How pretty!!! The petti looks great, too!

I just ordered Tessa a white one so she could wear it under anything. Now I'm wishing I would have ordered her a funky colored one, too. I wish it was a little bigger because I have the overwhelming desire to put it on myself!

WOW!!!! That looks so cool!
Hey ladies! (and gentleman)
I'm a long time lurker and I first want to say that I am in awe by the stuff you all do! I'm not a sewer but I want to learn and have decided to make a "quilt" this summer. If any of you have any easy ideas I'm all ears.
Just wanted to stop by to tell you all about my day today. I'm a college student in a museum studies program and am currently on a 5 week work placement. Today I was working with the curator at the office I'm in. I think she's maybe a curator for a heritage park somewhere in Ontario. Anyway, what she does is research and I guess design and maybe sew historic clothing. It's all depicting Canada in the 1830's and 1840's. I'm telling you all, you would have been in ruffle, shirring and boning heaven! The dresses were just gorgeous and so intricate. There were some amazing pettiskirts around, too. She also gave me a "tour" of the fabric shelves. There must have been over 400 bolts all arranged by colour.
Anywhoo...just wanted to share. I thought of you ladies today.
Carry on...

!! I would have LOVED to see all of that fabric and the pettis and such! Yes, you need to learn to sew! We want to see what you come up with!!
DD is almost 4, she's always been um... high maintenance

I don't have a lot of parenting advice for you. I know I get really irritated when people offer it to me, so I won't do that! I just wanted you to know that many 4 year olds go through this kind of stuff. Tessa and Lydia still have the occasional total meltdown and they're 5! Yes, it gets very frustrating, especially when you know they know better! I want you to know that it's nothing you're doing wrong, it's just a kid thing.
hmmmmmm I need some encouragement.
I'm washing my fabric ready to sew but I'm so scared - what if I make a mistake - I'm worried about sizing since our trip isn't till next year. I don't want to break my fabric that the lovely Wendy has sent to me (woohoo I have disney fabs too) It's much nicer just looking at it. I've got another package of fabric coming (thanks Teresa and Wendy) so really should make room for it - it's going to be like christmas.
I'm thinking I might just make some at home trial runs on non disney fabs but even that is scary. I love my fabric and it looks nice just being folded into it's box.

I just like pulling it out and feeling it.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm here I am rambling and procrastinating
eta and what if I find another pattern that I like better than what I used.
I think I just need to stop overthinking it and just do it.

( <--- I love that smiley)
You sound eerily like my sister. She likes to caress her fabric, too.

But, you must just GO FOR IT!!! You will make something fabulous with it and that will be much more beautiful than a pile of fabric sitting there folded all pretty!
HI everyone!
Well good news... I got myself a new car. Well not new, but new to us. Man the price and cars have changed sooo much in the last two weeks, I am just glad I finally got one. My brother picked it up last night and brought it to me tonight. I will have to take a picture tomorrow.
It is a '96 Ford Explorer V8 Limited Ed. Its nearly fully load. But it only has a tape player in it. hehehe So I will in time get a cd player. I mean how else am I going to listen to our Disneyland Park Music in the car?! Its white and really clean for how old it is. It will last us a few years so that is good. Its fully paid so we don't have to worry about payments.
I haven't had any time to sew, heck I haven't had any time to sit and catch up! Next weekend I have saturday off, so hopefully I will have some time to sew then. Georgia will be with her dad, so it will be me and the dog and the humming of machine. hehe
I'm so glad you got a car! Here I am thinking my 2000 Tahoe and my husband's '99 Silverado are "newish" cars. Then, you refer to a '96 as old. It got me thinking that my cars are getting up there, too!

Just remember it's better to have an "old" car than a "new" car payment!!

Still sending prayers your way.
O2bacelt-Sorry about dd- My son just turned 4 in Jan. He has been doing some interesting things lately also

He has been getting up real early and getting into things! Just this morning (before I heard him up) he got a scissor and cut some things- like my camera & camera bag straps

He knows he's not allowed to play with scissors and has his own kid scissor that is kept put away for when he is supervised, but he has such a sharp eye nothing gets by him- he will stack things to get up high if he wants to get at something. He has been very sneaky and knows he is doing things he is not supposed to do. We have done timeouts and also toys get timeouts too if they are involved in the naughtiness. Here's hoping they grow out of this REALLY SOON!!!
We have to go to a funeral tomorrow, a cousin on my dhs side. He was 54 and had a massive heart attack.

It is very sad- his first dd is getting married in 3 weeks. They have a farm and the kids especially ds love to go visit and play with the animals. It will be a sad day!

about the scissors! Tessa had a scissor incident when we first moved into this house when she was 3. I was stupid enough to put the scissors within her reach and she cut her hair with them. I was just glad she didn't cut herself! That's always scary!
I'm sorry to hear bout DH's cousin. He was so young!
Barbara update:I took Barbara to the oncologist for a 2nd opinion this week. He was of the same opinion as the surgeon that she should have a full mastectomy. They are going to also take out one of her lymph nodes to test it for cancerous cells. If that one is clear, they will assume the others are, too. They aren't sure if it's just a ductal carcinoma, or if it is a more invasive cancer mixed in with a ductal carcinoma. It's a very large tumor (5cm), so they werne't able to test the whole thing with the needle biopsy. We are praying that it's just the ductal carcinoma and they will be able to remove it with no further problems. They are going to schedule the surgery for AFTER our Disney trip! So, that was great news! Barbara is still upbeat about everything. She has the attitude of "what happens, happens". She knows there's nothing she can do about it, so she just goes with the flow. Thanks again for all your prayers!!
