This thread move way to fast for me to keep up! Anyway, I have been working on this top...dh was home yesterday, so I could get more sewing than I normally would on a weekday. This is for dd...it is not completely done..I have to sew the button on, and also the snap that goes on the inside.

I am going to make capri..I think just a plain purple capri (the purple matches the purple in the oval that the princesses are in), and then I will put the same white rick rack on it..what do you think?

Jenny

oh my I love this! I have never seen this fabric before.

Hey Girls-

I have been stalking all of you since the original thread! You are all amazing. I have taken it as far as borrowing a sewing machine, but then it dawned on me........I don't sew. I wish I could come close to making all the beautiful things you guys do!

Anyway, CastleCreations...........my middle name guess is Irene :)

Keep sewing girls, I live through you!

Susie

I LOVE it! Where did you get that fabric? I have that top pattern and I need to CASE this! And I think purple capris w/ric rac would be very cute.

Oh that really is cute!! Where did you find that fabric?

oh my I love this! I have never seen this fabric before.

I found the fabric at Joann's a few days ago. I wished I had bought more...I only bought 2 yards and had no clue what I was going to make it at the time. I really like how it turned out....I hope to get started on the capri tonight.

so, is everyone just sending random guesses for middle names? or do you have a plan of attack? I've sent in some name, not knowing what the limit is. Hope its okay. :confused3

Okay all of you sneaky Disers..I need some help. There is an auction that is ending really soon, and I love the style of the skirt, and I'm trying to save the picture, but the right click is disabled...any tricks...I don't want to CASE her exactly..:rotfl: just the style of it...LOL

DH says that there is a button on the keyboard that will bypass the right click disable. It looks like a menu with an arrow on it. It pulls up the same right click menu.

My little sister's name is also Elisa. I would guess her middle name but it's too long and not in the first 9 letters.

I think that would be really cute with purple capris, did the princesses come on the fabric or did you applique them on??
oooh, shameless post, when did I suddenly become a Mouseketeer? I thought it wasn't until 500? Yay me! I feel so growed up!   nevermind, that really was shameless, I guess 500 is veteran? And here I still thought I was earning my ears.

Hey I just looked and I am a mouseketeer too!!!! Maybe it has something to do with your percentage or posts per day average?? I don't know how they figure that out.

CONGRATS :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I have just been sending in random guesses- I hope she cleaned out her box!?!?!:rotfl2:

Yay! I just won the final fabric for the stripwork jumper I want to make DD3! Now, I have to get the pattern. I want to post the pics of the fabrics to see what you all think but I have to run her to preschool and then run errands.

Will have to post later. Also, have to take pics of the Mickey applique I did on my new machine (first try).

This new thread is moving fast. I hope to post more than the few times I did on the old. That would mean I'm actually getting some sewing done (I hope).

Please help a newbie! Let me start by saying I am amazed at the beautiful work you ladies have done - you have inspired me to drag out my never used sewing machine my parents bought me 10 years agao for my b-day!

My problem is where do I start? I think I know how to thread the machine, but I have never used a sewing machine. I can't really go out and take a class, but are there any good books or online tutorials you all can recommend?
Please remember I am a complete novice at this!

Welcome newbie! You are lucky to be starting when you little ones are so young! I know there are some books people have highly recommended for beginning sewers, I'm sure someone will and let you know the titles. I also recommend just jump in and try. I learn a lot every time I make something, and the people here will walk you through anything. It's a great place to learn!

Hey does anyone have tricks for turning long skinny pieces, like straps. I made a long tie, It is not going so well to turn it. I think maybe it is to skinny. Before I go recut and sew a new one does anyone have any tricks. My grammy gave me a long skinny pole thingy- but it just isn't working:headache:

Time to head out for school- I hope it doesn't get to chatty while we are gone:rotfl2:
Have a good day everyone!!

My machine came with directions for threading the machine so just follow those since I think every machine is a little different. Do you have any friends, family, neighbors close by that can help you learn? Everyone on this board is very helpful and we would all do what we can to help but I think it would be easier if you had someone to actually show you how to do it. Also, some of the directions on the www.youcanmakethis.com patterns are pretty exact which helped me to figure out what I was doing. Good luck and after you read your directions on how to thread the machine come back and I'm sure we can help you! Lots of us just started in the last year to sew and we are progressing really well!
