I know that feeling!!! The last craft fair I did was really slow and you just knew all the stallholders were walking around checking each other out!!

As some with her own collection of autoimmune diseases, I feel for you and wish you all the best. You make a great red head by the way!!!:thumbsup2

Thank you! :) I have to say I really don't like the way you said COLLECTION of AI's.....:rotfl2: The doctor keeps telling me that is highly likely to have my very own collection and I didn't want the single... ;) I hope you are doing well. PM if you'd like to share...:flower3:

I can't say how many times I created something original and had it appear the next time I went to a show. It was unbelievable how people felt free to take the idea you came up with and run with it. Even though they knew that in all likelihood that you would see it. That's what I call BOLD. :lmao: I have never minded someone copying my creations, I just don't like people taking credit for my original idea. So I do understand the frustration on the part of people who have had it done.

Can someone who has made both CarlaCs peasant pattern and the roundneck pattern tell me how they compare? I have made a couple of pairs of the easyfit pants (great pattern!) and I need to make a top but have been putting it off. I have the peasant pattern and know I will buy the other one too but which would you make first if you were really new to tops?

Thanks!!

The peasant top in its most basic form is really easy. I would definately reccommend CarlaC's pattern over the Dainty Designs pattern too. The DD peasant top doesn't have the right curve to the neck or underarms to finish the top as described in the pattern--it's possible to do, but the end result is not nearly as nice as the CarlaC pattern. The round neck top isn't necessarily difficult, but a bit trickier than the basic peasant top. If you're fairly new to sewing, I would tackle the peasant top first before moving on to the round neck top. You'll be a pro in no time. :) Hope that helps!

It has come to my attention, that my posts (which were intended to be HELPFUL) are being considered as arguing and attacking. I would like to say that was NOT my intent.

I am done trying to "help". Feel free to carry on.

Glad to see you post! How have you been feeling lately?

Thank you. I am very tired from the chemo drugs and I recently had an upper respiratory that turned into pneumonia so I had to go into the hospital and they did a scope to break everything up. I can't seem to find any energy at all. My poor kids have started to look homeless...

Lori, you keep talking about an origional agreement with the origional owners. That is long gone and long over. So why keep harping on it. You have been told that Heather would take care of it. End it there. If you were honestly so concerned your children's safety, you would not be posting there pictures on Ebay, your posts or TR. Whether or not they get deleted from the webshots account or not. The best way to ensure your childrens safety would be to use a manniquin, water spot their faces, or edit the pictures to be headless.

is your buisness why i want them out. pm me if you have a problem. I said in a previous post.

do you feel it's right for someone else to post pics of my kids on this board? you don't seem to feel that is wrong

is it your place to choose my kids safety? I choose where they are posted and saved, not you or anyone else. just me mom!

I trust you all and shoud have believed in that trust.

you want to keep arguing I'll keep fighting.

Heather did say she would take them out, but I have to jump through hoops in order for it to happen? I ended this, you are keeping it going!

Lori

you have got to take care of yourself first

I bought the pattern you are talking about. I actually made the L for Katie and it fits perfectly. Katie is a 2t-3t now. I am sure it would fit your DD. The way the pattern has you sew it- is kind of like a pillowcase. You leave a small opening to turn it and then top stitch all the way around. I can post the exact instructions per the pattern if you like. Maybe it will make the next one easier. I think the shirt is adorable. I made Kate's out of a sunflower print with a blue background. It was at the time the most expensive fabric I have used for clothes at like $14/yd (I used my 50% off Q), I have since exceeded that. Don't tell DH. I will post some pics as soon as I find that camera battery. :confused3 BTW we also have that gymbo top. I LOVE it!

I also love the round neck top. I have a pattern here for one similar. Do you think the e-book would be easier?

Oh, if you wouldn't mind posting the directions, that'd be great! I just love that style of top! I tried the whole leave a small opening and topstitch thing, but I just couldn't get it to work - the straps would still be inside and all jumbled up.

As for the round neck top - if you already have a pattern similar, I'd use it. I just loved the top and didn't already have a pattern like it, so I bought the ebook.

Thanks so much everyone for the nice comments!!

Who was asking about 2009 trips? I thought I had you quoted, but I guess not. Anyhoo, we're tentatively planning a June 09 trip with the whole fam. DH's family, anyway. It was their idea, but no one is really committing yet. I'm a little unsure myself. I, of course, will want customs for everyday, but I'm sure they'll all think I'm a little nutso (which is mainly true, but still. . .)
I would offer to my niece and nephew some things also, but SIL doesn't really appreciate things like that, plus her kids are older, so I'm not exactly sure what I'd make anyway.

I think even if we don't do a trip with DH's family, I'd still like to plan one - but I'd rather go maybe in Dec or Jan. We'll see.

Lori, I'm not arguing with you about your children's safety. Frankly, it's your kids to do with as you see fit. You've been very "argumentative" with everyone and I just don't see your side. Well, I do see your side, TO A POINT. It is YOU, MOM, that is posting her children's pictures to public domains. That makes them public figures. I read this board everyday since thread 1 and this is the first I've read of you wanting your pictures out of the webshots for several months, or a good year. Just becuase you said you want it off, today, doesn't mean it will happen instantly. It's your right to be upset, and to have your pictures off the site. But you need to wait for Heather or Teresa to take care of it. I really don't see where anyone has tried to be malicous to you or your children.

I love to look at your designs and hope to be that good sometime. And your children are amazingly beautiful. I don't know why your being so defensive with everyone.

Not to put words in Lori's mouth. The way I read it is she did not know until today that the kids were in the account. I am in the same boat. We both had an agreement about the photobucket account but it was not honored. Not to my knowledge did anyone ever say here are the new "rules." I can also understand her being upset after EnchantedPrincess posted pictures of her children without permission. That was just in bad taste.

Being the people they are I am sure that HS and TJ will happily take off Lori's, mine and was it Tink516 that requested the pictures be removed.

I don't a disease as you do. But I understand the energy issue!! I have RSDS, which an unknown disorder of the nervous system. It starts with a minor injury that takes too long to heal and it's recently spread to both legs. The pain can be unbearable and the pain meds make me very tired. Sewing is my therapy.

I'm sure your kids are beautiful and glad to have you with them.

if you have a problem pm me!!!! didn't I just post that.

Do you see a problem with someone else posting my photos here. you seem to always forget that. is that not malicous to post them here without my consent to make a point!

do you remember when it was made and then the person that started it said that if we wanted them out to ask. I did ask. was given the password and took them out. then I was given assurances it would not happen anymore.
if you have been around sincethe beg. you would remeber those conversations. hmmmm so if I wanted them out then, why would a new ownere not take them out. I never realized they were even in there till yesterday otherwise I would have said something a long freakin time ago. I assumed that they were not copied there.

you want to keep arguing with me!!! you want to be a right fighter?? Then be right and know you are so right then. does that make you happy.
leave this alone, you are the only one keeping up the fight.
Lori

I am not going to argue with you.

I am professionally an artist. I also was an art teacher. I know a lot about artistic integrity. I used the example of the book because it was the closest example at the time. Then a couple hours later a very similar dress appeared. The point is a book or a dress if someone cases it and then sells it. That is wrong. I am sorry you do not feel that way.

I posted asking TJ to take the pics down. As soon as she sees my post I am sure she will. I do not think she was malicious and I never said so. I do not think she knew of the agreement I had with the previous photobucket person.

I think we have very different ethical standards. I will stick to mine because at the end of the day I have no worries!

I don't know if we have very different ethical standards. I responded to you because you said you wanted to have a discussion. I haven't ever CASED you. I do know that it isn't illegal. I honestly don't think that there is anything you can do about it. THere are warnings at the beginning of the threads that we share ideas or CASE. You can't control other people's behavior only your own behavior or how you react to it.

Scrapbookers share ideas for page layouts all the time. It is called Scraplifting. Does that mean that scrapbookers lack artistic integrity? I don't think so.

At the end of the day I have no worries either.

EnchantedPrincess: I think it was rude and disrespectful of you to post Lori's children's pictures the way you did. As their mother, she has the right to ask that her children's pictures not be placed in a photobucket account and to be removed if any should be in there. She should not have to defend her reasoning and it is tacky for everyone to question her on it. They are her children and if she wants the pictures removed, they should be removed!!!!

I have been on this thread from practically page 1 of the first thread. I will admit that I haven't posted in a really long time, and there are several reasons for that. I won't go into some of the reasons why because they do not really pertain to the discussion at hand. However, some of the reasons I no longer post do. The first reason was that I did not, from the very beginning, like the photobucket account idea. It would be 1 thing for me to post my kids pics on here for a day or 2 to show ya'll and then delete them. It is something else for them to be added to a public photo album for anyone to view until the end of time. At that point, I did post a few pics of outfits I made, but the clothes were just on hangers -- no models. However, I hoped to eventually try my hand at selling and quite frankly, didn't want to post my ideas because I didn't want to see them up for auction. (Yes, I do know that similar outfits will come about independently. However, we had people recreating outfits almost down to the detail. I don't consider copying an outfit and changing a ruffle to another similar, but slightly different fabric, to really be changing an outfit. KWIM?) No problem though. I just won't post them here.

Now, I know you are only trying to prove a point, but taking pics of someone's children when they have been saying for several pages that they don't want people doing that and then posting them to this forum is just unconscionable. Also, if people do not understand that a child's parent has the right to determine when and where their child's photos are posted, well then, I don't know if I could ever explain why it is wrong to post potos of someone else's children -- regardless of where they themselves post them.

:::: Going back into lurking status now::::

there is no problem. I aske to have them taken off and everyone got on my case about why? should it matter??

I don't think I got nana's tone as helpful. if she was she could have pm'd me about it instead of what she did! she put pics from my trip report in the photobucket account. no one said that was ok. I thought only this board was allowed to do that according to the first page discalimer.

if you all want me to stop posting that is your buisness. that is not the issue here.

I am not mad at them for not being told by the original person to not include mine in there. you all think I am mad at them. I am mad at the fact that I am not allowed to go in and delete over 50 photos myself. I have send each one in a link... ummm I am supposed to spend 4 hours on something when the original poster allowed us to delete them our selves with a PUBLIC account and a PUBLIC Password.

you want to case something of mine - sure why not- just don't go selling it and calling it your own. calling it your own is unethical!

ANYONE THAT POSTS PICS OF MY KIDS WITHOUT MY PERSMISSION LIKE ON A FEW PAGES BACK IS DOING SOMETHING ILLEGAL AND AGAINST BOARD RULES! you shouldbe ashamed of yourselves.

Lori

Posting these pictures crossed the line. I asked a question and was looking for honest respectful answers. Just because you do not agree with someone does not need that little girls need to brought into this.

I purposly took out the kids pictures!

I apologize for posting pictures of the kids, but in no way was I trying to get them involved. I was just trying to show that her pictures on her eBay auctions are not protected, and anyone could save them on the computer whether or not they are right click disabled or not. I have already removed those pictures. I am not trying to create more trouble, but trying to understand why putting your pictures on trip reports, on this thread, and on ebay would be OK.

So a question for others - do you not have any pictures from this thread that you have saved on a folder somewhere on your own computer so you could go back and refer to them? I have plenty of pictures of customs that I have saved for future reference - from here, from other thread or somewhere else on the internet.

I just got back from both Joann and Hancock fabrics. Nice sales this weekend.

I came home with two pieces of pre-shirred stuff, a Minnie print and a princess print. I should have those made with in the hour. I also got some of that princess vinyl, I'm going to make a table cloth for Delaney's little table, I got some very light pink flannel to back it and I'll put bias tape around the outside.

I found that fabulous monkey chain fabric! I'm going to make a tiered skirt out of it, I got both the tan and white back ground. The ladies who had the tanks with them are those a gymboree top or did you make those as well? We're members of the National Zoo and I figured DD could wear the skirt and a top to the big event they have in June.

I got some patriotic fabrics, including a Hello Kitty on for DD for 4th of July.

Aimee, you had mentioned that your youngest DD loves Strawberry Shortcake, my Hancock fabrics had a really cute panel fabric and a coordinating print, they are pink and black, really cute, they were in the clearance section if you're looking for other Strawberry Shortcake fabrics. They are kind of that pink chic Parisian style.

Got lots of patterns today. I also picked up another of those large fabriques at Joann, I got Lightning McQueen, I also picked up another of the storybooks to make another skirt out of to match the Cars top I want to make with Lightning.

Elisa, I love Alexis' new dress. It's cute!

Is anyone going to be at Disney World the first week of June? We arrive on the 1st and leave late on the 7th.

Everyone's outfits are looking great as usual. I am sorry for all the fighting that is going on. CASEing has been an issue for years and I have seen many debates on this subject. They never seem to be good. I have enjoyed lurking here since everyone seems to get along so well and there hasn't been any drama. I hope everyone gets back to normal and that no one feels the need to leave.

I have a question. I have been trying to order the round neck sundress from YCMT for the past week. Whenever I say buy this, it it says I have 0 in my cart. I have emailed them, but no response. Is anyone else having problems ordering this pattern? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

Sue

Sally there are actually QUITE a few. Photobucket is quite easy to use if you need to see the picture bigger and more clearly, you just click the individual picture. I know this is CASE'd because nearly every one has the same material used in the original and the same children with the mouse ears on them, , which I know the designer thought up. Maybe this orignal is one you did not see because as I said this was almost a year ago that the actual designer of the outfit posted it.I don't recall whether you were posting here then or not. But then there are a lot of new people here.I am sure if you would like to go back and look through the first thread you will be bound to find it :) . The pattern may be YCMT but the design is certainly not.

Ok I have to comment on this because I was laughing too hard when I read it. The design of a child with the mouse ears on his/her head is a Disney design. I remember seeing that design many years ago. It may not have been on clothes but is a Disney design. I also want to ask how do you know that the people who have CASED the outfit that you posted didn't ask the original creator for permission to CASE the outfit? I have a dress that I plan on CASEing and selling on ebay when I get back. I did ask the original creator for permission to do so, but I did it in a PM so noone knows that I did it. I also want to ask how do you know that the outfit you purchased isn't a CASED design? (Part of it is).

I think CASEing is ok for personal use, but the moment that you plan on selling that design you need to get permission to do so BEFORE you do it.

If I ruffled feathers I am sorry.

Oh by the way you guys have posted some really cute stuff since I've been gone. I'm not back yet though. We ended up staying another day. I am DISing on my Blackberry on the way home. DH is driving. I can't wait to share my pics with you guys.

I have heard some speak of their inspiration folder, so I do know that people have one. I, however, do not. In my experience, if I want to create something and let it sit for too long, I lose interest in it. In other words, something that inspires me today probably will not inspire me next month; and if I can't remember the details as to what inspired me initially, it must not have been that unique to begin with. KWIM?

As to the first point, I, personally, don't add pics to my trip reports, I don't use my kiddos on ebay, nor do I post their pics here. I do, however, understand that it is a parent's right to decide when and where their child's photo is posted. Perhaps they feel it is okay for them to post it, but not anyone else. Also, they have control over deleting it if they post it -- not if someone else does.

I have nothing to add to the ongoing discussion...I just wanted to say how cute all of your marathon pictures in your siggy are...love the everest one....it almost makes me wish I was athletic...:lmao:
