Okay, here is Lily's pre-shirred, pre-hemmed Minnie dress from Joanns. I did not adjust the length at all, just sewed it up and added ribbons. She inisited on wearing it even though it is FREEZING outside right now. Good thing we're not going anywhere! And please NO CASING this!!!!! ALL of my creative powers went into this one! (just to be sure, you know I'm all kidding, right?) And hey, it matches the purple purse she must carry everywhere!

I just finished sewing ribbons on this one last night as well and if I could find my blasted camera I'd take pictures. Yesterday I did a gymbo made to match twirl skirt, a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse top and skirt, fixed a pair of pants I got on that were too big in the waist, I did something else but it's all been a blur. Only 2 1/2 more days to go. I have to get DH to get the suitcases that I asked for three days ago so I can get the packing done, I really don't want to be up all night the night before. The other night I did the pink princess pre-shirred with straps made out of the same fabric, turning those straps made me nuts so the Minnie ended up with ribbon straps which Delaney has declared "itchy."

I keep coming up with more projects to sew before I go and I'm not sure exactly how I'm going to do that, really there should be a 12 step program for this.

I think we're heading out to Build-a-Bear for a little while, as soon as DH gets in the door, Delaney got her little birthday certificate in the mail and she's ready to go spend it. We apparently need a birthday bear, not that the other 500 stuffed animals in this house want more competition, I was hoping she'd get a new princess dress for her bear but apparently it has switched gender again and is a boy again. I'm probably going to have to get the bear in therapy, he's probably very confused right now, he started as a boy, then was a girl and now is a boy again. Poor guy. Fickle preschooler.

I love everyone's BIG GIVE outfits and everyone else's outfits. I'm trying to keep Delaney from seeing the Fancy Nancy outfit, she loves Nancy. She also loves Eloise. I'm convinced that Delaney, Eloise and Nancy all have the same Diva complex.

I'll have to steal the small camera from DH tonight so I can get Delaney to model for me tomorrow or at least take pictures of what I've done already.

I finally got Violette into the pooh outfit....um yea...this is the best I could do, she just wants to run around..hehehe...hopefully that's clear enough I just pinned the shorts because I don't want to put an elastic in them til it's time to go to Disney. But I'm thinking I might add another ruffle to the bottom instead and make it a dress. What do you think?

So CUTE!!! I love me some ruffles!!! adding a ruffle would be super cute too, but the outfit is adorable as is!

Now an off-topic questions....some of you might remember that at the end of April, my kiddos left the water running upstairs and flooded our house....we finally found a general contractor to do the work, and he is putting in the orders for the materials tomorrow. It will take approx 1 week for them to complete everything. Would you give them your house key so they can work on your house while you are away on vacation...that way, they will be working when no one is here and everything will be completed when we come home? I have just never considered this before until he told us that some people has done that... or of course, we can just wait until we come back and have them start before we go and hope that they finish before we leave.

My husband would FLIP OUT at the thought of contractors having keys while were gone on vacation...that being said, perhaps if you look into the contractors, ask for "home alone" references if they have them so you can talk to people who have used them and left the keys...get some sort of idea of how they work. If you can't get references I might not do it.

Tomorrow is DD's Last Day of School. She has been running a fever since Wednesday night. Right now it is 101.1 She also has a headache and a sore throat.

They are having a baby shower for DD's Teacher at 11:00.

So do I take DD to school for the day? What if she doesn't have a fever tomorrow morning. Usually I don't send her back for 24 hours after the fever.

But I know she will need to bring some stuff home from school too.

Should I just go in to the school and drop off the gift and pick up DD's stuff? I think that is the best choice. I really don't want to expose the pregnant teacher to DD's germs.

Has your child ever been sick on the last day of school?

Poor baby. That stinks! I wouldn't take her to school though. We had a teacher have to leave school nearly three weeks early b/c a child came to school with Fifth's disease and his teacher was two months pregnant. His mom said "He doesn't feel sick and I didn't want him to miss end of the year parties..." nevermind the fact that Fifth's Disease exposure is dangerous to pregnant women!

I think you are right on the money not wanting to expose the pregnant teacher to anything.

It's a bummer way to end the year certainly, but I know that everyone will appreciate not being exposed to fevers and such.

Enchanted Princess - DEFINATELY DO NOT leave your house key and leave the builders to themselves. You need to supervise everything they do and plus questions will come up etc. I know it is tempting to think how nice it would be to have it all done. Also take the timeframe and expand it out some. Just my thoughts and opinions here. We havent had good "builder" experiences.

On a lighter note....I absolutely love and adore your outfits you have planned. Seriously cute stuff there! Have a wonderful trip!


It took me a few hours to catch up....all three DD's recital is this weekend. I am up to my eyeballs trying to cope and keep track of everything. I will post pics soon though cause I am sure you all are dying to see the costumes!

I'm using a sheet for my applique for my BIG GIVE outfit. So I would say go ahead and use the pillow case. I already messed up on part of it and am now trying to redo it. The whole piece that I had needs to be thrown away, because there is no way it can be saved. It looks horrible.

I have good news too. I had posted about my FIL having to have a stress test last week. We found out today that it came back perfect and the pains are not from his heart. He now has a bad cold and it on meds for it so I am betting the pains have something to do with the cold/allergies.

Hi Everyone,

Question - does anyone know where I could get some Jurassic Park fabric? I always make tshirts for my friends kids for their birthday, this year I'd like to make matching shorts if I could - the one turning 8, would like Jurassic park!! I did get one of the disigners to make an iron on, but now am looking for fabric - didnt find anything special on = any ideas?

Also, when you are making Aline tops, you line the whole inside? if you do searsucker on the outside, do you have to use it on the inside too? or, is their any way to try to do it without lining it? Im getting ready to try for the girls birthday and havent gotten the courage to cut out my fabric yet!

Thanks for all the doll help = someone is helping me with the Bitty Baby look a like - and then Im going to target tomorrow to look for a blondie my generation doll for eliz - hope I can find one!!!

When I don't want it reversable I use a muslin to line it with. I would rather do the lining then try to finish all the seams.

LORI!!! I just had to post to tell you what Brian said! When he got home last night, I was looking at your Fancy Nancy outfit, but I really didn't think he noticed (it was just Ella in her outfit, he couldn't see the book). At the library today, Lydia picked out that Fancy Nancy book. When we got home, she had Brian read it to her. About halfway through the book he stops, looks at me and says,
"HEY! This little girl is wearing an outfit that looks EXACTLY like that one that was on the internet last night!" I told him that that is what you were trying to do, and he told me to tell you that he thought it looked PERFECT and then he said, "Wow!"

Okay, I don't know if anyone has replied to this, as I was like 75 pages behind, and could only "skim" but there are very easy pre-made ruffles you can buy. It's sold by the yard and comes in lots of colors. It looks great, and would probably give you an extra inch!

Thanks to TJ and anyone else who contributed the idea to ruffle/gather by adjusting the tension. I've been avoiding ruffles and considering a ruffler foot. I tried the tension method today and WOW! Just one question though...do I have to ruffle first, then sew it on or can I do both in 1 step?
Thanks all for the help with DD dress. I found a little more fabric today, but not enough for another outfit. I am considering a stripwork skirt with solid colors and a top to match or a shirred top with matching skirt. I don't think the bottom is big enough for just an elastic waist skirt the way it is cut.

I'd keep her home. You wouldn't want to risk getting a pregnant lady sick. I hope she gets fealing better real soon!

I have the Brother SE350. I love it. The only thing I don't like about it is that it won't take the Disney embroidary cards. It does have the option for you make your own cards, but that requires a separate program and an adapter for your computer. I think DH is going to get it for me for my Birthday or Christmas.

I think it is cute with the shorts.

I have one of the Disney ones. I haven't actually plugged it in yet though. I want one of those adapters for it though. Have you found any good deals on them?

I haven't seen Jurassic Park fabric, but they do have dinosaur fabric at Walmart. It isn't babyish at all, it looks like realistic dinosaurs.

I have a towel in my stack of stuff to make. I want to make a bathing suit cover up with it. I'm planning to cut it in an a-line shape with ribbon straps, and something embroidered on the center chest area. Other than that, I can't say I've seen anything made out of towels.

I've been thinking about trying one of those also. I'm taking my DD to Port Aransas mid-July for our annual family reunion and I thought it would be perfect for the trip.
