. I used the panel to avoid having to do such a large applique. The great thing about the wall hanging panel is that it has some pink flowers and a couple of Flounders that went with the panel that can be turned into smaller appliques for pants or anything else.

I think I'm going to go ahead with the pants for the peasant top and I'll be using at couple of the Flounders and more than a couple of the flowers.

I

I'm going to have to try that!!

Here is the recipe I use. Super easy. It's kind of like edible playdough. My kids love playing with the scraps...

A very tasty alternative to buttercream icing or regular fondant.
Read the full instruction and photos here!
16 oz white marshmallows
2 tb water
2 lb icing sugar (approx. 8 cups confectioners' or powdered sugar)
(DO NOT USE ALL OF THE SUGAR)
1. Melt marshmallows and water in a double boiler or microwave.
Heat until melted.

2. Place half of the sugar in a bowl. Make a well in the middle.
Pour melted marshmallow in and mix.

3. Add remaining sugar and continue kneading. (add more powedered sugar in tablespoons as you are kneading. Micture should not be sticky)

TIPS
---grease your hands and the bowl.
Also, let this stuff rest overnight.
It will be pretty stiff when you try to knead it again, but it can be microwaved for five to ten seconds (start off with 5) and it will soften right up and be perfect for rolling out and playing with.

Discard all the crusty residues.

TO USE
if fondant is too hard, place about 30 sec. in microwave. Dust work table with cornstarch, and knead for a couple of minutes.
Then roll as thin as you want with rolling pin dusted in cornstarch. To avoid it from stickin to your work surface, turn rolled dough frequently, and continue dusting with cornstarch until you have reached desired thinnes.
To color: Separate small amounts of fondant & color with paste food colours to the desired tone. Knead until colour is smooth and completely uniform.
This fondant does not set fast at all. When you have formed your flowers, set them on a curved surface so they don't loose their shape (hang them upside down) It will not be as perfect as Gum Paste, but it will work. Also, start making flowers at least two days in advance to allow them to set.

See you know you have a cute kid when you can dress them in a paper sack and they still look good.

Thanks for the recipe. It sounds tastey. I refuse to use regular fondant because it eats like playdoh. At the bakery where I worked instead of using cornstarch (which can dry) we would use a silicon mat and use shortening on the rolling pin. The mat made it easier to pick the fondant up and flip it onto the cake. Don't know if it would work with this kind of icing though.

This is one of my favorite cakes that I made. The reason it was one of my favorites is because it was totally my design (except for the wagon wheels). OT, but I wanted to share cause everybody else was sharing cake stuff.

I didn't realize she was affected! I live in the same general area as tnmom, but we're about 30 minutes apart. Glad to know she's safe!
There was damage in my area (my best friend's church was completely destroyed), but no deaths in my immediate vicinity. I'm out of town this week, so I was spared even the scare.

So cute. I'm taking a fondant class now and having so much fun with it. Your cake is amazing.

Sooo glad you and your family are ok! Sorry to hear about your friend's church!

Once again, I am hopelessly behind.

Teresa, I am glad you are feeling better. Your pictures from the movie are so cute.

Heather, I am so sorry about Pierre. I am glad that you are able to find him a new home (without kids!).

The cakes are cute!

Here is my attempt at the simplicity top. I used some $1/yard fabric I picked up at the end of last summer. It is ok, except I could see how it totally wouldn't work if you had a bigger bust. It seems like it is made for a junior, a little tight over the hips. I bought the prettiest Michael Miller fabric that I wanted to make matching dress/top for Megan and me and this will not be the top. I guess I'll keep trying.

Sorry for the face, I was trying not to sneeze! I guess I should have asked Jacob to stand up to take the picture. And you can't see him, but Scrappy is right on my feet (I cropped him out!).

I got goodies today!!!! My mail lady brought a package to my door today and look what was inside!! 2 minutes after opening the package, this happened. Guess she squeezed it a little too hard.
