I think I'm going to attempt a peasant top or dress. I've never done sleeves bofore. I'll use the YCMT pattern. Any suggestions/recommendations before I begin? Fabric choices? Can you tell I'm a bit nervous?

that pattern is the EASIEST pattern I have ever done. . . once you have the pieces cut out it takes no time to put together. . . the instructions are very clear. Once you make one it will be a breeze. I promise, I have only been sewing for about a month. . .

I guess I should post more photos of Ireland actually looking decent. She usually wears her hair curly to school, but when we're home on the weekend, I don't fuss with it. She gets the standard ponytail.
Here is another outfit that I finished lately. The front part, on the bodice, instead of doing a ruffle, I tried to copy Aurora's white part on her dress. I'm not sure if I like it or not..I love the jeans though, I made button holes in the denim and laced ribbon through.. I will definately be doing this again.

sorry to edit...but I wanted to add, that I made the little roses on the dress, and they go all the way around the dress.

metal bats by Easton aren't very heavy...and they make pink ones...

That dress is GORGEOUS. Jeans are SUPER cute. My step daughter would go crazy for them!

It's disturbing me how GREEN with envy I am over that child's hair. Do you put it in rollers or does it just do that naturally...I'll bet it's natural.

I have natural curl too...but I just look like the wild child of Borneo...

*sigh*

;)

No curlers...no her hair isn't naturally curly either, it's sort of wavy but straight in spots..very weird hair...When her hair is damp, I use socks like hair curlers and roll the hair around the width of the sock and then tie the ends together and it holds it in, then in the morning I take them out, and wa-lah..instant curls without damaging her hair. She used to do pageants, and I had to roll it all the time. ICK..it fried her hair...I will see if I can find some funny pageant pictures..

I have the Rose doll. She is on my computer desk. How sad about your dress getting lost!
QUOTE]

Which Rose doll do you have? I have one too! It's the black and red dress she wears when she almost jumps....I also have a Captain Smith doll---I got it at Target during all the Titanic Craze..wish I would've gotten the rest of the crew! DANG!
My Rose is still in the box, but prominently displayed with the rest of my Titanic memorabilia...sooo proud!:woohoo:

SOOO sad about my dress! I made the blue and pink one she wears for the end of the movie...it was purty, I must say! Seli was 4 at the time and I made her a little red & black one...SO cute! I won some award for a Halloween costume contest, had the wig and everything! good times!

I think we have the same doll! Mine is like a Barbie doll, and she is wearing that dress. I took her out of the box though, because I like to play with dolls!
Do you have some pictures of you and Seli in your dresses? You guys must have looked so cute!

This is dd1's current favorite doll.

It's a Dollar Tree baby that her big sister got her for Christmas. She carries it around everywhere. For Easter I got her some clothes for it & the aunt got her another doll just like it so now we have baby twins.

Both my girls have baby dolls that can wear their newborn clothes. DD4's is an 18in. Corolle & dd1's is a 20in Berenguer. DD4 plays with hers quite a bit now, but the Berenguer is still a bit too big for my baby to carry around.

I found a pic of the 2 bigger dolls. The smaller one is dd4's, the bigger is dd1's.

I know that baby!!! We have about three of them! Lydia loves those. She is always wanting one when we go to the dollar store! I think they are pretty cute for a dollar!

I love that outfit!!! It is so girly and frilly! The flowers are a really nice touch.

No pageant flames please...we don't do them anymore, and it's paid for her college, unless she plans on Yale, so we are now finished. :)

With all this talk of cake... I just wanted to share a quick photo of the cake I made for DD's birthday last month.

Very pretty picture. That pic looks familiar, but I can't even begin to place where I would have seen it. My grandparents want Jenna to be in the VFW pageant. They aren't allowed to wear makeup in that one. She is finally old enough this year and I might let her do it. And Yay for paying for college. Jenna's college is paid for too, but her's is paid for because of child support. I have been doing fine on my own for the last several years so everything that her dad has been paying has gone into an account for her. By the time she is 18 she will have enough for college.

Very pretty cake. I made Jenna a castle cake this past year. I don't have any pictures of it and I am glad. Ya'll's cakes put my little one to shame. Where did you get the castle peices? They really are cute and very customizable.

I don't have a picture of the night gown that I just made Jenna (because she is wearing it in bed), but I have to tell why I made a night gown tonight. Yesterday Jenna picked out two flannel fabrics for me to make jammies with. Well tonight after her shower she informs me that she wants to wear one of her new gowns. So I told her that they are not made and to please wear one that she already has. She said "I can wait. I'll just cover up in your bed and watch TV." :lmao: So I made a pink and Tinkerbell night gown so my child would be happy and not niked.

Gorgeous!!!! I neeeeed to know how to make this style of dress. It is beautful. And so is your little girl :) picture perfect. I hope my little girl let's me make her hair pretty when she gets older. I'm a cosmetologist. At this point she runs around with wild fine straight hair that I can't even put up in a poytail without her ripping it out. :sad2:

Hi All
Ok I am ready to get going on a couple projects- I picked up the butterick 5019 that everyone was very fond of a while back. And I wanted to ask if there were any tips anyone wanted to share. I will post pictures of the fabric in the am, I want to do different colors for the front and back.I bought bias tape for the edges. I also have a few questions. A) Did you line it? It looks like you may want to line the front piece as you could see the wrong side of the fabric. :confused3 B) It also looks like many of you put different straps on it- is that from the ycmt pattern?

I also want to make some more tulle tutus- I want to try the ribbon ones- wasn't it flea who posted about those- I think that is your red headed cutie in the picture. I thought I had saved the instructions but I can't find where that is

Alright off to bed.....
Good morning :goodvibes

This is awesome. I cant let my dd see or she will want it!

Which one from YCMT are you using? The Portrait Peasant Dress/Top pattern is my absolute favorite, but the Dainty Designs is not very user friendly.

Did you use a pattern for this? I'm really loving the ruffle open front and don't know where to start.

My dd2 was in my lap and she said "you have to make that for my bday" :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Waaaaay beyond my realm of cakehood!!! Great job!

Thank you! DD really liked it too! The castle pieces are part of Wilton's new Romantic Castle Cake set. I do have to say though, it was not very easy to get the pieces to stay wear I wanted them. I have taken the Wilton's cake decorating classes even!
