WOW! Super cute! You did a great job.

Keep in mind that I'm the daughter who disappointed her mother by disliking ruffles at an early age. What do I know? :confused3
 My tomboy's first multiword sentence was "NO pink pants!!!". But she's just like me so I can only blame myself.:rotfl:

Heidi, i just bought the Viking 4D program for my Designer SE. I want to look at it in depth this weekend. My dealer said that there's a way to change clip art into applique. I'm hoping it can do somersaults and back flips too because it costs a fortune!!!:rotfl:
I have the Brother 750D. It does beautiful embroidery but it only does embroidery-no sewing. While at the dealership last weekend, the manager showed me a new Disney embroidery card that has 5 x 7 designs!!!! It's called Big Magic. Of course, I had to buy it:lovestruc .This is so great because the others just stitched to 4 x 4. He said that Brother is developing more of the 5 x 7 design cards.

I am so jealous. I would love one. In the class, with the 4D, they could open up any image saved on their computer, photo/clipart/etc, and then plan their stitches out on top of that, it worked out very well. They did say their was a way to have the program do it automatically, but didn't show us that option.

I'm a big time lurker here, I LOVE all the cute things you guys make. I'm not really a sewer but I'd like to try it sometime. Anyways, I'd like to try to make something for our disney trip. My DD's will be 4 and 18 months when we go. I saw on etsy a really cute Cinderella Tuto dress (the tulle is tied around non roll elastic and the bust is made of flowers). It's so cute and it doesn't look that hard. Does anyone know how to make the flower top? I've made the tie twirl skirts before, but I have no idea on the top. Any suggestions?

Also does anyone have any ideas on any other easy projects I could try for disney. My oldest DD is obsessed with princesses.

thanks for your help.

The 4D is pretty easy to use. That's what I have. I used to TEACH 3D classes for Viking, so I am still learning the 4D, as I resisted the change...I actually changed for the auto digitizing. The applique making is very easy.

BTW: there is a way to read the brother disney cards to your computer with the 4D system....I don't know it, but I used to do it a few years ago with the 3D system....I need to go look it up after I get home...and buy a new card reader, as my son stepped on my old one. :rolleyes1

I have been lurking for months now and you guys have got me sewing again. I use to sew for myself years ago and stopped sewing when I had children - had the late in life. They are now 9 and 7 and wish I had seen these gorgeous clothes back when my daughter ws young - she would have looked adorable. I think I have talked her into some capris with ruffles- which leads me to why I was going to post - I bought a ruffler today - after seeing ideas and such posted here and looked at it a couple of times at Joanns - honestly did not even know they made such a thing. So I bought one today and went to YCMT and down loaded the ruffler guide and was so proud of myself when I made a ruffle - almost brought tears to my eyes. Am having surgery tomorrow - Breast cancer - but I know you all will be a part of my recovery. When I am able to - I will post more - feel like dropped a bomb and all I wanted to do was to share my excitement of the ruffler.

Welcome! I doubt I could help you, but I'm sure someone could. It's hard to say without seeing the outfit. Your DDs are fun ages to dress up! There are plenty of easy patterns to start with.

Welcome! Good luck with your surgery! Hopefully sewing and ruffling and the disboards will help you have a great recovery!

Suggestion needed!!!

I have made a patchwork twirl skirt and I am going to applique the crab on the shirt.

Here is the material:
crab1.jpg

I have the crab applique ready to go on a white shirt but I can't decide if I want to put the crab sitting straight up or turn it a little bit at an angle. It would still be in the middle of the shirt just off kilter some.

What do you think?
a) crab sitting straight up
or
b) crab angled a bit

- Miss Cammie I lost the quote but I had to write ya back even though I am illegally on the computer in the morning (I've been banned from Dissing in the morning during school week  ) I loved the pics of Sally sewing...made me cry too! First let me know when you are coming down and second....Happy Birthday Sally Rally :bday: party: :dancer: :jumping1: :rainbow: ...my Sarah's birthday was Monday too...she turned 10!  And she wore her outfit to school today...

IMGP5262.jpg

Oh wow, our munchkins share a birthday!!! I love the dress you made for your daughter! She looks so lovely in it!!!

I got the Royal Princess Petticoat!!
After reading your posts, you know I had to go online and order it, but in the middle of the order I called our local mall, and they said they just got them in, and there were only 5 left. They were 24.50 each, and I got one for each girl. I wish I had more money I would have bought all they had.
They are full, but not Pettiskirt full. They have a satin-y layer on the inside, like a built in slip, so the girls can wear them as a skirt. Alexis says it's not scratchy, and of course she had to get pink shoes to go with it.

After taking the second picture, it actually makes my driveway look good.

Dang it all...I was saying "NO NO NO I am NOT going to order that darling skirt! I'm NOT..." Then you had to go and post pictures!:headache: ;) It's SO cute and it looks like it's pretty light. It's not as poofy as a Sam's pettiskirt but I bet it would be a LOT cooler to wear in the August heat!

darling darling children you have!!!

 hugs to you for your surgery. I hope that everything turns out good and that you have a speedy recovery. Also Welcome.

Elisa, what size did you get? I couldn't decide and got a medium. I hope it doesn't fall right off of her.

Hey, shameless plug: I updated my trip report!

I got a small and a medium. The small was a 5/6 and the medium was a 7/8. Alexis is a solid 6 in the waist, and the small fit okay, a teensy weensy bit snug, but okay. I haven't tried the 7/8 on Ireland. If it's too big, I'll just take in the elastic or pin it.

I did a search on etsy with those words. If I were going to make an outfit like that, I would put the elastic at the top (at the bust), do the tie method with lots and lots of tulle. The flowers appear to simply be silk flowers that coordinate with the tulle. I would glue them on with e6000. Good luck!

Glad you came out of lurkdom, and glad you figure out the ruffler. It's great, isn't it!

Send lots of good thoughts your way. Hope all goes well tomorrow!

I vote angled a bit!

I LOVE that fabric. If you dont mind me asking where did you find it ?
I vote for standing up in middle for the shirt.

I been following this thread since the begining with envy, as a mother of two preteen boys I really had no reason to do any sewing...(I used to sew years back...I even made my wedding gown)...well getting ready for our trip to disney I decided to make my own handbag, this is my first time sewing one and without a pattern it was a little tricky for the measurements, I did use a DisIng (cannot recall who's) for the front... not to bad to be the first one

I have also used the on Headbands
th_set50-1.jpg

they are so cute! I was thinking as I was reading it "I wonder what she uses them for." love them! Thanks for posting the instructions.

My Aunt Eve made my Mom a very unique, yet very Disboutique countdown calendar. She got a ton of Disney clip art, turned them into iron ons and made count down panties (y'know, like the days of the week ones you can buy). So, My mom has a set of underwear for the 30 days up until a trip - she sits on a different character each day!

:rotfl: I love it! I also liked your idea with the castle and the dry erase board... very cute!

it's ADORABLE I love your attention to detail.

First of all, good luck on your surgery tomorrow. I will definately have you in my prayers. What time is your surgery? I think that there is something very powerful about praying the very moment something is happening.

Next, I really hope that we can be part of your recovery and maybe a little sewing will be just what you need to help with your healing!
