Disboutiquers Part 4ish Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes psst..we sew

As a Mom-sewer I'd put my head together with my Disney-neighbor and we'd knock out some outfits with Hancock fabric in Ohio-in the early 90's they were the only ones who would have odd bolts of disney!

Now we can find it almost everywhere! I see all these beautiful children enjoying their outfits and wonder- Lucky little ones and KUDOS to you talented seamstresses!

Does Dad and MOM ever craft something for their wearing pleasure- (Or do I need to go to another thread to show my Ariel painted levi's or my other Little Mermaid cloths that I wear and the CARS stuff for my hubby?).

My youthful 55 yr old DH wanted Cars clothes....in three trips in 11 months we had not found anything for men. That meant I had to do a wardrobe with Car's fabric.

I am an analogue woman in a digital world so it will take some practice to get the photos to show....

I made a Titanic "Rose chooses life" (red/black dress) for my trip last September, lots of fun to wear after all the hours of beading and handwork-

Keep up the stitching-it will make WONDERFUL memories for your children and YES they will remember how much they loved it!

Oh no WE want to see them!!! I made my self some pirate/princess jeans, and when I say made I mean I cut out and glued them on- I found this thread to soon before our last trip and only made one outfit each for the kids.But we did have matching/coordinating iron on shirts for the other days of the trip!! Anyway here are the pants.

Tinkabelle- I love both of the Dresses!!! Of course the sailor suit is cute too!!!

We do have adults posting articles they've made. I don't do much more then iron-ons for a tshirt. I really like to make twirling skirts and that is something I'd never wear.

I've seen some Hubby shirts here also. A car shirt would be awesome! I'd like to make some other things, once I get Kirsta's stuff out of the way. (my sister and family are coming with us this trip).

I've been lurking for a long while and you've inspired me to make a shirt for my tomboy DD. She loves Cars so I made her this Butterick 3832. Unfortunately it is WAY too short. I'm going to make it again as it was so easy. I haven't used my sewing machine in over 4 years. Thanks again for sharing all your amazing work!!!!!!

I love this! How about adding a red ruffle around the bottom?

Tinka_belle - out of the 3 you posted I 'd say the dress (with the white bodice) I like the Mickey with the bow tie for Chef Mickey's. I love the pants set for a cruise. But this one is my all time favorite Minnie dot dress..

Thanks. A ruffle should have gone on before I sewed it all together. One of the things I like the most about this shirt is the lack of any visable seams. And she's not much of a ruffle gal. I'm looking forward to making a better version!

I JUST bought that first pattern- THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the inspiration! Not sure I can achieve such cute applique- but I love the idea. Wonder how shorts would look?

I love #2 for sheer adorableness! (are you going to buy a petti to go underneath) I dont know when your trip is (or how hot it will be) but it probably isnt any hotter than those princess dresses I see the girls wearing

I was planning on making her a petti-skirt, but I don't think that she will want to wear it while there. She complained last year about being hot.

I liked that one too and I just got a pattern similar to that one from YCMT.

Ummmmmmm. YEAH!!! I think that all qualifies as Memorable!!

When I see the kids I know wearing the low rider jeans- you know.... the ones that show a little bum crack out when they dare to bend over 6 inches, I just look at them, get a big smile on my face and tell them "Just say no to crack!" They just about die laughing.... and then go and change, never to approach me with wearing that stuff again! Sometimes MAMA, you just gotta have a sense of humor about this stuff- ya know????

it will show you all the patterns in the book. the book costs $22.00, but you get 5 different patterns - not bad actually!

Buggy Barn is a technique for quilting. It's really pretty easy.

Thanks for the information on Buggy Barn. They had a dog quilt that I LOVED at the Houston Quilt show last year or the year before. I didn't have much time to look at their booth, so I didn't realize it was a 'technique' - I didn't buy the book because I thought it was too much work and I'd never finish. I have a short attention span for quilts - I don't know how many I have in various degrees of completeness

And I vote for the kitty cat Halloween quilt.

Enchanted Princess, please don't listen to your friend. Goodness, while I believe that BF is best, I was not able to breast feed my DD, I felt like a failure. I never got milk in, despite drinking so much water, eating oatmeal, bananas, taking fenugreek, and pumping constantly. You know what, DD didn't have an ear infection until right before her 3rd birthday. Go figure. I had ear infections all through childhood, not because I was formula fed but because I have narrow ear canals that don't drain well, they still don't. Please don't beat yourself up over this, some kids are just more prone to ear infections than others.

Mytwotinks, it looks like the girls had a great time at the AG Store. Delaney hasn't noticed AG dolls yet, I hope she waits awhile longer. I've got a friend who said if she had to do it again that she'd wait until her DD was 7 to get her first doll. I've thought about getting Delaney a Bitty Baby for Christmas next year, she'll be 4 1/2, but I think I'll hold off awhile longer for the bigger dolls. How do they hold up?

I'm in for the 2011 trip. I promise I'll bring lots of extra power strips for all those sewing machines and lots of quarters so we can prewash fabric!

Delaney and I have been trying to catch up on a few things today. I've been having phone call/appointment making day. I had to schedule her physical and mine. I still have to call the insurance company and then make and appointment for a mammogram (my first one.) It was funny the girls in my OB/GYN office congratulated me on being all grown up now that I have to go get a mammogram. I got to see the doctor that delivered Delaney, I had lots of questions since we're actually going to start TTC in August for a second baby (I must have lost what little portion of my mind I have left) and since Delaney was a very big surprise I needed to know what to do to actually try to have a baby, well, beyond the obvious, so I have to start prenatal vitamins and a few other things. I was a gestational diabetic so I'll probably be starting to mind my sugars again and eating more in a diabetic fashion so I can hopefully avoid the whole thing again.

I think a bitty baby is a great start. If I had it to do over again I would not buy any other dolls. I love them! I think 6 or 7 is a good age for the bigger dolls. There are lots of small accesories to keep track of so it depends on your dd's personality. Drew is really anal about keeping her stuff together so she does really well with them. I think she got interested early because of big sister. Riley didn't even ask for one of the big dolls till she was 8.

I bought some elastic that was non-twist and now it is moving all over. How do I get it to stay in one place.

Make sure the casing is barely wider than the width of the elastic. If the casing is even a little too narrow, it'll cause the elastic to twist up.

If it's for pants or a skirt, I do a center stitch between the top edge and the casing seam, nice and straight. Make sense? I got the idea from observing a store bought pair of pants.

By "Memorable Day" do you mean uber extended family teen drama including tears? Then yes it was very memorable. My 19 yr. old niece (who has wayyy too many funky body part piercings) darling Boy friend is in jail (again) and was in the middle of some personal drama that was really hard for me to keep a straight face while listening to. Now, my other niece,age 16, who every month thinks she's pregnant, wore shorts so short (she's at least 230 lbs if she's an ounce) that I told her "Her foof was hanging out" Except I used the "V" word. She just laughed but I was dead serious. My other nephew, foof girl's brother, brags about the porn he downloads on his phone....his parents don't care.

He's 13. I told him he's making the Baby Jesus cry....

Oh! I was missing a $20 out of my wallet I noticed after they all left.

For DD baby dedication @ church.... Mother In Law wore warm up suit in pink with "Princess" or something like it in silver across her chest (from the Jrs dept Id guess) she must be in her 60s with hair bleached with what I think is real bleach and looks like its been thru a tornado- but somehow she achieves the same windblown-tornado look. BIL is in prision, FIL wore faded black sweatshirt, jeans and sneakers, Neice- around 5 wore the shortest skirt I have ever seen on a 5 year old- and she is NOT "ladylike" SIL wanted to hold baby- so DH passed her down- which meant EVERYONE in his family held her- so much for her beautifully pressed white dress, they crumpled and scrunched in their hands. WHO asks to hold a baby BEFORE the service starts? On a good note- they may have super bad taste, but they would never steal from us- well except BIL in prision. LOL.

Complete opposite of my family. I think if we have a second Ill tell them there's a dress code at our new church- think they'll buy it?
