I wasn't going to bring up spanking, because I know how much debate that can bring, but I too have an overdramatic 4yo as well. We are a household that spanks and I have to say it works for us. I will say there are rules for spanking i.e. NEVER spank your child if you feel out of control yourself, we only spank on the bottom, no where else, and anytime she gets a spanking it is in private and there is always a talk beforehand as to why she is getting it. I will say that I rarely have to give her spankings now, just the threat of one usually stops the behavior. I don't think spanking works for every child, because each child is different. You are the only one who knows your child, so you have to make that decision. It has definitely worked for us, as we get told all of the time how well behaved and polite our child is!;)

hmmmmmm I need some encouragement.

I'm washing my fabric ready to sew but I'm so scared - what if I make a mistake - I'm worried about sizing since our trip isn't till next year. I don't want to break my fabric that the lovely Wendy has sent to me (woohoo I have disney fabs too) It's much nicer just looking at it. I've got another package of fabric coming (thanks Teresa and Wendy) so really should make room for it - it's going to be like christmas.

I think I just need to stop overthinking it and just do it. :scared: ( <--- I love that smiley)

I would say start sewing 6 months before the actual trip. I think you should make some fab everyday outfits now! But definetly make the actual trip outfits 6m before. you should have a better idea of what size is need. but this is just my opinion

I am new to this forum, I usually can be found on the cruiseline chatboard, but as I was dis-surfing I found some great pictures. I was wondering if anyone can direct me as to where I can purchase some of the "gems" the I have seen on this site. You can pm me if its not allowed to post. I am really interested in the pirate corset for girls and the Disney Wonder pillowcase that I saw...I don't sew and I would love to purchase!pirate:

If you could, I would happily pay you for it plus shipping. I would love 2 yards, if they have it. THANK YOU!

I will take a peak. Is there one specific you are wanting? I have seen a couple different prints in the photobucket account. I'm not sure where you are but I am on the west coast so you may not hear from me until later tomorrow - but I promise I will get there.

HI everyone!

Well good news... I got myself a new car. Well not new, but new to us. Man the price and cars have changed sooo much in the last two weeks, I am just glad I finally got one. My brother picked it up last night and brought it to me tonight. I will have to take a picture tomorrow.

It is a '96 Ford Explorer V8 Limited Ed. Its nearly fully load. But it only has a tape player in it. hehehe So I will in time get a cd player. I mean how else am I going to listen to our Disneyland Park Music in the car?! Its white and really clean for how old it is. It will last us a few years so that is good. Its fully paid so we don't have to worry about payments.

I haven't had any time to sew, heck I haven't had any time to sit and catch up! Next weekend I have saturday off, so hopefully I will have some time to sew then. Georgia will be with her dad, so it will be me and the dog and the humming of machine. hehe

Glad to see you got a car. how are you doing?

oooooh my name :) hehe since you asked.........

How I do mine is I sew a length of ribbon to each end of the elastic (enough for waist measurement) - I use non roll medium width elastic - then I cut the tulle into strips depending on the length I want it - measure waist to whereever you want it to fall - double then add 2 inches.

I've made lots now so I just gather and sew but if you want to just loop the tulle around the elastic in the colour pattern you like making it quite full then I do a 3 stage zig zag while slightly stretching the elastic.

I find this makes a nice flat waistband and there are no knots to come undone.

and just cos I love this pic :)

Oh yay that was your cutie!!! Thank you so much- I was thinking the whole thing was ribbon- so glad I asked before I did something silly :rotfl2: :rolleyes1 :headache:

Thank You clutterbug :flower3: I don't know why I didn't think to look there before:scratchin

SO many great things today!! Love all the cakes and the outfits!!

O2bacelt-Sorry about dd- My son just turned 4 in Jan. He has been doing some interesting things lately also :headache: :sad2: He has been getting up real early and getting into things! Just this morning (before I heard him up) he got a scissor and cut some things- like my camera & camera bag straps  He knows he's not allowed to play with scissors and has his own kid scissor that is kept put away for when he is supervised, but he has such a sharp eye nothing gets by him- he will stack things to get up high if he wants to get at something. He has been very sneaky and knows he is doing things he is not supposed to do. We have done timeouts and also toys get timeouts too if they are involved in the naughtiness. Here's hoping they grow out of this REALLY SOON!!! :hourglass

We have to go to a funeral tomorrow, a cousin on my dhs side. He was 54 and had a massive heart attack. :sad2: :sad1: It is very sad- his first dd is getting married in 3 weeks. They have a farm and the kids especially ds love to go visit and play with the animals. It will be a sad day!

Thanks Teresa - I'm going to make a hooded dress/jersey type thing this weekend. Wish me luck. I might even attempt pants. I haven't done pants yet (oh and I still have those pj's to do) it's autumn here now so starting to cool down (some days) so have to start planning warmer stuff. I've got Em's thick winter jersey on the knitting needles atm :)

Oh and my sister is moving out this weekend :( but now the girls are so used to sharing a room that I don't have the heart to seperate them so I might just have to claim the bedroom as a sewing room :rolleyes1

I would say start sewing 6 months before the actual trip. I think you should make some fab everyday outfits now! But definetly make the actual trip outfits 6m before. you should have a better idea of what size is need. but this is just my opinion

Good idea - I'll practice on some other stuff then can see what style I like. I'm so slow that in 6 mths I might get 1 outfit completed :rotfl:

I'm thinking I might just make some at home trial runs on non disney fabs but even that is scary. I love my fabric and it looks nice just being folded into it's box. :rolleyes1 I just like pulling it out and feeling it. :confused3

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm here I am rambling and procrastinating

eta and what if I find another pattern that I like better than what I used.

I think I just need to stop overthinking it and just do it. :scared: ( <--- I love that smiley)

I found a pair of cute sheets to practice on. When I do a new pattern for the first time I am always nervous. Do you have some old sheets, or a thrift store that you can buy a cheap pair?

I have to share a pic of our bestest bud... "Colby" Is our first born. He turned 14 Last week.
avatarcoplby.jpg
Best dog a person could ask for. He is so much a part of the family. He goes everywhere with us except airplane vacations. At that time his big treat is staying with Grammy... She spoils him rotten.
.
What a cute dog! I have a special place in my heart for old dogs. :lovestruc

We got DD's school pictures back. I'm glad we went with the lemons! Not too bad for school pictures...

th_DecryptImage1.jpg
This is a great picture! I love the yellow with the background. I'm glad you took "my" advice! :thumbsup2

I love the guitar shirts and the skirts! How cute! It's so sweet that Jayden still likes to wear girly stuff. Yes, enjoy it while it lasts. I think he hair looks just fine!

What a bunch of cute kids!! I like the embellished Mickey outfit and the LE jeans! What kind of iron-ons are those?

How could you forget to post these adorable pictures!? Emma looks beautiful and so does her outfit!!

There's that adorable girl! I love your lemon outfit, too!

That is so pretty! Tessa always surprises me with her cake requests. This year it was Spongebob, last year it was "My Little Pony and a Care Bear walking over a rainbow".:rotfl:

I'm sorry to hear about your husbands cousin. That is so sad.

It is sort of starting to try and warm up around here. It snowed on Tuesday, but yesterday we could run from the car to the stores with just a jacket. So, I have some hope that spring might just actually show up eventually!

Good luck on the dress! You can do it!

That sounds like a good vehicle. I'm happy to hear that you finally have your own.

Awesome job! Geez... I wish they had that kit when I had an influx of orders for castle cakes last summer. I used pringles cans and ice cream cones. What a pain!
th_cake112.jpg
th_cake089.jpg

Beautiful cakes!

I'll have to find the one I did. It's not as good as yours, but it my my girl happy & that's what matters.

How pretty!!! The petti looks great, too! :thumbsup2 I just ordered Tessa a white one so she could wear it under anything. Now I'm wishing I would have ordered her a funky colored one, too. I wish it was a little bigger because I have the overwhelming desire to put it on myself! :rotfl:

:scared1: WOW!!!! That looks so cool!

Hey ladies! (and gentleman)

I'm a long time lurker and I first want to say that I am in awe by the stuff you all do! I'm not a sewer but I want to learn and have decided to make a "quilt" this summer. If any of you have any easy ideas I'm all ears.

Just wanted to stop by to tell you all about my day today. I'm a college student in a museum studies program and am currently on a 5 week work placement. Today I was working with the curator at the office I'm in. I think she's maybe a curator for a heritage park somewhere in Ontario. Anyway, what she does is research and I guess design and maybe sew historic clothing. It's all depicting Canada in the 1830's and 1840's. I'm telling you all, you would have been in ruffle, shirring and boning heaven! The dresses were just gorgeous and so intricate. There were some amazing pettiskirts around, too. She also gave me a "tour" of the fabric shelves. There must have been over 400 bolts all arranged by colour.

Anywhoo...just wanted to share. I thought of you ladies today.

Carry on...
:welcome:!! I would have LOVED to see all of that fabric and the pettis and such! Yes, you need to learn to sew! We want to see what you come up with!!

DD is almost 4, she's always been um... high maintenance
 I don't have a lot of parenting advice for you. I know I get really irritated when people offer it to me, so I won't do that! I just wanted you to know that many 4 year olds go through this kind of stuff. Tessa and Lydia still have the occasional total meltdown and they're 5! Yes, it gets very frustrating, especially when you know they know better! I want you to know that it's nothing you're doing wrong, it's just a kid thing.

hmmmmmm I need some encouragement.

You sound eerily like my sister. She likes to caress her fabric, too. :confused3 But, you must just GO FOR IT!!! You will make something fabulous with it and that will be much more beautiful than a pile of fabric sitting there folded all pretty!

I'm so glad you got a car! Here I am thinking my 2000 Tahoe and my husband's '99 Silverado are "newish" cars. Then, you refer to a '96 as old. It got me thinking that my cars are getting up there, too!:rotfl: Just remember it's better to have an "old" car than a "new" car payment!! Still sending prayers your way.

:scared1: about the scissors! Tessa had a scissor incident when we first moved into this house when she was 3. I was stupid enough to put the scissors within her reach and she cut her hair with them. I was just glad she didn't cut herself! That's always scary!

I'm sorry to hear bout DH's cousin. He was so young!

Barbara update:I took Barbara to the oncologist for a 2nd opinion this week. He was of the same opinion as the surgeon that she should have a full mastectomy. They are going to also take out one of her lymph nodes to test it for cancerous cells. If that one is clear, they will assume the others are, too. They aren't sure if it's just a ductal carcinoma, or if it is a more invasive cancer mixed in with a ductal carcinoma. It's a very large tumor (5cm), so they werne't able to test the whole thing with the needle biopsy. We are praying that it's just the ductal carcinoma and they will be able to remove it with no further problems. They are going to schedule the surgery for AFTER our Disney trip! So, that was great news! Barbara is still upbeat about everything. She has the attitude of "what happens, happens". She knows there's nothing she can do about it, so she just goes with the flow. Thanks again for all your prayers!!

haha Its not too old, but older then what I was used to. The Trailblazer was an '06 It was only six months old when we got it. but such is life, you are totally right, no new car payment!! And my insurance went down too. so that is a good thing.

It good to hear that Barbara has a good spirit about things, its hard to do, sounds like she is a good soul. It will be nice to all go to Disney. I bet that will a one of the best trips you remember. Sending my prayers your way.

Yay! I'm first of the Utah Bunko Girls to post (they're still sleeping, I'm sure).

We played at SugarBees "House" (It's a mini-mansion). My house is 3800 sq. feet and her's is at least twice as big! But it's just beautiful and WELL decorated...since we have a ton of the same stuff and the same taste

So the Bunko Girls were me, Spongie, Jham(mmie), and Sugarbees.(plus 4 others) No pictures, sorry!

I WON a prize!!! :cool1: A Love me KNot bag in black and white! LOOOVE it! Course I won for the lowest score :rolleyes1 I guess it's not like golf where low is good. :confused3

Sugarbees and Jahm are 2 of the nicest and funniest ladies I know, y'all
I never would have discovered them if it weren't for this thread (4 ago  )

Luke is sitting on my lap right now. When I told him Tessa had a spongebob birthday cake he requested that I get a picture of it "right here" and pointed to my disboards window :rotfl: He really wants to see Tessa's spongebob cake! That boy loves spongebob.

So yesterday it was the scissor-Todays target- THE SUGAR!!!! Yep it was all over the kitchen floor and my 4yo. and if I wasn't laughing (now).... while standing in time out he says moooooom my hands are very sticky- duh!! Good thing it was getting low! GRRRR :headache: :sad2:  Then he woke up his sister and hour early!!! She gets so cranky when she is up early! Vent over- thank you!!

Glad I could help - I have done one with lots of ribbon but I don't think I have a picture. You would still need to use tulle as I don't think it would have enough structure otherwise. So you would do the same thing with the tulle and maybe not do it so full and then over top of the tulle as your are looping it - do loops of ribbon - different widths would be fun :) Not sure if that makes sense - It's late here I should be in bed

:lmao: :rotfl2: I thought the whole elastic part was ribbon... Although adding some ribbon on the flowy part would be pretty.

:woohoo: for the newish car- kelly!!!

YAY for Barbara So glad she gets to go on the trip! I hope she stays well and has the time of her life on the trip!! :grouphug:

And it is supposed to be 50+ the next 3 days!!!! Dare I say spring has sprung :dance3:

Well, I am off to get my machine. My mom offered to do some maintance on it...oil it, clean it up get it working like new. (It's 16 years old) She said she wants to buy it from me if I ever get a new one. Loves the way it works.. I am surprised since she has a Pfaff.

I bought some sheets on clearance at the Disney store. I will post later. I am going to use it for dresses and a shirt (I think) I work at the Disney Store and I need to stop buying sfuff. But the full sheet set cost my $11! That is a lot of fabric!

I hope to start sewing this afternoon. Did yard work already and want to go to hancooks to LOOK only!

Awww, thanks! :grouphug: I wish I were still sleeping :sad2: I drank too much diet cherry pepsi and couldn't get to sleep last night. Her house is perty, isn't it? Bunko was fun! And I spent too much at Hobby Lobby--hey, I never get out there! Everyone won a purse but me :sad1: :rotfl:
