I LOVE these overalls from afar but up close you can really see how unsteady my embroidery is. Poor Giselle's jaw line is all over the place.
overallsahv4.jpg

Did you piece together the Giselle applique or is it a pillow case? My DD saw that and wants me to do one for her too. She's in love with Giselle, funny since she's never seen the movie, but she really wants me to make her the Giselle overalls.

Thanks!

Thank you guys so much for all of your support about Pierre. It has been an emotional day and I really appreciate none of you blaming me for any of this. You really have made me feel a lot better. :grouphug: I've contacted several rescue groups, including a schnauzer rescue. But, the schnauzer rescue is 3 hours away and I don't know if they'll be able to help.

Ohmygoodnesss, that is adorable!!! I love what you did with the ribbon, and the color combo is awesome. Thanks so much for sharing! Where did you find brown tulle? Was it in a roll or by the yard? Our JoAnn's only has 4 or 5 colors on the roll, and occasionally I'll find some unusual colors in the bin.

Thank you!! I got the brown sparkly tulle on a bolt at WalMart for $1.29/yard.

why won't the original owner take him back. did you get him from a breeder. I am telling you this, not to upset you but if they know he bit a child he will not be taken and he may be put down. take him back to the lady. If she refuses over the phone, drive over there.
Lori
I got him for free from a woman on craigslist. She has since moved to Canada and isn't answering my e-mails. She lived 2 1/2 hours away before she moved. I will not be taking him to a kill shelter because I know they would most likely put him to sleep. He would be a great dog for an older couple, so there is not way I could do that to him.

:grouphug: So sorry to hear that Heather- I would go with the humane society too! They are great- And they should take him as is- with out any further expense from you. I know how excited you were!! And poor little Sawyer I bet he was so scared!
Our humane society only takes dogs from the pound. They don't have a shelter or foster homes for the dogs.

Just an FYI...

M_I_C_K_E_Y on the creative designs thread has apparently been contacted by a Disney Representive and told that she is in violation of copyright infringement for the designs that she has been making. It doesn't appear that any of the other designers have been contacted at this time. She will no longer be designing and many of the other designers are following suit. Any of you selling custom Disney creations on EBAY or otherwise may also be at risk. We, on the creative designs forum, had always been under the understanding that as long as we were not profiting from our designs that we were not breaking any laws. Since I have no idea what the specifics of the phone call was to the designer I don't know what angle Disney is taking. I sincerely hope that this is just a fluke as I so enjoy all the Disney creations here and on the design forum that this does not become an issue. I know that most of us primarily make items for our own family and our own use. I hope that protects us, but I'm truly confused now. If any has any further information please let us know.

That is awful!! I can't believe they could get in trouble for making designs for free! That's just rediculous!!

Thanks for letting a lurker share with all of you!!! Thank you again for all your insperation!

I thought you were celerystalker! All of these outfits are just fantastic!! You did such a great job on them! Thank you for sharing the pictures!

Since I couldn't get on the boards last night I snooped around in the bookmarks. :) I found this tute for gathering with clear elastic. http://www.indietutes.blogspot.com/2007/07/gathering-with-clear-elastic.html I've never seen such a thing! Where do you find clear elastic? It looks like it would take the tedious work out of hand gathering my ruffles.

OMG I can actually help with something :) Clear elastic is used alot in cloth diaper making - it's also known as lastin (it's the stuff that is also used in making bra's etc).

Try some of these diaper shops in the US
http://www.sewshoppe.com/elastic.shtml
http://www.diapercuts.com/store/WsDefault.asp?Cat=Elastic

if you do a search for lastin or diaper elastic it should bring up other stuff :)

Though in saying that I've found I can get a nice ruffle with shirring elastic and it is easy enough to pull out after :)

now back to read all the posts :)

Oh come on now Tom...you sew circles around me. I'm a pedal to the metal kind of girl and like to make things very quickly. Your clothes look like an engineer helped plan every stitch. They always look perfect!! I'm so jealous..also I'm still waiting for your dd to donate some hair to me...I can't seem to get it to grow past the middle of my back. I only need a foot or so..:rotfl:

I love you clothes SO much...that little sailor dress is just too cute!!! Have you ever considered trying out for Project Runway?! So not kidding!

If I had seen the pillow case first I so would have just used that!! ;) It's all pieced together except for her face. I cheated and made her eyes, nose, and mouth an iron on. I can post an up close pick if you want.

WOW. How upsetting. What a bummer. I LOVE all the designs on that board. I can't imagine why Disney cares when you are not selling.

I am a lurker that has been lurking for about a year, so I feel like I know most of you on here. I'm Susan, no kids and I sew. One of my "customers" was who told me to check out this website and I helped her do some things for 2 of her disney trips.
Two things I wanted to mention.
1. Schnauzers are really good dogs but they have an attitude. He thought he was protecting you from your little boy. We have 2 and one of them I have to put up everytime we have company. She's visually impaired and doesn't like one of my little cousins at all, but generally does really well with kids. The other one is male and he's a lover of kids, but hates adults. I have to really watch him when we're outside he thinks he's protecting the house the yard etc. He nipped at the man who installed our new furnance after the man had been there multiple times and there all day, Jack is just goofey. They are usually one person dogs too, our male is my husband's dog. I bet you can find a Schnauzer rescue. Our female came from the pound and I'm really surprised they didn't put her down. Also it is very common for a donation when you drop off and animal as well as when you adopt. We have an animal shelter in Birmingham, AL that is sending dogs to New York, they did a web page and a rescue group transports them.
Good Luck, Heather.
2: About the Disney copywrights for personal use, it is my understanding that it is fine for personal use only. Check out Taberone's web site has lots of great info about copywrights, etc. By the way I love that little minnie purse and I'll have to check our Wally for those.

I thought it was me too! I was wondering when I got so good! ;)

Hi Ladies! I wanted to post pics of all the outfits my kids wore on our trip. We just got home on Sunday and had an AWESOME time!!

First up, minnie/mickey overalls. The minnie's I purchased. My ds outgrew the ones I bought for him so I CASE'd these. Can I tell you how long the hand applique takes? And how hard it is? I as NOT good at it at all but I got them done. I was actually hand sewing the last couple of letters the night we arrived!

Next up Epcot outfits. It was super chilly out that morning!

Animal Kingdom. What I noticed about these was that the darn Mickey heads looked goofy b/c I think I enlarged them too much. Oh well.

Look who we saw walking down Main Street - It's Samantha Brown from the Travel Channel. I wish I could have talked to her. She is so awesome!

My Pirate and my Princess (not made by me).

Princess Allie

IMG_2185.jpg

Allie's minni dot twirl and top. Getting WAY too small so I put a white t-shirt underneath to keep her belly from showing. Guess we will have to retire it now.

I actually had a tinkerbell outfit I just couldn't get finished in time. Well, I did finish it but it looked like a sack and had some other issues. So, I need to fix it.

Thanks for looking!

I would like to see a close up. DD wants a Giselle something.

This just doesn't surprise me at all. I believe it is the "re-distribution" of those designs that Disney is against but it is OK if you create them for your own personal use.

Ok I might get in some trouble. I just purchased 17 vintage patterns from a vintage pattern site. I might be able to avoid trouble if nobody tells DH.

tanyaandallie- I love those outfits you did a terrific job.

Thanks Susan! I contacted a schnauzer rescue, but they are pretty far away and didn't want to help. :sad2: We don't seem to have one close by. Pierre is the 5th schnauzer or schauzer mix I've had in my life. He's the first one to bite anyone! I've heard that some of them can be nippy, but it has never been my personal experience. So, I thought that when the woman I got him from said he was great with kids, even babies, that he would be perfect for us! I'm pretty furious that she was so dishonest with me.

Wow! You saw the travel channel lady. That is so cool! All of the outfits (and your kids, of course) are absolutely adorable. You got some great pictures!

A close up would be fantastic. Thanks for the offer. I'll have to add those overalls (or maybe a shortall version) for our June trip. That would freak out DD. I think we're going to have her birthday party the day before we leave and I could give her the short-alls as my present to her at her party. I'm still not telling her that we're going, she'll figure it out when we get to the airport, but that should make it an interesting plane ride.

tanyaandallie- They are all really great- I love the mickey/minnie overalls with the blanket stitching- That looks really neat!! Hope you had a great time- What fun to have the MK "all to yourself"!!

I, too, would love to see a close up shot. Can you also explain how you did an iron on of the eyes, nose and mouth? I would LOVE to know how this works.

I love you clothes SO much...that little sailor dress is just too cute!!! Have you ever considered trying out for Project Runway?! So not kidding!

:goodvibes

LOL...of course project runway is my favorite show...I love to design, but can't draw, sketch, to save my life...LOL
Thanks for the compliment.

Where do you all find the hair clippies- I must be blind because I have looked at Michaels, Joann, and Walmart and could not find them. I know they must have them but WHERE???

I found clippies at walmart. They were near the "old lady" curlers. :rotfl: I looked in the hair accessories, the fabric area, the kids area, and finally was about to give up and then remembered that my grandma used to use these clips to hold her pink hair rollers in place. So look in the aisle with the hair accessories, but near the hair curlers. They were like a dollar a pack.

Here is what I did yesterday. DD2 got invited to her first birthday party. I know, she's young, but she is good friends with this girl that is turning 4. Her friend is going to Disneyworld over Easter, so we thought we would make a custom for her birthday present. I did not have a lot of warning, so this is what I came up with using only stuff I already had at home. (Okay, I sorta cheated on the buttons, I had to cut them off a coat of mine because I have no time to get out and buy buttons before the party :scared1: ). I hope it fits. Ths girl is turning 4 but she is really big for her age. I got some quick measurments, but I'm still worried about the fit. I serged the ruffle instead of hemming but I think I really like it! I may sort of CASE this for DD2 (can you CASE yourself? :confused3), but I'm not sure if I have enough Minnie Dot left. :rolleyes1 sorry to be so chatty :rotfl: I'm just waiting for photobucket to upload my photos. My internet has been a nightmare lately.

th_IMG_0930.jpg

And the little $5 Wal-Mart purse we bought to go with it. Lily has this purse too and loves it! I love anything under $5 :rotfl:

th_IMG_0929.jpg

I love this! The purse is tooo cute!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I got the nemo outfit done. Still have to finish Ariel.

th_P1020827.jpg

I love the ribbon you added -- perfect! Can't wait to see Ariel.

Sorry I feel like I will never catch up. On the plus side, I finished almost all of my PTA work so I can go back to sewing again! This is what I did today. I sewed six sashes together and cut out the words from sitcky back felt and stuck them on. They are for the Father/Daughter dance Friday. I let Megan try one on if she promised not to fuss if she didn't win. She sighed and said, Anna Gabrielle will win for kindergarten. She is the most beautiful. Awwww!

th_100_2233.jpg

Look at the dumb dog! He is in every shot!

Love the sash! Megan is just the sweetest thing!

Yeah! Photobucket is back up. Here are a few more... Thanks for all the nice comments on my children. I have said it before and will say it again, all of the kids posted on here are exceptionally cute and the mama's (and papa's) are so creative.
th_disney2007122.jpg

I didn't make the girl's dresses but I did make my son's. This was Liberty Tree Tavern.
th_disney2007091.jpg

Our baby had her first haircut at the Main Street barber. I didn't plan for her "First Haircut" ears to match her dress but look how perfectly they did!
th_disney2007081.jpg

My eldest got the glitter and gel at the barber shop.

More great outfits and pics! The kids are just too cute!

Yeah, yeah, me again! Photobucket is working at the moment, so here's the skirt I finished this morning. This is CarlaC's scaloppini skirt. I think it turned out really cute! Tessa is fresh from the shower.
It's not as short as the 2nd picture makes it look. It rode up when she raised her arms.

Here's a close-up and a perty circle:

This one's just 'cuz I thought it was cool (she jumped, she's not falling)!

I'm not sure what kind of shirt to put with it yet. But, I'm thinking of something with a Chip applique.

Great skirt Heather! I may have to try one of those one day!

Here is the Mulan dress I have been working on.

Absolutely beautiful!!!!!!!!!!
