I was just browsing on Etsy and I saw that someone has CASED my Mickey and Minnie kissing. Like I did on Jenna's blue MK shirt. I'm not mad I just thought I would share. Her dress is completely adorable.

This is SOOOO cute and would be great for Valentine's Day at Disney!! Too cute...Sorry they cased you though...:(

Well, I finally got a few photos on the Photobucket account. This is a skirt I made a few weeks ago. The top I bought at WalMart. They are a little big on my dd, but should be fine for our Oct. trip.

DSC_0687.jpg

Since I have no idea how to applique, I added a store bought Tink.

DSC_0689.jpg

We bought this same top today too...it did run a little big, but it's really cute. I love the skirt you made. This is the one pattern I haven't tried yet. I'm impressed with how well it came out.

I don't really care. In fact I'm flattered that someone thought something I did was cute enough to CASE. I think her's is better though. I only made Jenna's shirt for our trip and don't plan on making any more of them unless asked to do so.

Just finished page 181. I'm so far behind!

I have two questions:

First: For those of you out there who do not have sergers, when you sew something, do you zigzag around every piece before you start? I know LisaZoe said that she did this before she got a serger but I was wondering if anyone else was this anal, or is it just me? I hate to have little threads hanging off everywhere and this seems to do the trick until I get a serger but was just wondering. Of course I'm doing a storybook panel skirt with lots of small pieces and hate zigzagging all of them but too anal to stop!

Second: This is probably something that only I don't know,..........but when you buy fabric there are all of the circles on the sides with numbers in them. What do those mean? Is it for buying coordinating fabric and colors? If I buy a fabric that has a blue circle with a number 4 in it, will it match another fabric that has a blue circle with a number 4 in it?

Okay, thanks for the break from zigzagging! I'll get back to it now!

I need a serger so I can stop all of the zigzagging! Or no more patchwork skirts with little pieces!

Okay, so it looks like I am the only crazy one who zig zags all of the pieces. I also go back after I sew them together and zig zag the pieces together. Iron the extra fabric to one side and possibly topstitch it (if it calls for it). Good to know how crazy I am!

It is hard to keep typing zig zag!

Any takers on the second question? What are the color circles with numbers in them on the sides of the fabric?

The colour dots/circles are to proof the ink colours and registration--just as if you were printing a magazine! They match specified colours. Not sure about the numbers, though.

So remember I was telling you all that I had to make Andrew a colonial day outfit for school, well here it is! (I bought the hat)
clothingcreations074.jpg

CarlaC's eayfit pants and peasant! Sorry for the awful pic...
Great job.

No customs to share but look what came in the mail!! It's not really that long on her. I cut my poor girls legs off in the picture!

And some fabulous bows. These are actually for an outfit I'm still working on!!

So cute!

I love this!! I have been searching all morning for a nap mat for Lexie for preschool, without luck. It's just the wrong season...I wonder if I could whip up this in a week or so...LOL
You could probably whip it up in a hour or so. Didn't you whip up that super cute Mickey/Minnie dress a few mornings ago?:worship:

Just a quick hi from Disney World- I know I left and was on page 172, so I have a lot of catching up to do.

No pics to post- sorry, I will share when I get home and can load them all up. I havent reviewed any.

We started out by sleeping through our alarm clock, running very late to airport, Megan got car sick all over her Mickey Mouse outfit (the dark blue with mickey mouse and yellow with little red dots) and a white sweater. Luckily I was able to catch a LOT of it with a blanket that was in the car (which is now sitting in the car at the airport) wonder what our car will smell like when we get home????
So- we rushed to the check in, got there at 7:10 for our 7:35 flight- they wouldnt let us board. Missed our flight. First and only time in my life.
Next flight out for Jet Blue.....9PM!!!!
After getting over the shock of it all and panicing a bit, my husband said, well lets find another flight- we arent gonna let this totally ruin our trip. (I just love him)
We went and bought tickets on American. $638......
We did miss our lunch ressie in the countries and it was a long flight (boarded at 8:45, got there about 12:40) we never bothered to gripe or otherwise continue with negative conversation about the missed flight, other than to wish we could do it over again, and sad we shorted ourselves several morning hours. Better to look forward than behind!
Got here, got luggage and rental car fine.
Checked in the Boardwalk Villas- I am in LOVE with this resort!!!!!!! We have the BEST room with the BEST view! I am soooo feeling the magic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went to dinner at MGM- 50s Primetime (missed our Biergarten-Megan was sleeping) Great dinner- we had lost our dining card on our Oct trip.
I explained what happened and asked if they could tell me where I could go to get a new card. They said they'd send a Manager by.
She came, was very nice, asked for my Annual pass....and showed up later with a new card- NO $25 replacement fee!!! She went to customer service for me. I'm soooooooo sooooo sooooo feeling the magic!!
Took the boat home.
Okay, gotta go- my balcony is calling- there's a great entertainer on the boardwalk.
Hugs to all of you!

  Below is some of the pictures of what the tornados in our area did on Monday...

It has just been awful, with the clean up and nowhere for some of these people to go...My boyfriend had to take items to them from Wal-Mart he is a manager and he said it literally looked like what you would imagine a war zone as.

The dates on the camera must have been set wrong...

OMG! I'm glad you're ok!

Ok, my original plan was to read this thread ALL THE WAY from the beginning and then jump in but I'm starting to think I will never catch up if I do that!!

(although I have gotten a fair way in and am really wondering what was for sale on ebay with ferrets on it for a baby, for you folks that have been around forever :rotfl2: )

I am a very novice sewer but I am very excited to get started once we finish decluttering the spare room/exercise room/sewing room/ "I don't know what to do with it so I'm going to put it in here" room.

My question for today is, has anyone done anything cool with beach towels? I passed up an Ariel wallhanging at Wal-Mart the other day on clearance in the fabric section because I couldn't think of what to do with it, and had to go back and buy several when two pages later there was a very cool peasant top made out of it. SO, since disneyshopping has beach towels on sale, I'm wondering if anyone has made fun projects out of them that I would never think of!

I'm planning to make an a-line dress kinda cover up for my DD to wear over her swim suit. I think I'll check out disneyshopping to see what they have.

I was just browsing on Etsy and I saw that someone has CASED my Mickey and Minnie kissing. Like I did on Jenna's blue MK shirt. I'm not mad I just thought I would share. Her dress is completely adorable.

I love this! You did a great job!

That's adorable, Steve's Girl! LOVE the skirt! Tink is so sweet. When is your October trip? We are going Oct 5-11.

My mom and I are working on some outfits now. I bought all the fabric and I think I'm going to use these patterns. wish me luck - it's my first time sewing, but my mom will be able to help me out!

prodfl944826_300.jpg

prodfl951441_300.jpg

prodfl950706_300.jpg

prodfl951920_300.jpg

All of those patterns look great! I'm particularly drawn to the patterns by CarlaC - they're VERY detailed. There's no guessing in exactly how to do something.

I have a question about a possible applique? My dd has a tink sweatshirt, after she outgrows the sweatshirt can I cut tink out and have it appliqued?

Yes, you can!

Okay now, I know the nap mat discussion was weeks ago, but we were just on our weekly visit to Great Harvest and the quilt shop next door had a few items on a little sidewalk sale and one of them was this darling quilted, appliqued nap mat for only $16.99 It even has a built in pillow. If I ever do make a nap mat I will copy this one. I love it. Sorry the pics are not great :confused3 I'm using my "backup camera"

Rolled up it attaches with velcro strips and has a handle:

th_DSCN3097-1.jpg

This is SO CUTE! I love the quilting on it! I'm guessing you could do something similar with pre-quiled fabrics (like the kinds that are used to make nursery bedding)

I really like the Peasant top pattern! Can you tell:

th_pooh.jpg

One outfit closer to being done. Still a few more to go.

You're doing great! The peasant top is a great place to start!

This was our deck on sunday evening after the tornado and storms went through- dd thought is was great that we had ice all over the deck, she wanted to eat it!! :crazy2:

I also can NOT find a low shank screw on open toe/applique foot anywhere!!! I started curious george face appliques and I can't do the eyes til I can see better!! Oh I should post a pic of how it looks so far it is turning out pretty good.
And here is sophia in her pooh top- My grammy sewed it for her. I cut it out :rolleyes1

I think they will be ready to fly away in about another week!!
And we thought our kids grew up fast!! LOL

WOW! That hail looks like it was pretty scary!

Those baby birds are really amazing! How neat to be able to watch them grow!

Glad you're there and enjoying yourself. Sorry you had a bad start - but I hope the rest of your vacation is absolutely magical!

SOOO - I went to Joann's today. I didn't get a lot - there wasn't a lot that just jumped out at me. I did get the fishy fabric that matches the gymbo line, and a few fabric book panels. That's about it. I just got home, read the posts from today, and I'm exhausted. I've spent lots of time on the road today, and I'm worn out! SO - goodnight ladies! I'll be up and sewing with you tomorrow!

AArrgg!!! $*%(#*$ I give up!! I was making a round neck top (YCMT) for my neices birthday party tomorrow. I cut it wrong, had to rip out the "sleeve" and sewed the silly collar off center, so I've given up for the night!! I am obviously not meant to sew tonight!! I'll head out tomorrow and get a store bought *gasp* outfit.

Glad to hear good news.  Don't worry about crying. I think the vets see it a lot when their patients are sick.

When I took my schnauzer in to get her blood sugar tested and it was really high I started crying too. She is improving and her sugars aren't as high. Which reminds me it is almost time for her insulin. But knowing she has a chronic illness makes me sad.

Thanks so much for the well wishes about Oscar! Hope she keeps improving and that her sugars stay low.

They're color registers for printing that show whether the pattern and dyes are lined up correctly-- (picture from here: http://www.taunton.com/threads/pages/th_t00015.asp)

(where's the nerd smilie? ;) )

Thanks so much for the information! I always wondered what they were for!

I'm glad to hear he is doing better. My husband and I have a black lab, Malie (and a yorkie). About two years ago on a Sunday afternoon Malie started throwing up and then seized up, with her eyes bugged out and legs straight out. It was pretty scary. So we went to the emergency vet (Sunday afternoon) and after numerous tests, an overnight stay, and $800 the vet told us she just threw up so hard that she seized up!!! :confused3 I mean it was great that she wasn't sick, but man that was a lot of money for a big throw up.:lmao: She is perfectly fine now and has never had another seizure. Hopefully everything will be okay with Oscar  . I understand how you feel - they are our little babies, just like our kids will be (in 7 weeks!!)

Jess

That sounds like something Oscar would do! Things like that (crazy things I mean) seem to happen to us a lot. Oscar is my baby but he really is a silly dog. I love him dearly and will do whatever is necessary for him but really, the dog is a MESS! A huge mess and he is an indoor dog, can't stand to be away from his Momma for long. Goofy dog. Did I mention that he is almost 100% blind too? Thankfully his other senses must be making up for his blindness since he doesn't walk into things too often. I've got to post pictures of him again so all of the newbies can see my baby!

Awww that sounds like my JoAnn's lately...nothing good when it comes to Disney fabric! :confused3

What is going on with Joann's and their licensed fabric lately? The last two or three times I've been in there they have barely had any licensed fabric. Mostly they have had fleece and a few silky fabrics but I'm not sure that they had ANY cottons that were licensed and if they did there wasn't any Disney.

I was just browsing on Etsy and I saw that someone has CASED my Mickey and Minnie kissing. Like I did on Jenna's blue MK shirt. I'm not mad I just thought I would share. Her dress is completely adorable.

Great job! Love the skirt!

I don't remember who posted pictures of the tornado area but I thought I had marked them to comment but I must have lost them.

So anyway, I'm glad you are okay and wow, that really must have been something to be there for all of that. Stay safe, this has been a crazy storm season everywhere!

Just finished page 181. I'm so far behind!

The colour dots/circles are to proof the ink colours and registration--just as if you were printing a magazine! They match specified colours. Not sure about the numbers, though.

Thanks for the help!

Sorry for the bad start! Hope it all goes better and I'm so glad you're able to put it behind you! Have a great time!

Mostly they have had fleece and a few silky fabrics but I'm not sure that they had ANY cottons that were licensed and if they did there wasn't any Disney.

You know I wonder about this too. My Joann's has a TON of Licensed fabric. Disney, Muppets, Care Bears all kinds of stuff. But it is ALL FLANNEL-ummm in FLORIDA!!!!!!! What are we supposed to do with flannel?:lmao:

It's my turn for crazy storm weather! :scared1: The sirens went off a half hour ago and we were under a Tornado Warning! Had to wake up DD, try to get her to go down to the basement so I could grab my laptop and purse. DS just rolled his eyes at me (teenagers!). About the time I hit the basement I heard hail. The news reported that a police officer spotted a funnel cloud 20 miles from me. The warning expired and we are now having a lot of rain and lightening.

It is a good thing tomorrow is Saturday so I can sleep in some!

I've been working on my BIG GIVE outfit today and I'm not happy with the applique yet. So, I might try and handstitch around Simba's face a little bit because he's looking a little washed out. If it was for Tessa I'd leave it alone, but since it's for someone else, I'm a little pickyer. I also made Tessa some Hannah Montana pajamas. She really wanted that flannel HM fabric, so I spent $7 on it and several hours making it. I could have just went to the clothing department at Walmart and bought some HM pajamas for $10.:rotfl2: See what you people have done to me!

Just a quick hi from Disney World- I know I left and was on page 172, so I have a lot of catching up to do.
ACK! How stressful that you missed your flight! I'm glad you made it down there and that you have started having some fun! I can't wait to see pictures.

I would SO come babysit! Pedi's are a MUST for sanity keep-age!;)
A-HA! So, that's my problem! I've never had a pedicure!:lmao:

That is such a pretty petti! Tessa won't wear hers. :( :lmao:

I LOVE Sophia's Pooh top! That is just too cute! If I send you my fabric and patterns, will you cut them all out for me? ;) That is the WORST part! (I have to say I'm kidding now because you're so sweet, you'd probably do it).

dds favorite books are the David books by David shannon- No David, Davids in trouble, David goes to school- Well I was thinking I should make/ get her a "david outfit"- It's pretty simple blue and white striped shirt and red pants. Although I don't think too many people would know who she was supposed to be and would think I was weird for dressing her up boyish- so maybe a red skirt instead of pants would make it more feminine. hmmmmm Well any way she will not allow us to read her any other books- only David!!! She can read them to us we have read them so many times!! I got a new one at the library last night and she has already memorized it!!! Ahhh kids they are so funny!!! And Cute!!
Tessa loves the David books, too. My mom has a few of them and she just thinks they're hilarious!

I was just looking at that ferret BABY BONNET!!! the other day while I was trying to save my Photobucket pictures, I didn't save that one! I wish I had. I think Heather is the one that posted it, maybe she still has a copy of it! It was HIDEOUS! Truly and completely HIDEOUS!!! And funny!
Unfortunately, I don't have the picture of the hideous ferret baby bonnet. To think someone once thought that was pretty enough to buy!

Very cute! I love how you did the buttons on that Mickey shirt. You did a great job on all of these!

th_DSC_0687.jpg

Since I have no idea how to applique, I added a store bought Tink.
SOO cute!! I love this style and the fabrics you used. Have you checked out my applique tutorial? It's in Teresa's bookmarks under "Applique".

Oh NO! How scary!! I'm so glad you are okay!

You are too funny, Jeanne!! It also helps to dress your kid like the character in question!

Oh my goodness, how absolutely adorable!!

YIKES! She still looks beautiful, but what a shock that must have been! Tessa's 2 front teeth are VERY loose, but it's her bottom teeth. She's never lost a tooth and she's very excited about it.

THAT is adorable!!! You got the outfit perfect! I'd never read a Fancy Nancy book, so Teresa brought one over today. It was really cute! I just bought a couple of the "I Can Read" Fancy Nancy books for Tessa on amazon.com for $3.99.

I just love that you're the 2nd person to post that you grabbed your laptop before you hit the basement! :rotfl2: I'm glad you guys are all right. We had some storms tonight, but nothing serious.

I just love that you're the 2nd person to post that you grabbed your laptop before you hit the basement! :rotfl2: I'm glad you guys are all right. We had some storms tonight, but nothing serious.

Hey, a girl has to have a way to pass the time! Plus my life is on it so you better believe I am grabbing it!

I just love that you're the 2nd person to post that you grabbed your laptop before you hit the basement! :rotfl2: I'm glad you guys are all right. We had some storms tonight, but nothing serious.

I have dog kennels that stay in the storm celler. All 4 the dogs go down plus people. I keep my picture cd's down there all of the time. I always grab baby books too. I used to have a problem with moisture down there and my storage. I found that if I stored in an ice chest then there wasn't any temperature difference causing condensation.

When the big record breaking F5 tornado came through our town in '99 there were 14 people, 8 dogs and a cat in my mom's storm celler. It was a bit noisy but oh well.

Glad everyone is staying safe with all of this crazy weather. Our weather was crazy the other night. I called my parents at 1am and my Dad came and got me and my kids. My husband works nights I didn't think I could get down in the celler, if need be, with DD4, DD2 and brand new DS by myself. I loaded my dogs into their kennels in the celler at my house and headed to my parents and spent the rest of the night there. Luckily the storms died down and we didn't have to go to the celler. We have GREAT weather people here and usually have good warnings. They usually can tell us what street it is going down and what time it will get to our part of town. Thank goodness.

I finally got pictures taken. I swear if I ever have the idea to do another Cinderella skirt I will have to jump off a large building. I think I spent a good amount of time just cursing my idea but I finally managed to get my idea into fabric, although I really needed more fabric but I'm out of time.

Here's what I've got so far, I'm also going to reuse a couple of customs like the Animal Kingdom swing top and the EPCOT Friends Around the World swing top from a couple of trips ago, oh, and the Minnie Mouse swing top and matching bloomers. I decided to give up on too much more sewing. I will be appliqueing a few things tomorrow afternoon but other than that I think I'm more than done.

My case of Jham! Although I did use a different ribbon. :duck:

This is my first made to match gymbo outfit. I wasn't going to do this but I ended up just absolutely HAVING to make this skirt.

Delaney is going to wear it to her birthday party tomorrow. I'm hoping it stays relatively clean so she can wear it to Crystal Palace on Tuesday which is her actual birthday.

I'm half way to packed, the house still looks like a bomb went off in it but hopefully it will all come together tomorrow afternoon. Delaney's party is only 90 minutes long so we should have plenty of time to get things done.

Now if I could only remember where I put that envelope of Disney Dollars I'd 2be in business, only 30 1/2 hours to go until we leave for the airport.
