This is one of my favorite cakes that I made. The reason it was one of my favorites is because it was totally my design (except for the wagon wheels). OT, but I wanted to share cause everybody else was sharing cake stuff.

I really like this cake! It is cute and it looks delicious!

Once again, I am hopelessly behind.

Teresa, I am glad you are feeling better. Your pictures from the movie are so cute.

Heather, I am so sorry about Pierre. I am glad that you are able to find him a new home (without kids!).

The cakes are cute!

Here is my attempt at the simplicity top. I used some $1/yard fabric I picked up at the end of last summer. It is ok, except I could see how it totally wouldn't work if you had a bigger bust. It seems like it is made for a junior, a little tight over the hips. I bought the prettiest Michael Miller fabric that I wanted to make matching dress/top for Megan and me and this will not be the top. I guess I'll keep trying.

Sorry for the face, I was trying not to sneeze! I guess I should have asked Jacob to stand up to take the picture. And you can't see him, but Scrappy is right on my feet (I cropped him out!).
that is really cute I understand the bust part Maybe that is why my spongie one did not turn out i never thought of that??? what no scrappy? i need my scrappy fix ...

I got goodies today!!!! My mail lady brought a package to my door today and look what was inside!! 2 minutes after opening the package, this happened. Guess she squeezed it a little too hard.

Do not gasp or reply with 2 yr old in the room ... to anyone's post's I saw this and i let out a loud gasp and said "OH No cindeyrella lost her head" and Mayson my parrot heard and is walking around saying "Bonk cindyellee lost her head and doing the cutest lil head fall off imitation ...
Hopefully you can fix it ...

Steph, I think this looks good on you! I definitely could not make that, my chest would be OUT!

I have been looking at you guys post for the past couple days and was inspired to start learning how to sew. I had bought an old singer at a yard sale last year. After fooling with it for about an hour, I was able to sew one line. Then it broke. So can you recommend a good machine for a beginer. Also how did you learn to sew. Was it trial and error, did you have someone teach you, is there a website or book to read?

thanks for all your help

My Singer sewing machine came with a manual that tells you how to sew. In fact I have the manual in PDF form if you want it. My machine is a Singer Simple and it is very simple to use, but has the capability of doing more things as you learn. It only cost around $100 at Wal-Mart.

You might want to have it looked at and see if it can be fixed. I've spent years sewing with my mom's 1968 Singer, love it, it's practically indestructible, but it needed work periodically.

I have a Brother 6000i and I love it, it's definitely different than the old Singer. I got it for a little under $200 at Walmart, it's been a good machine, I've had it about a year, and I use it a lot.

ok, maybe I did not share her other valentines photos. here is some pics

I love this outfit! I am a little behind here, flu is going through my house:sick: I did cut out pieces to make DD a valentine's skirt and top, but haven't gotten to sewing it yet. Hopefully I can get back to it tomorrow! As usual you guys have posted some really cute stuff. I really hate getting behind on this thread, it takes a while to catch up!

I bought my 10 year old a refurbished computerized brother cs 6000 on Overstock.com. I think I got a fairly good deal, and it seems like a great machine for a beginner so far.

I think that a computerized looks more complicated, but you will end up finding it easier to work with. They are much more self adjusting. I also recomend a machine with a speed setting. It is nice to know that your machine won't "take off" on you.

I want to thank everyone for all of the compliments on my cake. I'm glad to see that other people like it too. It was the owner's idea to do it as a western wedding cake, but really I think it would have been better for a boy's birthday.

I finished the Ariel top. Here it is:

DD is actually really excited, she was being silly about posing, she won't take the top off though. I am toying with the idea of a pair of embellished jeans or a twirl skirt. I've got the stuff to do the jeans here but would need more fabric for the skirt, I'm having a hard time deciding. I've never taken apart a pair of jeans to embellish them and while they are second hand jeans, I'm not sure I want to get them apart only to find out I can't get them back together. I'm just being a big chicken.

That is so cute! I have yet to make my peasant top w/my pillowcase...agh! I love the Ariel...and your dd is adorable!!!

love the cap'n hook outfit. cute.
yea we will all be weight cheerleaders for each other. That rocks:thumbsup2 i mostly lurk on the weight thread and post my (weight loss or gain) on Friday but other than that i do not chat a whole lot .

I just got back registering my Camden for Kindergarten :sad1: and on a good note:cool1: i was also able to put him in all day;) Which he is gonna love:woohoo: :woohoo: and it will be a nice break for me so it will be just me and Mayson all day..:cloud9:

ALL DAY kindergarten? JEALOUS! Seli, my 12 year old, went all day (when we lived in FL) and it was AWESOME! She did amazingly well and has totally benefitted ever since! None of my other kids were able to go all day...It'll be good for Camden AND for you!!!
On a side note, I keep forgeting to tell you...my SIL's are in love with twilightmoms! They are totally addicted....:rotfl: :rotfl: They've already got the window clings in their cars!!! SO! Big thanks for that!!! I haven't signed up...one obsession at a time....

Are you for real? WOW!!!! :worship: :worship: :worship:
Way too much talent for one person, missie!!!!

Here's what I've been working on/obsessing over....

customs015.jpg

Here's Saylor wearing it...a bit big, obviously....but still!

customs003-1.jpg

My FIRST attempt at AG clothes...yeesh! They take as long as big girl clothes!
customs006.jpg

My first try at this pattern...I LOVE the pattern, but I made the skirt too long...dangit!!!
customs010.jpg

I just bought this pattern (it's the YCMT wrap skirt) and used leftover fabric from the stripwork...Super easy and I think it's pretty cute!
customs011.jpg

Well, girlies, I'm off to Vegas for the weekend...Seli is competing in nationals for cheer...so! We'll be rah rahing for the next few days....have a great weekend! I'll try to catch up when we get home....woo hoo!!!
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Can I just tell you guys how much I love shirring!?!?!?! I wouldn't have had the nerve to try it if it wasn't for y'all. So thank you!! I made my middle daughter a 2 tier skirt and then she said she wanted a shirt so I made her a peasant top and lengthened the sleeves a little. I shirred the sleeves and across the chest. But now I can't decide if I should put the shirring in the front or on the back. :confused3 I'll include pics of both sides and tell me what you think. Oh, and the classic pooh is that lightweight corduroy.

th_jaceyoutfit2Small.jpg

I love it!!! I think the shirring should go in the back, personally.

Now, seriously, I NEED to know where you got that Pooh fabric. I just  classic Pooh. I've done 2 nurseries in it & I have an outfit on the planning table.

For all of you that have read the Twilight books: do you happen to have the font she uses for the titles? Or a link to where I could get it for free? I work at the library here & we're planning a thing for when the book comes out in August & we were hoping to use the same font, but I couldn't find it for free anywhere.

TIA

I've been eyeing that wrap skirt for awhile! It's really cute!

The fabric actually came from a friend of mine. She was cleaning out her stash and knew that I would like it. I remember being with her when she bought it. It was a few years ago though. It was at either Hancocks or Joanns. Sorry I can't be of more help. :(

That is SOOOOOO WRONG!!!!!! I literally shuddered when I read that!!!
I am so sorry, but I remember when my boss took that picture and that was a duplicate of a real cake. The icing is real, but the "cake" is styrofoam. The "dummy" was on display in the front window of the bakery for about a week or two. I can post some that are real cake if you would like.

wc066.jpg
This is a real wedding cake that I did. It's just a real simple one. I've done better looking ones. I think that my boss took the picture because it was my first wedding cake I did with columns in it.

24.jpg

My first basketweave.
18.jpg

My first sculpted duck. I'll see if I can find a pic of the goose that I did and won an award for.

Love the western cake! It fits in great here in Texas!

Can I join the weight watchers group in about a year and a half? I've got to finish cooking up this baby and I breast feed for a year during which I lose all of my weight initially and then it comes to a screeching halt. :confused3 I thought breast feeding was supposed to help you lose weight but it doesn't work for me. Thank God I don't put on a lot of weight during pregnancy since I'm carrying some extra cushioning around to start off with!

Great outfits and cakes ladies!!!!! :thumbsup2 Hope everyone is feeling better! Heather thanks for the update on tnmom! Glad everyone is alright! OK I am off to work! See you all this weekend!
