WOW! That's fabulous!!

MM HMM... See, cuter, I told you so:cutie:

I've given up my quest for Lil' Einstein fabric...Thanks everyone for the offers...it was for her MGM (DHS???? ) And yesterday at Joann's I found the coolest toy story fabric. And in light of Toy Story Mania we decided to go w/ that. I may try to do a rex applique on the bodice (after I get a few mickey heads under my belt:rotfl2: ) She loves dinosaurs. Besides brother wanted something w/ buzz on it. He doesnt like this fabric though. It is blue w/ clouds and the TS logo and woody and buzz all over. I LOVE IT!!

I will have to get on :wizard: to look for some C&D fabric, i guess:mad:

When I get home from work I will post a pic of some Buzz and Zurg fabric that I have. It looks like a comic book. It is too cute. I plan on making a shirt for Jenna with it.

It has just been awful, with the clean up and nowhere for some of these people to go...My boyfriend had to take items to them from Wal-Mart he is a manager and he said it literally looked like what you would imagine a war zone as.

The dates on the camera must have been set wrong...

You've done such a great job on all of your outfits. I'm glad you posted them because I had missed some of them. Have a wonderful vacation!

edited to add.. had to delete some of the outfits because I had too many images...

The dress is very pretty and I can't believe you did that without a pattern! I can't wait to see the Pooh outfit.

okay here it is the great hair chopping of 2008! I am ready for Florida heat now!!!! Wish I could unload the extra weight that easy.
Befor the cut!

After the cut and covering my grey!:cool1:
th_P5290062.jpg

Wow, you must feel so much lighter!

Okay, here is Lily's pre-shirred, pre-hemmed Minnie dress from Joanns. I did not adjust the length at all, just sewed it up and added ribbons. She inisited on wearing it even though it is FREEZING outside right now. Good thing we're not going anywhere! And please NO CASING this!!!!! ALL of my creative powers went into this one!:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: (just to be sure, you know I'm all kidding, right?) And hey, it matches the purple purse she must carry everywhere!

IMG_0442-1.jpg

And just so we have too much Lilys:

IMG_0438-1.jpg

Too much Lily's always makes my day!

I finally got Violette into the pooh outfit....um yea...this is the best I could do, she just wants to run around..hehehe...hopefully that's clear enough :) I just pinned the shorts because I don't want to put an elastic in them til it's time to go to Disney. But I'm thinking I might add another ruffle to the bottom instead and make it a dress. What do you think?
th_004-3-1.jpg

I think it's really cute and I like it just the way it is.

:offtopic:
Tomorrow is DD's Last Day of School. She has been running a fever since Wednesday night. Right now it is 101.1 She also has a headache and a sore throat.

They are having a baby shower for DD's Teacher at 11:00.

So do I take DD to school for the day? What if she doesn't have a fever tomorrow morning. Usually I don't send her back for 24 hours after the fever.

But I know she will need to bring some stuff home from school too.

Should I just go in to the school and drop off the gift and pick up DD's stuff? I think that is the best choice. I really don't want to expose the pregnant teacher to DD's germs.

Has your child ever been sick on the last day of school?

Poor thing, she must be so disappointed. Do the teachers have inservice days next week? Maybe you could arrange to bring her in to see her teacher then.

I think we're heading out to Build-a-Bear for a little while, as soon as DH gets in the door, Delaney got her little birthday certificate in the mail and she's ready to go spend it. We apparently need a birthday bear, not that the other 500 stuffed animals in this house want more competition, I was hoping she'd get a new princess dress for her bear but apparently it has switched gender again and is a boy again. I'm probably going to have to get the bear in therapy, he's probably very confused right now, he started as a boy, then was a girl and now is a boy again. Poor guy. Fickle preschooler. :lmao:

My DD loves baby dolls and has several baldheaded ones. They frequently change from boy to girl too. Crazy kids!:rotfl:

We got the blood rest results on Oscar back on Tuesday. It was kind of good news. All of his tests were normal so they are thinking that he probably has epilepsy. The vet wants us to chart when he has seizures and their duration. Hopefully they won't be too frequent or last for too long (apparently seiuzures raise their body temp. and if they last for longer than 6 minutes he can get dangerously hot for brain functions). His first seizure was only about a minute (although it seemed like an eternity to me). If they are too frequent we have to take him to a neurologist who will do an MRI on him to make sure it is epilepsy and not a brain tumor. There is medication for epilepsy but the vet doesn't want him on it yet. Apparently the phenylbarbitol (I probably misspelled that) makes their liver function increase and the excrete the medication before it gets a chance to work completely and then they need to increase the dosage and the cycle continues. So best case scenario is that he has short seizures very infrequently (if ever again). Silly mutt making his Mom worry like this! He's my baby and I'm just glad he is okay. I was a mess when I took him to the Vet on Saturday! Crying in the office holding him on the floor. We must have looked like a pair to the vet! A hugely pregnant woman with a 230 pound dog laying across her on the floor :rotfl2: while crying! So even though this isn't perfect news, it is welcome news and I can handle this! Thanks so much for all of your prayers!

I'm so glad your fur baby is doing better and that the news was good!!!:goodvibes

Thank goodness y'all weren't hurt!

Ok, my original plan was to read this thread ALL THE WAY from the beginning and then jump in but I'm starting to think I will never catch up if I do that!!

(although I have gotten a fair way in and am really wondering what was for sale on ebay with ferrets on it for a baby, for you folks that have been around forever :rotfl2: )

I am a very novice sewer but I am very excited to get started once we finish decluttering the spare room/exercise room/sewing room/ "I don't know what to do with it so I'm going to put it in here" room.

My question for today is, has anyone done anything cool with beach towels? I passed up an Ariel wallhanging at Wal-Mart the other day on clearance in the fabric section because I couldn't think of what to do with it, and had to go back and buy several when two pages later there was a very cool peasant top made out of it. SO, since disneyshopping has beach towels on sale, I'm wondering if anyone has made fun projects out of them that I would never think of!

I went to JoAnn's last Saturday to look for Disney fabric for the Disboutique Big Give. Almost nothing. They had four bolts of the pre-shirred fabric, only one of which was cute (Tinkerbell). I'm making some accessories rather than clothing, so I'm going to have to be creative. Should be interesting! *LOL

Thanks. :) I have no idea who the original idea come form for most of my stuff but I'll do my best!! I only have like 5 outfits to share so I won't have to do much research. LOL

I am definitely not selling. LOL You'd couldn't pay me enough to make even one simple outfit because I am so slow and it takes me forever to do one simple thing. ;) Plus, all my stuff falls apart when I wash it so I don't think anyone would want any of my things anyway. They'd be demanding a refund! LOL :lmao:

Which leads me to this question. My appliques fray away from my embroidery line when I wash them. I put them in the machine on Hand wash so I thought I'd be safe that way. How do you keep them from fraying? I wonder if I just make my embroidery line to thin. Any tips??? It's too much work to wear just once. ;)

If you're going to launder the appliques, use Heat'N'Bond Lite or something similar or interface with fusible light weight interfacing (Tricot knit is a good option). The fusible adhesive is good, as you can fuse the applique in place before stitching, but interfacing does work well.

Then stitch around the applique once with a very narrow, slightly long (longer than you want the finished stitch to be) zig zag stitch. You can outline features/details with a straight stitch. Then go over the outline with a slightly wider, denser zig zag, and finish the details with a narrow, dense zig zag stitch.

Another possibility is to retain the edges on the applique (if you have any--if you've pieced it, you probably won't), add the fusible adhesive or interfacing, then stitch the outline with a very narrow, slightly long zig zag stitch. Then cut it out, clipping as close as possible to those outside threads. Then use the slightly wider, denser stitch to secure it to your garment.

YAY!!!!:cool1:

how are you feeling?

 or :cool1: ?

aren't emoticons fun?!

:moped:

Somewhere between the two! Better yesterday, worse today. This is weird.

SO, I had a sudden trip to Dallas come up! I'm going tomorrow to meet with a bride and mom of a wedding I'm coordinating. SO, before I meet with them, I GET TO GO TO JOANN'S! WOO HOO! That's reason to celebrate!
Shannon, I'm glad you have somewhere fun to go!!!

:rotfl2: I thought my daughter was the only one that did this! LOL We were just talking about it today. She's 3. She has a blue hippo webkins. She named it King Louie Bluey....a boy. BUT he wears a dress!!!!!! LOLOLOL

I'm working on two of the preshirred tops. I got them at walmart. A tink one and an ariel one. I just have to put the straps on. The girls are wearing them to school in the morning. I'll have pics tomorrow. I've got to finish up the teacher gifts. Koozies. I've got one done and I'm about to put the other one in the hoop to embroider. Nighty night!
Ok, what's a Koozie??
Hey BIG GIVERS - Alicia wanted me to pass on the link to her Pre-Trip Report. She said she will be posting pictures of Isabelle in all her Big Give outfits on there!!! (Ohh I can't wait to see Isabelle in all of them). I highly recommended she NOT stalk the DisBoutique thread for awhile, if she wanted to be surprised when the outfits arrived.

Anyway...here is the link for those interested:

Thank you for the link Beth!

Aw, that's so nice of him to say! If your DH is anything like mine, him noticing that is a HUGE compliment, so you'll have to thank him for me!
Well, let's just say I got my haircut on Wednesday, I had about 3-4 inches cut off, and he STILL has NOT noticed! :confused3

I will definetely thank him for you!
Great Idea!! as long as the Jurassic Park symbol is in the shirt that should do, right????? I'll check it out!! Thanks so much!! Wendy
If you need a picture of it, or can't find it, let me know! :thumbsup2
Vegas is back to being a girl today. Delaney picked out a Cinderella dress, shoes, and a Hannah Montana t-shirt instead of getting another bear (thank goodness, we are over run with stuffed animals.)

I think Vegas will have an exciting trip to Disney and she/he has a few outfits to wear. Now I just have to finish sewing.
Sounds like our house! We have SOOO many BABs! I always beg the girls to buy outfits instead of MORE animals! But, I guess I don't blame them, they really have some cute animals there!

Oh my goodness!!! How awful! Are you and all your loved ones ok??? The picture of the high school really got to me, with the writing still on the white board, and it looking like the kids could have just walked out.

They're color registers for printing that show whether the pattern and dyes are lined up correctly-- (picture from here: http://www.taunton.com/threads/pages/t00015.asp)

:welcome: !!!!! I was just looking at that ferret BABY BONNET!!! the other day while I was trying to save my Photobucket pictures, I didn't save that one! I wish I had. I think Heather is the one that posted it, maybe she still has a copy of it! It was HIDEOUS! Truly and completely HIDEOUS!!! And funny!

1) It was a baby bonnet with actual (stuffed) ferret heads on it. And yes, it was as hideous as it sounds! :rotfl2:

2) I read someone is making a swimsuit cover-up, which sounds like a great idea.

So glad Oscar is doing better. I have cried in the vet's office many a time. to all those dealing with sick relatives, kids and pets.

I have three pages of quotes saved in Word with the intent of going back and responding, but I don't think it's going to happen.

I am making two purses for end of the year gifts for teachers and a crayon roll-up for a birthday party Sunday. It had better be easy, lol!

I hope everyone has a great Friday!

I'm glad to hear he is doing better. My husband and I have a black lab, Malie (and a yorkie). About two years ago on a Sunday afternoon Malie started throwing up and then seized up, with her eyes bugged out and legs straight out. It was pretty scary. So we went to the emergency vet (Sunday afternoon) and after numerous tests, an overnight stay, and $800 the vet told us she just threw up so hard that she seized up!!! :confused3 I mean it was great that she wasn't sick, but man that was a lot of money for a big throw up.:lmao: She is perfectly fine now and has never had another seizure. Hopefully everything will be okay with Oscar  . I understand how you feel - they are our little babies, just like our kids will be (in 7 weeks!!)

Jess

Thank you for letting us know about the pre-TR. I will definitely be following along with her story. Sewing for other people is such a personal thing for me - which is why I haven't made anything for strangers yet (also because I am not so secure in my sewing abilities). I will appreciate knowing a bit more about Alicia, Isabella and her husband as I sew for Isabella.
You're welcome. I am glad you will be getting to know them a bit more. Alicia has already posted a number of pictures on that pre-tr too! I am sure whatever you make will be perfect and Isabelle will love it. She really is a little doll.

SEWING MACHINE QUESTION!!!

I asked a sewing machine question a few pages back but am now asking something a little different.

I have family looking to buy me a new sewing machine for my b'day and I am trying to decide between the Brother Disney SE270D embroidery machine or the Brother SE350 embroidery machine. Seems that my SIL found out that Wal-Mart is discontinuing the Disney machine and the other one is replacing it. The SE350 is $25.00 more.

Which would you buy?

I don't have either machine, but looking at the specs, I would go with the SE350 if you don't plan on buying any of the Brother Disney cartridges. I have a non-disney edition of another brother/embroidery machine and when I bought it, I could have spent $200 more and got the disney version of it but I decided that we should save the $$, and now I wish that I had spent the couple hundred dollars.

It looks great on her!!

I'm probably not very trusting, but I would probably wait until I got back to let them get started. It would be so tempting to come home and have it completely finished though!

Enchanted Princess - DEFINATELY DO NOT leave your house key and leave the builders to themselves. You need to supervise everything they do and plus questions will come up etc. I know it is tempting to think how nice it would be to have it all done. Also take the timeframe and expand it out some. Just my thoughts and opinions here. We havent had good "builder" experiences.:rolleyes1

On a lighter note....I absolutely love and adore your outfits you have planned. Seriously cute stuff there! ::yes:: :thumbsup2  Have a wonderful trip! :yay:

Thanks to everyone who responded to my off topic questions..sorry I lost some quotes...but we have decided that we will wait until we come back. Just don't want to take the risk..besides, I think I would spend my whole week in Disney worrying about our house.

Aunt Update!

She is HOME!!!!!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I just talked to my Uncle and he told me she is sleeping on the couch right now:thumbsup2

That's great news. Glad to hear that she is doing well!

When you add a ruffle to say a shirt bottom how big to you make it? Twice the size of what you're adding the ruffle to or more?

I usually make mind at least twice the length of the bottom of the shirt/skirt.

SO, I had a sudden trip to Dallas come up! I'm going tomorrow to meet with a bride and mom of a wedding I'm coordinating. SO, before I meet with them, I GET TO GO TO JOANN'S! WOO HOO! That's reason to celebrate!:cool1: :cool1:
