Honestly, the kids do need to be left out of it. They are just kids and have nothing to do with this.

Thanks!

and not to get even more "crazy" here as someone called me in a PM! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF!!!

it is against photobucket rules to copy and keep photos on there site without permission of the original owner. I personally do not have a inspiration folder in photobucket for that reason.
You all have made me sad and ashammed to be apart of a group that wants to attack me and my decisions as a mother.
Lori

Lori- you are an excellent mother and designer. I am very proud to have someone with your integrity as a friend. Please know that I truly value that!

That was not the point. This is something that has been on my mind lately. I have been sewing for about a year and my knowledge has grown. I was interested in seeing if anyone else's views had changed. I never said anyone stole any of my outfits. Some of my outfits have been cased. I was the first person to make the pink Cinderella dress. I never got upset about it. I complimented the other girls and found it interesting how everyone had their own take. My daughter's Ariel sundress has been cased a couple of times. People pm all the time about outfits and advice and I happily answer their questions. The last time I checked this was a public forum open to discussion.

What is the point then? You are angry that your photos are in the photobucket account. :confused3 Than can be easily fixed if you ask Teresa or Heather nicely.

I think you did say that someone stole your Ariel outfit that your DD designed.

EnchantedPrincess: I think it was rude and disrespectful of you to post Lori's children's pictures the way you did. As their mother, she has the right to ask that her children's pictures not be placed in a photobucket account and to be removed if any should be in there. She should not have to defend her reasoning and it is tacky for everyone to question her on it. They are her children and if she wants the pictures removed, they should be removed!!!!

OK, so here is the set that I mentioned last night. I absolutely loved the style of this top from gymboree, so I bought it and made a pattern from it. I had seen commercial patterns like it, but only in infant to 24 month size. I thought it would be easy. Boy was I wrong! Anyway, here's the gymbo top:

Isn't it so cute?

And here's mine - this was just an experiment - I used fabric that I had left over from a dress I made last year. I didn't want to use fabric that I loved just in case I messed it up.

I think it turned out ok. It was hard trying to figute out how to sew it together, though, because of the criss cross straps and the fact that I wanted it to be reversible like the gymbo one.

Ok, and here's one more I almost forgot to post - I finally bought the round neck pattern from ycmt. I've had this fabric for a while now, finally got to use it!
roundnecktop1.jpg

Whew! that was a lot of pics. Hope everyone's having a great Saturday and will enjoy the long weekend!

THis is adorable! I think it turned out great. Are you going to make a Disney one now? It would look cute in Minnie Dot!

I am not sure I used the word stole. I am not going to argue with you though.

It was my understanding from the org photobucket account that my DD would not be in there. She was and when I contacted the person who maintained the account she was as nice as could be. She removed the pics and then gave me the password. I had no idea that my DD's were in there until yesterday. I did ask and have not heard back from TJ. I am sure she will remove the pictures now that she knows of my orginial agreement.

I also found my DD's pictures in another photobucket account that did belong to me either. It has been an interesting evening. This a discussion board and there is no reason why adults cannot have an interesting boutique discussion. I have not been dramatic or disrespectful at all.

thank you so very much. you have said perfectly my point. and thank you again.
Lori

I can't speak for anyone, but I don't think anyone is trying to ignore the removal requests being made. I think HeatherSue and Teresajoy are at a family function right now and are away from their computers.

I don't know what else to say.

I posted up for them to take it down. then I got blasted by everyone. I am sure they will give the password and allow me to take my pics out.
But I have been attacked by everyone for requesting it. why?
So if everyone wants to keep attacking I'll keep fighting back.

I DO want to hahnk everyone for sending me the nice pm's now. thanks for the support ladies and If anyone has anything personal to say to me on this issue pm me. you all are embarrasing yourselves for attacking me and posting pics of my kids without my permission.

I think the term CASE stands for Copy and Steal Everything
So if someone CASED you they Stole your design and are selling it for profit. Are you also saying someone on this board is selling your autograph book on ebay? I fail to see how that is a relevant topic for this thread. If someone on this thread is selling it than I would PM them.

I still fail to see what the problem is. No one maliciously posted anyone's photos in the photobucket account. It was just an oversight and it can be removed.

Also, I think several ladies were trying to point out that posting pictures of your children on ebay isn't safe even if you right click disable them. It seems as if you are angry at Teresa for putting them in photobucket but you are posting photos of them on ebay and in your Trip Report.

I think they were trying to be helpful. Especially Nana who recommended using a mannequin or a dress form.

In the future, I would refrain from showing us what you have sewn or add a disclaimer at the top of your post. Copyright AimeeG 2008.

Because honestly there isn't anything wrong with someone liking a fabric and a pattern and creating the same outfit themselves. It isn't illegal and it isn't immoral and it isn't unethical.

Imitation is the sincerest Form of Flattery!

Anyone planning a trip for 2009? I know there are a lot of you that go every year but for those that don't -- anyone going in '09???

One of my SIL's sent me an email this week with a day countdown to 2009 of when she wanted us to go. Who all will there?

I have been reading but haven't said anything but I am wondering how is having your pictures in the photobucket account different from posting your kids' picture here on this disboutiquer thread, or in your trip report? It is also public domain.

Also, Lori..... Just to prove my point, these pictures are taken right off your none right clickable auction...

I have been on this thread from practically page 1 of the first thread. I will admit that I haven't posted in a really long time, and there are several reasons for that. I won't go into some of the reasons why because they do not really pertain to the discussion at hand. However, some of the reasons I no longer post do. The first reason was that I did not, from the very beginning, like the photobucket account idea. It would be 1 thing for me to post my kids pics on here for a day or 2 to show ya'll and then delete them. It is something else for them to be added to a public photo album for anyone to view until the end of time. At that point, I did post a few pics of outfits I made, but the clothes were just on hangers -- no models. However, I hoped to eventually try my hand at selling and quite frankly, didn't want to post my ideas because I didn't want to see them up for auction. (Yes, I do know that similar outfits will come about independently. However, we had people recreating outfits almost down to the detail. I don't consider copying an outfit and changing a ruffle to another similar, but slightly different fabric, to really be changing an outfit. KWIM?) No problem though. I just won't post them here.

Now, I know you are only trying to prove a point, but taking pics of someone's children when they have been saying for several pages that they don't want people doing that and then posting them to this forum is just unconscionable. Also, if people do not understand that a child's parent has the right to determine when and where their child's photos are posted, well then, I don't know if I could ever explain why it is wrong to post potos of someone else's children -- regardless of where they themselves post them.

I am not going to argue with you.

I am professionally an artist. I also was an art teacher. I know a lot about artistic integrity. I used the example of the book because it was the closest example at the time. Then a couple hours later a very similar dress appeared. The point is a book or a dress if someone cases it and then sells it. That is wrong. I am sorry you do not feel that way.

I posted asking TJ to take the pics down. As soon as she sees my post I am sure she will. I do not think she was malicious and I never said so. I do not think she knew of the agreement I had with the previous photobucket person.

I think we have very different ethical standards. I will stick to mine because at the end of the day I have no worries!

A lot of you have been on this thread a long time. I lurked from the beginning and finally posted on the original thread and have seen many come and go. This thread is where I met Aimeeg, Revrob, Eeyore, Tink561, Stephres, Heather, and so many more as people joined and left. Sorry if I didn't list everyone. :flower3: I really am sad right now that this is happening.

I don't mind a little drama once in awhile, as long as it doesn't get mean and nasty. :guilty: The pm's are too much.

My backstory is that I haven't been able to post on here for almost a year. I was diagnosed with a rare, incurable, autoimmune disease and the treatment for it is making me very ill.

I come here and lurk and live vicariously through all of you. I watch the beautiful outfits you make for your kids and I love every one of them. And I wish that I had the energy to be able to do it for my kids. There are so many outfits I would love to be able to CASE for my kids, but that's not going to happen for awhile.

When I went to Disney last year I had people stop me everywhere and ask where I had gotten the outfits that my daughters had on and I got to tell them that I had made them. That wouldn't have happened if I hadn't been on this site. I never would have had the confidence to make the outfits for my children. I even had one lady stop and take pictures of my kids in the outfit and later saw many takes on the outfit. I just considered it flattery.

I have owned a business that was dependent on my creative ability and whenever I went to a craft or art show, not clothing, :) I knew that someone would be doing what I was doing at the next show. So I always had to keep it fresh.

I really do think it's low of someone to produce something they got off someone else and call it one of a kind. That is not right. But I do know that it is going to happen.

Please try to forgive and forget, life is way too short.

And please don't take away my boutique eye candy! Pretty please!!

Personal hugs all around.....

there is no problem. I aske to have them taken off and everyone got on my case about why? should it matter??

I don't think I got nana's tone as helpful. if she was she could have pm'd me about it instead of what she did! she put pics from my trip report in the photobucket account. no one said that was ok. I thought only this board was allowed to do that according to the first page discalimer.

if you all want me to stop posting that is your buisness. that is not the issue here.

I am not mad at them for not being told by the original person to not include mine in there. you all think I am mad at them. I am mad at the fact that I am not allowed to go in and delete over 50 photos myself. I have send each one in a link... ummm I am supposed to spend 4 hours on something when the original poster allowed us to delete them our selves with a PUBLIC account and a PUBLIC Password.

you want to case something of mine - sure why not- just don't go selling it and calling it your own. calling it your own is unethical!

ANYONE THAT POSTS PICS OF MY KIDS WITHOUT MY PERSMISSION LIKE ON A FEW PAGES BACK IS DOING SOMETHING ILLEGAL AND AGAINST BOARD RULES! you shouldbe ashamed of yourselves.

Lori

Whew! that was a lot of pics. Hope everyone's having a great Saturday and will enjoy the long weekend!

I bought the pattern you are talking about. I actually made the L for Katie and it fits perfectly. Katie is a 2t-3t now. I am sure it would fit your DD. The way the pattern has you sew it- is kind of like a pillowcase. You leave a small opening to turn it and then top stitch all the way around. I can post the exact instructions per the pattern if you like. Maybe it will make the next one easier. I think the shirt is adorable. I made Kate's out of a sunflower print with a blue background. It was at the time the most expensive fabric I have used for clothes at like $14/yd (I used my 50% off Q), I have since exceeded that. Don't tell DH. I will post some pics as soon as I find that camera battery. :confused3 BTW we also have that gymbo top. I LOVE it!

I also love the round neck top. I have a pattern here for one similar. Do you think the e-book would be easier?

I have owned a business that was dependent on my creative ability and whenever I went to a craft or art show, not clothing, :) I knew that someone would be doing what I was doing at the next show. So I always had to keep it fresh.

I know that feeling!!! The last craft fair I did was really slow and you just knew all the stallholders were walking around checking each other out!!

As some with her own collection of autoimmune diseases, I feel for you and wish you all the best. You make a great red head by the way!!!:thumbsup2

Can someone who has made both CarlaCs peasant pattern and the roundneck pattern tell me how they compare? I have made a couple of pairs of the easyfit pants (great pattern!) and I need to make a top but have been putting it off. I have the peasant pattern and know I will buy the other one too but which would you make first if you were really new to tops?

Thanks!!

well I had a personal back and forth with the original person !
WHY DO I HAVE TO DEFEND THE ORIGNAL PROMISS!!!
I was told when the account got created if anyone was not comfortable putting there kids pics in there that they would not do that to a public account. I stated I was not comfortable a long wit ha lot of moms!!
That request was honored.
I assumed when the new owners took over that they understood the original promisses to everyone that was extablished on the original thread!!! why is this something that you are all upset at me about. what did I possibly do to all of you to attack me.
I did not ask you to do anything that is outrageous and yet you all feel the need to keep attacking me.
I share a lot with you all, I come here for friendship and sharing and yet you all want to attack and be rude. I have shared a lot of tecniches, free stuff and ideas. nice to know that when I ask a simple request you all come down on me.
think about if you were concerned about safety with your kids -do we have to know why - do I have to question your motives.
you are a mom that is asking nicely several times and now I have to defend.
Lori

Lori, you keep talking about an origional agreement with the origional owners. That is long gone and long over. So why keep harping on it. You have been told that Heather would take care of it. End it there. If you were honestly so concerned your children's safety, you would not be posting there pictures on Ebay, your posts or TR. Whether or not they get deleted from the webshots account or not. The best way to ensure your childrens safety would be to use a manniquin, water spot their faces, or edit the pictures to be headless.

I think the term CASE stands for Copy and Steal Everything
