Disboutiquers Part 4ish Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes psst..we sew

You know, an idea that just occurred to me is to do something like they do in jeans for kids with the elastic and buttons. You could make a couple button holes in one end of the elastic and a buttonhole in the the casing so the end of the elastic goes through it to allow you to adjust the elastic as needed. With that method, you could get a lot more wear out of the dress... even until it becomes a top. :goodvibes

Love that shirt and your DD is so beautiful!

We had a super fun time at the museum today!!
Looks like such a fun day!

There was a little boy that was picking on Arminda at the beginning of the school year. He had to go to the counselor a time or two. The strange thing is that now, he and Arminda are really good friends. She is a very forgiving little sweet heart.

I'm working on a Marie outfit, from the material Glorib sent me (thank you!). I actually CUT it, and that was VERY hard to do! I am combining Carla's Simply Sweet top and the ruffled bottom from the peasant dress, I think it's going to be pretty cute. Lydia will like it even if it's not, she loves Marie! It should be done tomorrow, I hope...
What a sweet girl Arminda is! Can't wait to see the Marie outfit!

Attn: Simply Sweet eBook owners! I "modestified" the halter bodice a bit by raising the bottom of the armholes a wee bit (0.5" for the smaller sizes, 0.75" for the bigger sizes). The updated version is on YCMT now, and can be found on your "My Library" page! Thanks again for all the great feedback! :goodvibes

I'm still plugging away on the bowling shirt eBook! Problem is, I'd rather sew the shirts than write about sewing them! I've made about 10 so far - at least 1 in every size and an inordinate number of 3/4's! I'll try to get on later and post some pics!

Carla
Thanks so much!!!

Can't wait for your bowling shirt eBook!!!!

SO cute!!! I love the mix of fabrics on your DS's shorts!

After seeing all of the cute Easy Fit Pants from 2cutekids, I’m going to take the plunge and order the ebook! I have 2 weeks to make some shorts for DS2 before our SURPRISE Disney trip. I think I need a ticker.

You won't regret it! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that pattern. So easy and the results are so great! I also made the kids all PJ pants. For the shorts for my DD I did go down a size to make them a bit more fitting rather than a very loose style.
Here are the shorts that I made for my tomboy DD. I shorten the cuffs on these. I am really happy with the results.

Here's my halter from the simply sweet pattern. I think it's fine. If you raise the arm holes though it might be better. (I think that's what you said you were going to do.)

And Ds's matching set...

And what happens when I try to get a picture together!!

I LOVE those!

what a bunch of cute outfits i was once again at the dentist today so i am drugged and in alot of pain i had to have my left molar pulled and my gums prodded for the prep of implants, one more time for fillings and then my screws. I tried to post this outfit yesterday i finally finished Jayedyn's Kitty outfit she loves this pattern. and it is so easy to do .
DSCF1756_edited-1-1.jpg

I can't remember who asked about my boy's shirts ? But yes they are super easy to make i used Easy McCall's # 3193 i have made a few so i don't even need a pattern now :rotfl:
Anyways i am gonna hit the hay and take my next dose of pain meds..

Cute miss Jayedyn as usual! Feel better!

We put sock curlers in DD's hair last night. Her hair was so curly this morning that it was up above her shoulders, and I had to wet it to get it to relax a little. Her hair was actually in ringlets when she came home from school. It was pretty tangled though, so I had to comb it. We went to the library today and took some pictures. Her hair is naturally wavy (curly in the summer), but this is what it looks like after a day or two of school and play!!

And, after the sock curlers...

IMG_06781.jpg

That girl is so gorgeous! And I love the Olivia top!

Lori!!! I was just going to sneak in here tonight and skim through, but look what you went and posted!!! I HAD to comment!!! That is just too funny!!!!

Have I mentioned that Napoleon Dynamite is in my top two favorite movies (Titanic being the other)?? The first time I watched it, I had to pause it, because I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe! I made Lyddy a Vote For Pedro shirt when she was littler, Corey had one, so I made her one to match.

I always say, there are two kinds of people in this world, those that "get" Napoleon Dynamite, and the others.... :rolleyes1

Some people don't get Napoleon Dynamite? :confused3 :rotfl: That movie was filmed round these parts, so I probably get it too well :rotfl:

Thanks! Yep, I just pay attention, and start a new thread around 249. I'll have internet on vacation, so if we don't hit 249 before we go, I'll still be able to do it while I'm gone.
And, I must say, I am very pleased at the amount of people that love Napoleon Dynamite on this thread! :dance3: And, for the record, Heather loves it too! (she bought me the movie)

Does this mean we might (pretty please) get a photo or two live from THE WORLD???

"Modestified" I LOVE IT! :rotfl2:

I was avoiding the boards so I could get some stuff done for our trip yesterday, but I miss you all too much. I was having withdrawls!

I love the baseball outfits! Too cute! What pattern did you use for Matthew's shirt? LOVE it! The easy fit pants turned out great, too! I just love seeing pictures of Matthew, he looks like a little sweetie!

Oh, I wanted to tell Luke that Tessa is in a lot of my reviews on expotv, if he's needing a "Tessa fix". :rotfl2: She demonstrates her bike, her scooter, and our swingset in my most recent reviews.
Tessa's still feeling icky today, so I had to reschedule her kindergarten screening for next week. It's at a different school (the one I went to as a kid), so I won't get the personal tour of the school with the principal. :sad2: I was actually looking forward to that.

I'll have to check out Tessa's reviews--I think Luke first fell in love at her Giselle review :lovestruc :lmao: I hope our Tessa is feeling better soon!

OK, I'm done hogging the board now.

Great job again! I love that pattern you've used for Matthew's shirt!

Mainly, I have really only quilted and made costumes. I am fairly new to clothing but I am very excited! I know I can do it, it's just going to take time and patience. (And of course, trial and error!) So, may I ask you all a question taht may seem strange?

What exactly ia s serger and what can you do with it? TIA~

Hi! I did not see that anyone answered you so here it goes. A serger is the shortened name of the Overlock Serger machine. It is a separate machine which runs with 4 threads, 2 threads which wrap the seam and 2 which run through needles which "lock" the wrapping threads. The machine actually cuts the seam allowance off just before it wraps it. It is a WONDERFUL, Speedy way of finishing all the seams which are not lined and therefore exposed. The best type IMO is ones which have their knifes on the "bottom" rather than one on the bottom and the other coming up over the other on a separate arm. This machine also does easy rolled hems and if you are sewing knits it is a MUST! Nana

I finished Lily's goldfish skirt. I think I like buying a top and making a skirt to match. These are the bows I ordered on :wizard: I think they are GINORMOUS but they are cute. Do you think they are too much? I can wait until her head grows into them. :rotfl:

th_IMG_0116-2.jpg

This is just unbelievably cute!! Those colors are fabulous together. Love the bows too!!

Here is a pillocase dress I finished today. I should have been able to just "whip it up" but somehow life gets in the way.

th_Arielpillowcasedress.jpg

That fabric is perfect for a pillowcase dress. Very cute!

This was my very first applique effort. It's in red and white for St George's day!

th_Picture167.jpg

Dh's say the darndest things - LOL!! I think your applique looks great and your DD is so precious. :cutie:

I've been on a roll!! I made these 3 pairs of Easy Fit Pants (CarlaC from YCMT) this afternoon. I love this pattern - very easy and fast!! DS's summer wardrobe will be full of these!!

th_IMG_0643.jpg
th_IMG_0653.jpg
th_IMG_0679.jpg

Those are all great! I really like that legnth. I guess I'm going to have to break down and buy this pattern. I keep telling myself that I don't need another pants pattern since every top pattern I have comes with pants/shorts/capris too, but those always seem to be baggy in the tummy and crotch area. All the pictures of the Easy fit pants really do seem to fit nicely.

We had a super fun time at the museum today!! My grandma who the kids call nana went with us. I think we wore her out!! I love it! Now stop teasing us and get that pattern out! :rotfl: I love the idea of applique on the back! And I love Emily's. That girl has good taste in fabric. I can't wait to make some shirts for my boys for our October Disneyland trip! (which I am close to booking--just trying to convince DH that we really SHOULD stay at the Disneyland hotel, seeing as it's Luke's birthday and all! We are perfectly happy to stay off-site, but I do, in my lifetime, want to stay at ALL of the Disneyland hotels, seeing as there are only 3, and we do go every year)

Welcome, pumpkinpatchmommy!

Regarding what a serger does (Nana's explanation is perfect!), look at any exposed seams in purchased garments and you'll get a visual of what she explained. The raw edges of the fabric are enclosed by thread and less likely to ravel. :thumbsup2 Some machines can do more, but they tend to be more expensive and require a bit more practice. Lots of samples! *LOL*

Love the bowling shirts! The pink outfit is remeniscent of Grease!

Emily's shirt is terrific, as well. And she's a lovely model!

This thread has inspired me to make my girls' disney princess dresses for this year. (I sew dollclothes normally, and it takes me forever...so I better get started soon if I'm going to sew for them...that could take longer) We're going in December so I'd like to make the dresses out of cotton (Its usually around 60 in Florida then right?)
My next project will also be a Princess dress for my next doll...either Jasmine or Ariel....depending on which wig I get for her. Dillui
Now I do have a question...hopefully someone can answer it for me. My oldest wants to go as Aurora....there are two patterns available from Simplicity for her..What is more complicated about the second one (I'm wondering in particular about the darts in the bodice...me and diamond shaped darts do not get along)

HI EVERYONE!!!!
Whew! I have been away for WAY TOO LONG! Why does life have to get in the way of everything FUN? YEESH! Well, not really, but, sometimes that's how it feels!
I can't wait to try and get caught up, I just wanted to check in really quick and say HI! HI!
I'm sure jham has mentioned our boutique we're working our tushies off for next week....eeek! We've been talking about it for months and it's actually here and I'm SURE not ready! ACK!:scared1:
Anyway! I've seen some dang cute outfits and gotten some great inspiration (as usual) and I can't wait to see more!
And since we all love the Mouse, I wanted to post a few pics of Saylor in her Mouse outfit....

Can't wait to (try) catch up!!!

OH OH OH! One thing...I am a HUGE Napoleon Dynamite fan! Okay, not quite Titanic, but, let's hope I don't ever obsess over anything like that again! I've been watching Napoleon while I sew the past couple of weeks! I was  because even though I wasn't here with my posts, I was here in spirit!!!! GOSH!

Very worthwhile hogging, IMHO! Are your DDs pants appliqued or a border print?

The sancastle an the sand bucket/sand on the legs are all applique. I can try to get a better picture.

You have been really busy here lately! Everything looks FANTASTIC! What pattern did you use for Emily's top? I really like how it looks!

The bodice of Emily's top is the bodice lining from McCall's 5615. I didn't use a pattern for the skirt. I measured the width of the bodice and cut 2 skirt pieces in an aline. I added the ribbon trim at the end.

That first picture had me LOL here at my desk at work! :lmao: He is such a cutie pie!

I love all your new stuff and that design for the sleeveless hoodie with all the prints is so darn cool! :thumbsup2:

Thanks! Glad he made you laugh. I giggle when I see it too. His hoodie is actually from a sweatshirt pattern. (McCall 4644) I just left off the sleeves (and sized it down!!).

So cute!!! I love the different fabrics in ds outfit. The library pics were cute too- I don't think I commented on those before.

Louiesmama- Those are so cute!! I have to admit I haven't bought any ycmt patterns yet- I am afraid I will want them all- you can't just have one- You know like the chip commercial. All the outfits look so cute- I just may have to "give in" :rolleyes1

Sugarbees & jham Good luck at the boutique sale!!
Saylor looks so adorable!!

I am finally getting around to posting the photos for the question I raised yesterday regarding the right size for the Simply Sweet pattern:

First, is the halter bodice. I made a size 6. The elastic in the back was too long, so I shortened it.

DSC_0147.jpg

DSC_0148.jpg

I'm wondering if a size 5 with the wider bodice would be better.

Here is the jumper bodice in a size 6. This one ended up being too big all over, so I definitely think I need to make a size 5 in this one.

DSC_0155.jpg

DSC_0160.jpg

My daughter is thin, so I added ties at the waist, but it is still way too big.

Thanks everyone for posting your photos of this pattern. It helps me get a better idea of how it should fit.

I just came across this picture- It is my favorite crying picture. If I remember right he had the whole arm flapping thing going too. I think I was trying not to laugh, I am so mean.
