I wanted to share these yesterday but could not get the pictures to work. Thought I would try again today. Not as good as the rest of you but the best I can do right now. I have made 3 of these each with shorts and capris.

And I made my daughter and I matching shirt for our trip a week away.

So cute! You did a great job!!!!

I was just browsing on Etsy and I saw that someone has CASED my Mickey and Minnie kissing. Like I did on Jenna's blue MK shirt. I'm not mad I just thought I would share. Her dress is completely adorable.

They all turned out so cute. I like the twirl tops but I don't like doing them. I hate all that gathering that needs to be done.

Well, I finally got a few photos on the Photobucket account. This is a skirt I made a few weeks ago. The top I bought at WalMart. They are a little big on my dd, but should be fine for our Oct. trip.

DSC_0687.jpg

Since I have no idea how to applique, I added a store bought Tink.

That's adorable, Steve's Girl! LOVE the skirt! Tink is so sweet. When is your October trip? We are going Oct 5-11.

My mom and I are working on some outfits now. I bought all the fabric and I think I'm going to use these patterns. wish me luck - it's my first time sewing, but my mom will be able to help me out!

So Cute! The skirt you made is perfect with that shirt!! Awesome job!

SO, I had a sudden trip to Dallas come up! I'm going tomorrow to meet with a bride and mom of a wedding I'm coordinating. SO, before I meet with them, I GET TO GO TO JOANN'S! WOO HOO! That's reason to celebrate!:cool1: :cool1:

FUN! A wedding coordinator is one of those jobs I think I could really love.

We got the blood rest results on Oscar back on Tuesday. It was kind of good news. All of his tests were normal so they are thinking that he probably has epilepsy. The vet wants us to chart when he has seizures and their duration. Hopefully they won't be too frequent or last for too long (apparently seiuzures raise their body temp. and if they last for longer than 6 minutes he can get dangerously hot for brain functions). His first seizure was only about a minute (although it seemed like an eternity to me). If they are too frequent we have to take him to a neurologist who will do an MRI on him to make sure it is epilepsy and not a brain tumor. There is medication for epilepsy but the vet doesn't want him on it yet. Apparently the phenylbarbitol (I probably misspelled that) makes their liver function increase and the excrete the medication before it gets a chance to work completely and then they need to increase the dosage and the cycle continues. So best case scenario is that he has short seizures very infrequently (if ever again). Silly mutt making his Mom worry like this! He's my baby and I'm just glad he is okay. I was a mess when I took him to the Vet on Saturday! Crying in the office holding him on the floor. We must have looked like a pair to the vet! A hugely pregnant woman with a 230 pound dog laying across her on the floor :rotfl2: while crying! So even though this isn't perfect news, it is welcome news and I can handle this! Thanks so much for all of your prayers!

I'm so glad Oscar seems to be okay! I'm having a hard time with sick dog posts because our baby puppy is still with her mommy and we don't get her for 2 more weeks and I'm already so in love with her! I miss her! We have not had a dog for a year and a half. :(

BTW...I knew I forgot something!! I bought that shirred minnie fabric 2 weeks ago for my Lily and have been too lazy to sew the straps on:rotfl2: That'd be like even more Lilys!!!!

Get that camera out Tifani! We need some more Lilys!

That turned out great! It matches perfectly and I love the store bought Tink!

I have a question about a possible applique? My dd has a tink sweatshirt, after she outgrows the sweatshirt can I cut tink out and have it appliqued?

Okay now, I know the nap mat discussion was weeks ago, but we were just on our weekly visit to Great Harvest and the quilt shop next door had a few items on a little sidewalk sale and one of them was this darling quilted, appliqued nap mat for only $16.99 It even has a built in pillow. If I ever do make a nap mat I will copy this one. I love it. Sorry the pics are not great :confused3 I'm using my "backup camera"

Rolled up it attaches with velcro strips and has a handle:

Here is the "back" the bunnies and flowers are appliqued with a satin stitch, not embroidered.

The foldout blanket which is a thin soft fleecy fabric edged with bias tape:

The "hidden zipper" so you can take the pillow out. It is a basic travel size pillow. I would skip the zipper if I were making one and just probably make that pillow permanently sewn in!

And my model:
(yes that is my foot in the corner and I totally KNOW I need a pedicure, so if one of you would come babysit my children, I'd love to go get one!)

She's been laying on it for the past 20 minutes, I think she's almost asleep! :thumbsup2

:wizard: You can do it!!!

I don't gather it myself, I bought a ruffling foot, I LOVE MY RUFFLING FOOT, one great invention. I did the gathering for all 3 oufits in about 30 minutes.
I've been afraid to try the ruffling foot. I may have to give it a try!

Okay, here is Lily's pre-shirred, pre-hemmed Minnie dress from Joanns. I did not adjust the length at all, just sewed it up and added ribbons. She inisited on wearing it even though it is FREEZING outside right now. Good thing we're not going anywhere! And please NO CASING this!!!!! ALL of my creative powers went into this one!:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: (just to be sure, you know I'm all kidding, right?) And hey, it matches the purple purse she must carry everywhere!

th_IMG_0438-1.jpg
Love it!!! She looks great in that color!! And a matching purse too! What a fashionista!! BTW- I did see the tink outfit!! IT is very cute too!!!
I finally got Violette into the pooh outfit....um yea...this is the best I could do, she just wants to run around..hehehe...hopefully that's clear enough :) I just pinned the shorts because I don't want to put an elastic in them til it's time to go to Disney. But I'm thinking I might add another ruffle to the bottom instead and make it a dress. What do you think?

Don't love it when they don't cooperate :worried:
Aunt Update!

She is HOME!!!!!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I just talked to my Uncle and he told me she is sleeping on the couch right now:thumbsup2
I'm glad she is home and hope she recovers and heals quickly!!

It has just been awful, with the clean up and nowhere for some of these people to go...My boyfriend had to take items to them from Wal-Mart he is a manager and he said it literally looked like what you would imagine a war zone as.

The dates on the camera must have been set wrong...
We had tornados sunday- 3 blocks from my cousins house there houses that looked like that- she lives in hugo, mn. Tornados are so scary because they go up in clouds and come back down whereever they want. That tornado touched down 4 separate times!! My cousin only had some siding damage.
Prayers and thought for all those in your area too!!!

One outfit closer to being done. Still a few more to go.

it is interesting. I posted on another msg board about my wedding conundrum and I am getting very mixed responses. Some are saying I am absolutely wrong and others are saying I am absolutey right. And these women mostly have kids of varying ages - from a few months to 8 or 9 years old.

I have to agree with what most others have said. The original offer that was made to you, in writing no less, has been rescinded. Therefore, you regrettfully have to rescind your RSVP. I think it is riduculous and rude to uninvite a guest after the invitations have been sent out. I can only assume that after the RSVPs came back, they decided they needed to cut back for some reason. Who knows. Guess they should have planned a little better before sending invitations. Enjoy your birthday with your family!

Absolutely it is the bride and grooms day and I have no problem with a no children policy. I have issue with the fact that one day Lauren is invited and gets an invitation. The next week - she isn't invited anymore.

You will have to post pics of the dress and the party.

Yup, already talked to the bride and she just changed her mind when she saw how may kids were going to be there. FYI - the wedding is outside at a family campground type place without the camping. Volleyball, horse shoes, that type of thing.

Definitely agree with those who say your family has first priority in your life. You accepted based on the original invitation; the adjusted version doesn't work for your family.

Not to mention it's also a special day for you--your birthday--and you want to spend it with your immediate family!

I have to admit that I'm the family rogue. I told them long ago not to expect me to do certain things--and I don't. They don't like it, but my free time is too scarce to spend it doing things I absolutely detest.

You guys are amazing!

After reading this thread the other day I decided to try and get the tension on my sewing machine fixed. So i took it to a local sewing shop and they wanted $80 to clean it and then if the problem wasn't fixed they would tell me the cost from there. UGH the machine was probably only about $150 to begin with and I don't think it is worth spending $80 for a maybe it will be fixed. What do you guys think?

So in the mean time I have been itching to sew something. Figures I don't have a machine and now all I want to do is sew something!

Any way i have been looking around at a new machine and of course I fell in love with the new Singer Curvy but it is $$ and I am such a basic sewer and I really don't need all of that fancy stuff at least not yet.

Do you guys have any suggestions on a good inexpensive basic machine?

My mom has one she bought a few yrs ago and hasn't even opened the box and if I still lived in GA I told her I would be taking possession of it but since I live in IL now I bet the shipping would be $$. She told me to move back and it is mine . Easier said then done:idea:

Would she ship it?

Particularly if you pay for the shipping? Not cheap, but it would be less than a new machine! *LOL*

Great job! Your DD looks so cute. Don't even get me started talking about that pattern. In a previous post I put in a bunch of photos of things I have made with it. My last count was 22 I think, but now it is higher than that :scared1: I finished another one (plain, dress, ivory, no pics) last night. I love it!:cool1:

This was our deck on sunday evening after the tornado and storms went through- dd thought is was great that we had ice all over the deck, she wanted to eat it!! :crazy2:

And here is sophia in her pooh top- My grammy sewed it for her. I cut it out :rolleyes1

And we thought our kids grew up fast!! LOL

47b8db11b3127ccec468c6bdf85d00000046101AZsXLhszbMQe3nwU

Sorry it's looking all wrinkly- It's been all folded up for awhile:rolleyes1 I did attempt to do the eyes but the first one was all wonky so I gave up!!
I found blue fabric with bananas all over it to make outfits for the kids.
Also I thinked I missed the quote for glorib- Fancy nancy looks lovely!!

dds favorite books are the David books by David shannon- No David, Davids in trouble, David goes to school- Well I was thinking I should make/ get her a "david outfit"- It's pretty simple blue and white striped shirt and red pants. Although I don't think too many people would know who she was supposed to be and would think I was weird for dressing her up boyish- so maybe a red skirt instead of pants would make it more feminine. hmmmmm Well any way she will not allow us to read her any other books- only David!!! She can read them to us we have read them so many times!! I got a new one at the library last night and she has already memorized it!!! Ahhh kids they are so funny!!! And Cute!!

That mat is so cute - great find! OK, I know you've said that we have similar taste in things, but I think we must be living parallel lives or something - Ella has that same outfit on today! Well, she has the shorts instead of capris, but same color and same top. Freaky! If we lived closer, I would totally come babysit - I think Ella and Lily would have a blast together!
