The outfit looks so stunning on Isabelle and looks like it fits her perfectly!!!

I was too afraid to do an outfit. I'm doing a crayon roll but for colored pencils. I printed out 100+ coloring book pages on 4x6 index cards-I bought a coupon sorter for the index cards. I brought some with me on my trip with my DD(5) earlier this month and they were a life saver at table service meals. She was most often done way before me and that 1 page activity sheet and single crayon they give the kids didn't hold her attention long enough.

Is anyone doing a journal for Isabelle? I was thinking I would do that too. I'll cover a primary composition book with Disney scrapbook paper. The primary books have room for a drawing on the top of each page.

This sounds like a super idea!!

:rotfl2: The girl refuses to wear her beautiful pettiskirt! Plus, did you see the pictures of her when she was in the wedding? :rotfl:

There's this great new invention called a scanner!!;)

Oh I could coach that girl into pageant readiness in NO TIME!! I was the QUEEN of "pretty feet"!!!

scanner...ummm...yeah, can't hear you...40-ish % deaf in my left ear...

*ahem*

love ya! mean it!!

:goodvibes

OK we are under a severe ts watch and tornado watch her in NJ...that includes you Miss Cammie. I don't have a basement or plan B if I see it coming. I am going to go sew now so if I die, I die happy! :lmao: See siggy for after I die! ;)

Be safe!!!

I may have to try that. It says its low sudzing so I assume it would be OK to use in my front load washer.

:lmao: How many do you think she'll have in her class? I was thinking of doing it for my DD's preschool class of 13 as an end of year gift but didn't have time or energy. She may have up to 25 in her K class so I don't think I'll be doing that. I think I'll keep it in mind as a nice birthday gift.

My Mom used some in her front loader before.

I'm thinking there will be around 25, and the way I procrastinate, that could take awhile!

There's this great new invention called a scanner!!;)

I am SO going to try this now. I need some more Tide, so this is a good time to try it and save $15! Now, do you have a good recipe for liquid fabric softener?
1.)I had a witty reply thought up then, I see you had the same one! I'm going to type it anyway though!

2.)I've seen fabric softner recipes too. I never use it, so I've never tried any. I may have put them in the bookmarks though. I'll try to find them for you. (as I recall, they involved hair conditioner)

Y'know the unfortunate thing about my pageant days...pictures that were taken weren't digital...:confused3

bummer.

:flower3:

MISS CAMMIE!!! You are IN LUCK!!! There is a wondeful invention out there called a SCANNER!!!!!! WOO HOO FOR YOU!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

From this site:http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf105050.tip.html

Fabric Softner Recipe:

Use 6 cups of water, 3 cups of vinegar and 2 cups of hair conditioner. Mix and store. Use the same amount you would normally use.
Like I said, I never use fabric softner, so I don't know how well this works.

Here's another one:
2 cups vinegar
2 cups baking soda
4 cups hot water

Be careful when adding the baking soda, do so very slowly as it will foam up. Cap and shake gently from side to side, opening the cap to allow air to escape (you may need to do this several times). Add about 20 drops of essential oil. I love lavender but you can use cedarwood, rose, eucalyptus, whatever you love.

Shake side to side before each use as the baking soda will settle. Pour just past the line in a downyball (I find this method works better than the machines fabric softener dispenser). Toss the ball in and that's it.

Teresa is crazy! Her feet are fine! So, what does a pedicure involve? What do they do?
:offtopic:

I have had only 1 1/2 pedicures. How do you end up with 1/2 a pedicure?
Well I went with my sister, who had never had a pedicure before. I had to bring my 2 kids. So I went first and my sister looked after the kids.

You sit in a comfy chair and they wash your feet and chair has a mini whirlpool at the bottom and it feels great. Then they trim your nails and cuticles. I got finished and went to look at the polish to pick one out. My sister got started in the chair. Well, I hear her call my name and I walk across the room and she passes out cold!:faint:

The ladies at the salon were panicking in their language. I was telling them to call 911. An ambulance came and my sister came back to. But we decided we were done with pedicures. THere wasn't anything wrong with my sister either she just didn't like the lady cutting her cuticles with those clippers they use. I have never tried to get another pedicure either.

:sad2: Uhhhh ohhhhh..... I just bought five (5) Carla C designs on ycmt. :cool1: I already had the Simply Sweet. :cutie: Now I basically can make anything for the girls. princess: :flower3: Sure wish buying fabric were as easy.

OK we are under a severe ts watch and tornado watch her in NJ...that includes you Miss Cammie. I don't have a basement or plan B if I see it coming. I am going to go sew now so if I die, I die happy! :lmao: See siggy for after I die! ;)

If you have a tornado warning go into a bathroom or closet in the interior of your home on the lowest level. Cover yourself with a comforter or pillows.

We don't have a basement either and we all squeeze in our powder room.
Be safe.

:scared1: but, that's a little bit funny (as long as your sister was ok):)

Here are the teacher purses. Owls for the kindergarten teacher and the beaded handle is for Jacob's teacher. I am very worried about the handles on the owl one; I don't think they look right. I hope they like them!

I like the "O" handles. It's "O" for "Owls."

Yeah, I'm cheap! It's really easy though! And, it doesn't make Brian or Lydia break out into a rash, which is a big plus! :thumbsup2

I have the links in bookmarks for the recipe I use, but here it is: http://www.thefamilyhomestead.com/laundrysoap.htm I don't put in as much water at the end as she says to though.

I am using that recipe tomorrow but I am using it in the powdered form. Just blending the dry ingredients together. I hope it works that way. I did see this recipe as a powdered detergent, so I am hopeful.

Do you use Napthels(?) soap? I am trying Ivory.

Hey you guys!!!! I'm almost finished with my BIG GIVE outfit and I'm lovin it, if I do say so myself!! I decided to do some applique and I need to stitch up the lining real quick and the outfit will be done. Thinking of making a few accessories, too, though. Maybe a headband? Or do you guys think bows would be better?

Also, all this talk about homemade detergent and fabric softener - I don't make my own detergent (I may, though, when we run out of what we have now) but I'll share my tip - I use just plain white distilled vinegar as fabric softener. Works great and no greasy stains like some fabric softeners can leave behind. You can add it just like you would liquid fabric softener or you can put it in a downy ball if you have one of those. I use the downy ball because our w/d is in the basement and I can't really hear for when to put it in - that and I'm lazy. Anyway, it's cheap and works well!

We're cleaning like fools today for the fam is coming tomorrow for Ella's b-day party. Hopefully I'll get to do some sewing tonight to finish my BIG GIVE outfit cause I wanna show you guys!!

Hope everyone's having a great Saturday!

Ok, so I have this really pretty vintage pattern that my grandmother used for my mom when she was little & I have this really cute retro print fabric that I thought was just perfect for it. :cool1:

1. Vintage patterns don't really spell things out even as well as modern store-bought patterns. :confused3

2. It DOESN'T say anywhere how many of each piece to cut. Found out as I was sewing that I needed 2 of the collar (which I had already decided I needed) & that the bodice was supposed to be lined (oh well, it isn't & it won't be now) AND that there should be 2 of the back pieces.

GRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :furious: I'm out of fabric. I mean COMPLETELY out of the fabric. Called the closest Hancock's that I haven't been to recently 'cause the other one doesn't have & neither did this one. Called Mom & had her check her Hancock - nope. I figured. I got the fabric last summer.

I went to Wal-Mart to find something that would coordinate well enough to finish the dress 'cause I'm sorta attached to it now (sentimentalist that I am). Then I called dh to let him know what I had decided to do (he's so good about at least pretending to listen when I talk about sewing :lovestruc ), & realized that the pieces I had already cut were probably at least double the waist measurement of the dress & it could probably finish it that way & it just wouldn't be as full. Got home & measured - yep. I'm good. Now if only I had figured that out last night when I reall really wanted to be working on it.

Ok, I'm going to go finish it now. I hope. If nothing else goes wrong. It's pretty easy to put together though. Well, if yu can follow the way they have it written. Vintage patterns are NOT for the pattern-reading challenged.

Sorry it's looking all wrinkly- It's been all folded up for awhile:rolleyes1 I did attempt to do the eyes but the first one was all wonky so I gave up!!
I found blue fabric with bananas all over it to make outfits for the kids.
I love this, it looks great so far!

I absolutly LOVE these! I love the knot purse. I wish I had been in my sewing groove when they had that pattern for free on ycmt.

So I haven't posted lately because I did finish the 44 page scrapbook for DDs teacher---she loved it and 13 crayon rolls. I was up until 4 am finishing them. I am crazy! So after the graduation and celebratory lunch at our local pizza buffet. I took a long nap and went to bed super early! Poor kids had to go to bed early too. I am still not caught up on sleep and I have 2 scrapbooks to make for my BF baby shower next sunday for her twin boys and all teh beach outfits for our trip in 2 weeks. I need to do something tonight before bed so I am not last minute again! Well here are the crayon rolls and pics from the graduation for your viewing pleasure:) I already posted the dress she is wearing ut didn't have time to make her something new.

Remember those polka dotted dresses from Walmart last year that everyone was buying to Disneyfy? They're baaa-ack! I saw pink and light blue. They are $4.88 and in the baby department.

Would you be interrested in sharing how you did this? Sometimes my daughter likes to assert her independance and not wear bows, but she always will wear a headband. Thanks!

Sure I will post when I get back from vacation. I swear my parents are the only people in the world without internet access and I dont think Starbucks wants me moving in, I have been in here 3 times today just to get my internet fix

I use the Fels Naptha soap, I've never tried the Ivory. let me know how it works!

I anxious to get started on mine too!!1

Great tip about the vinegar! I should try that. Brian hates fabric softner! Plus, it makes him itcy...

So, that's what rara looks like! :thumbsup2

I have the sleeves in now. I had to call my MIL & have her measure dd's arm for me. :rotfl: I'm sure she was thinking 'And this can't wait a couple of hours???'

Love the detail on the back of the shirt. Personally I would center the dress. Can't wait for you to post pics.

by the way...there will be NO dying OR getting hurt. It's a RULE. :)
I second that rule.

I have had only 1 1/2 pedicures. How do you end up with 1/2 a pedicure?

You sit in a comfy chair and they wash your feet and chair has a mini whirlpool at the bottom and it feels great. Then they trim your nails and cuticles. I got finished and went to look at the polish to pick one out. My sister got started in the chair. Well, I hear her call my name and I walk across the room and she passes out cold!:faint:

your poor sister! I do NOT blame her! Those things freak me out! I got cut one time and I forbid cuticle cutting ever since!

When I lived in Manhattan I got a mani/pedi every week. We HAD to. My boss required it of us. Not kidding. so I got REALLY good about saying NO to cuticle clipping and the scary razor thing they would use on people's callouses! The lady I saw every week got to know what I would and would not allow and she'd always hold up the forbidden instruments and say "nah-nah-nah! yes?"

:rotfl2:

Then I'd give her a thumb's up and she'd thumb's up back and we'd be all set!

I became a pedicure junkie. Manicures don't last on me any more. I'm too much hands on with kids...sometimes wrestling on the floor with the really feisty ones! So I don't waste the money...but Sally and I get pedi's at least twice a month. It's our "girlie time" as Sally calls it!

Heather and Teresa, you MUST give this a try!!! It's good for the soul!!:goodvibes

SCANNER!! IT SCANS OLD PHOTOS SO YOU CAN POST THEM ON THE DISBOARDS!! :saying very loudly into Miss Cammie's right ear:

funny how my bad ear switches from ear to ear...

tricky thing selective hearing...

*ahem*

and I don't even know WHERE on earth those old things would even BE...and I don't HAVE a scanner.

bummer.
