I feel like I haven't been able to really post in a long time. I have loads of things I've been sewing & I finially have some pics to share.

This Cinderella dress was a birthday present for dd4's best friend:
2008_05150047.jpg

They both loved it & I think I'm probably going to have to make dd one now.

I used my Tink valance from the Wal-Mart clearance bin to make the girls matching sundresses:

I also made dd2 a couple of seersucker sundresses, I only have pics of one of them though. :headache:
2008_05200031.jpg

And I finished the Daisy Kingdon halter dress. I love the dress, but the pattern made me a bit crazy at times.

I've finished dd2's version of the Daisy Kingdom dress, but she hasn't tried it one yet. I made her and her BAB a Donald sailor dress for her birthday, but I don't have any pics of them either. I'm also working on a top for me & then I need to get busy on dd4's sailor dress.

Wow! Great job on everything! I love the Cinderella dress. The topskirt is so pouffy on the sides! I want one! And I'm dying to see the Donald sailor dresses!

Welcome back Teresa and Heather! I can't wait to go over and read your trip reports!! I'm thrilled to see that you've already started them. Nothing better than enjoying Disney vicariously through a family who loves to have fun together!!

Ok, I have been reading some of this thread and you ladies are AMAZING! I am not much of a seamstress, but my DD wants to have a minnie mouse dress for our trip in August. I can sew a bit, and would like to make this, mostly so it can be cool and light, and of a nicer fabric than I have seen at the disney store, plus she LOVES a full and flouncy skirt, which iirc is easy to make (but seems to be hard to find in stores!) I looked on ebay cause I thought I might find some handmade creations there, but didn't. Is there special 'disney' patterns, or do most of you just go with ordinary patterns? I am thinking of doing a sleevless dress anyway, just in the minnie fabric (polka dots) and then maybe make a matching bow for her hair. I figure that can't be too hard to mess up! Is it easy to make dresses with those kind of gathered/smocked elasticy looking tops that just tie at the shoulders ?, those are my favourite look, and would be so cool for August. Or would I be better to stick with a kind of plainer top? TIA for any advice for a VERY novice sewer:scared: ....

I think all of your questions have been snswered already so I'm just going to say "Welcome!!"

So I've just had the best day. Here's pictures of what I've done.

eta...OOPs, wrong picture - LOL!

What a lot of work! I bet it feels great to have a home for everything.

My sister just called me. My Aunt is in the ER, she had a heart attack. I think I am in shock. Please pray that she is ok. She has MAJOR anxiety issues and having all those people "fussing" with her is going to make her nuts.

Update-

They are doing a quadrupile bypass on my Aunt tonight. I am told they have a wonderful surgeon.

I hope everything goes well with the surgery and that she makes a full recovery.

Thank you all for the nice welcome back. Also thanks for the compliments on Katie's customs. I had a huge reply (with quotes) typed out twice and my computer froze up and I lost it. So I am sorry. I do appreciate all of the kind words.

Here are the larger pictures as requested:)

Thank you:)

As for Miss. Katie's binki :confused3 I have no clue how to get rid of it. It is totally my fault. I got rid of it for 4 days and gave it back. :rolleyes1 She just seemed so grown up without it and I could not handle it. Now I am so sorry. She will not let it out of her site. We tried to give it to Cinderella at Disney World and Katie was all for it until we actually got there. She started screaming in the line "DON'T LET 'RELLA TAKE MY BINKI". She only has one left and it is the last one. I will not buy anymore! I explained to Katie today (after searching for 20 minutes to find the thing) that this is her last binki and when it is lost, there are no more binki's. Katie's response was- "when I lose my binki you go to Target and buy me a new one" :rotfl2: She will not take one to college right?

Good the see you posting again! I love the dresses! Katie always looks adorable. :cutie:

Will she go to college with the binki? Probably not, but, at the age of 5 she may notice a child who sucks her thumb during rest time at school and she may think it's a fabulously soothing habit to pick up.Then you may not be able to break her of it until she is nearly 8 years old. Not that I know anyone who's DD has done this :rolleyes1

The Binki Fairy visited our house for both of my girls. She takes all the binkis and leaves a present. It's very exciting. If she accidentally leaves a binki behind, you can't use it or she will take your presents back! Oh, dear! No one wants that to happen!

She's very popular in our family. My DN even dressed like her for Halloween one year!

The Binki Fairy is what finally worked for us too. Thank goodness for her

Thank you all for the prayers!

I just talked to my Dad. The surgery went well. My Aunt is awake and trying to talk. She has a long way to go, but things look better today than yesterday.

My sister is driving from Texas to Michigan (right now-and has already had 1 blowout:scared1: on the road) to be with her.

That's great news. Yikes! I hope your sister makes is there safely.

Wow, you have been busy! The Cinderella dress is great and I love all the summer dresses for the girls. They look nice and comfy in them.

I'm so glad y'all understand that it's me giving in to the binki that Gabby. I mean she loves her binki but she only has it in bed (supposed to) I know that it's time to take it from her but it's hard when a) she goes to bed so easily with it and b) she's my last baby and taking it from her makes her feel less of a baby.

<sigh>

I've always been a bottle/binki natzi. In the trash they all go ont he first birthday. Gabby has been hard though. Wahhh

I can not wait to see your Minnie dress :goodvibes If anyone would like a pocket with the Mickey head embroidered on it, just let me know. I would be glad to send you one.

For the Cinderella pattern I used the Simplicity pattern #4949. It was pretty easy to follow. The only thing I had problem I had was with the top of the bodice. The instructions were very hard to read, so I had to ask my grandma for help. You do have to put in a zipper and also sleeves, but those tow things were pretty easy. The pattern calls for lace at the bottom, but I added a ruffle instead since I LOVE ruffles. I used a sparkly blue fabric and a shiny thin fabric (by the tulle), but I can not for the life of me remember what they are called. They are over by the satin not costum fabric. I will look for the cutting slip when I get home. I know I have it. I also linked the bodice with white cotton to make it more comfy for her to wear. It took me two days to make but hours wise probably 6. However, I did line it, top stitch and serge the entire thing. I also hand stitched all of the sequins around the bottom, waist and neckline.

Good Luck! If you have any problems with it ask away. I can try to help you.

I just happen to own that pattern, I bought it "just because" and I have to say yours looks much cuter than the one on the front of the pattern.
So the directions were tough? Did the pattern call for a lining?
did you buy your fabric at Joanns??
What size dress is that?
DD just turned 2 a few weeks ago and she isnt at the stage yet (I dont think) where she cares about Princesses so I dont know if I would make this as a "play dress" or try to squeeze it in before we leave next Thursday

Love Cinderella dress! How smart about using the tink Valance like that! I actually looked at it at one of our Walmarts and decided to leave itbecause I could not think outside thebox enough. May have to go back and see if they have it anymore now lol.

OK well we got her hair washed etc and flat ironed so I can take pictures lol. First DS 12s walker bag. I have been making him these for years but I added an outside pocket to this one. He can put his wallet adn cell phone in the side closest to him and the other side is big enough to fit the cups he normally uses! :)

She didn't know I had this fabric but when she saw it she said oh Mommy you made me princesses. I adore having a girly girl! :goodvibes:

It still hangs a bit wierd but I think I am happy with it. She was busy watching Hannah Montana and really was done with me having her try on clothes. When she put her shirt back on she said so we are DONE right Mommy lmao.

Goodness your Lydia is SUCH a gorgeous girl!!!:goodvibes

Thank you all for the prayers!

These are ALL gorgeous!!! You have been a busy girl!!! The Cinderella dress is beautiful!!! Your DDs friend is going to LOVE it!! What a nice thing to do!!!

I had that Eeyore fabric in my hands yesterday, and was sooooo close to buying it! Eeyore is my all time favorite character! I think I might just need to go back and get some, your dress turned out SOOOO cute!!! And, Brian has said that he wants to eat at Crystal Palace when we go next year, so that would be perfect!

1.)Welcome back Teresa and Heather! I can't wait to go over and read your trip reports!! I'm thrilled to see that you've already started them. Nothing better than enjoying Disney vicariously through a family who loves to have fun together!!

1.)Thanks!! It's nice to be home, but I wouldn't mind going back tomorrow!!!
B.)My neice (Arminda's twin cousin) is 10 and still sucks her thumb on a regular basis. I don't think they have tried to get her to stop, at least that I can see. We also have a 16 (almost 17) year old friend who sucks her thumb.

Arminda use to suck her two fingers, until she had to have a lot of dental work done when she was 3. After that, it wasn't so hard to get her to stop, and we promised her a new toy if she did! I think the finger sucking contributed to the dental problems but her dentist wasn't sure.

The walker bag looks great!!! You should try to get your son to model it for us though! We don't see many pictures of him!

Your daughter is too precious for words!!! I love the mask, you are very creative!!! The dresses are looking really cute.

I hope everything goes smoothly with the adoption!

Thanks everyone.

The eyeore started as seersucker, but the steam from my iron was enough to take all the texture out of it. It's still cute fabric, but I had quite a time finding other seersuckers to go with it & now (to me anyway) it's wierd because some of the fabrics are textured some aren't (one of the others lost texture too). Just thought I'd warn you.

Been mostly in lurker mode for the last couple of weeks. I have been sewing, though! Sadly, nothing Disney. DH just accepted a new job with a higher salary, so I'm trying very hard to talk him into celebrating at Disney, but he's not going for it. :confused3 He thinks we should save the money or something. :sad2:

Caleb had preschool graduation last Friday and I made Ella a little something to wear. I don't have any great pics of it, but it's Carla's peasant top and easy fit pants.

Sorry about the disguise sticker - that child doesn't belong to me, so I didn't want to plaster his face all over the net.

aww how sweet. I love her little dress..... super cute

Wow! That is a lot of cute stuff!! It looks like you went to some fun places, too! I wish it was warm enough up here to dress the kids in their summer clothes!

The walker bag is really cool! It's a good thing you can sew because I'm sure it would be pretty hard to find a custom walker bag like that!

The dresses are so cute! How sweet that your DD said you made her princesses! Don't you just love it when they like the things you make for them?

What a pretty outfit! I just love those muted floral patterns, so classic looking! Congratulations on preschool graduation, Caleb!!

Love the disguise! :rotfl:

We are in Little Rock near the river. So cool to have someone so close! We might have to have a playdate sometime!

I was just going to start organizing a bajillion pictures in the photobucket account and I came across this picture:
IMG_1289.jpg

Who made this FABULOUS cake!?!

OK, got one more! Here's a little number that was inspired by a set on :wizard: - it was really easy, just shirred the first few inches and the straps.

Little story: Ella has been to 3 weddings. She's absolutely obsessed. We went to one in January, right after we got back from WDW - she INSISTED that we "meet that white princess. Did we bring our book?" (autograph book.) My friend cracked up (and also was very flattered) when I told her Ella thought she was a Disney princess. OK, so I try this outfit on Ella and she gets all excited, asking if we are going to a wedding. No clue where she got the idea we were going to a wedding. Crazy girl.
