I just went shopping today and bought the same exact patterns! That is too funny! Didn't get that nice Disney material. I can't find a place that has it. I wonder if Joanns has it. The nearest one is 100 miles away!

I got it at 2 different Joann stores. Our local store is small and only had a few bolts of Disney stuff. The pink Minnie heads, pink Princess, and pink swirl came from the local store. The Friends/World and Tink came from a Joann's in Indy.

this is my fav :) I have some of that mickey fabric here - I love your choice of contrasting colour - it works perfectly. Not sure If I'll be able to find some stuff like that here in NZ but I'm sure I could find something equally as cool :)

I hope you don't mind if I case it for my chicklets :):lovestruc

Ok guys I need some help. Jenna and I can not decide what to make with our prized Minnie Dot fabric. She will be wearing the Minnie Dot outfit to Chef Mickey's. We need help deciding between the three following outfits.

This one originally by Tom. This one is my fav.

This one also by Tom.

This one is Jen's favorite. I can't remember which one but this is by either Teresa or Heather.

The decision is now in the hands of the lovely DisBoutiquers.

I vote for #1. They're all very, very cute. I think the pants would be easier to deal with while at WDw, however. AND, the sailor suit design is just incredibly cute.

very cute stuff! I love it! Where did you get your pink tank top that you appliqued Cinderella to? I'm looking for a cute little girly tank top that is plain without being boyish. I love this one!

Thanks! The pink tank top came from Target. I think it is Circo brand.

Thank you! :goodvibes That blue fabric is from the new Mary Engelbreit line. I can't remember the fabric maker, but it's one of the big ones. You could search Mary Engelbreit fabric on the web.

I finally got pics of teh Mickey dot dresses I made. They've been done for a while, but I forgot to get pics.

Today I finished my baby's birthday dress. I can't believe she'll be 2 next month. Now I just need to make it again for a BAB puppy.

th_2008_03300013.jpg

And finally a question. I had a somewhat strange, but DisBoutique related dream & it reminded me of these dresses I saw at Epcot in Nov.

th_2007_11190118.jpg

Does anyone have any idea where I might find fabric like this? I don't think I've seen anything like this anywhere I've looked recently.
I love those dot dresses! Minnie is cute too. I wonder if you'd have better luck looking for table cothes/naptkins rather than sheets.

That is adorable!!! Your daughter is too cute, her hair is gorgeous!
Thanks! Her hair is nice & thick. It grows so fast and she's the one who wants short hair. My older DD's hair grows much slower and she's the one who wants really long hair.

I finished this outfit for Violette...well almost....I still want to make the cloche hat to go with it but I have to buy some interfacing. Violette is only wearing the top in the pics because I hadn't done the pants at that point. I'll take another pic of the whole outfit once I do the hat. I'm so glad I found this thread! I'm really getting into sewing! Not bad for my 2nd outfit..hehe..

Not bad indeed! So cute!!!

Welcome out of lurkdom! I love this style of shirt. You did a great job on it!
Thanks!

I finally got some pictures of Tessa in her Peter Pan outfit yesterday. She wore it to the birthday party of my "Bestest Friend in the Whole Wide World"'s daughter.

I LOVE that shirt! In fact I think that was what really made me come out of lurkdome! I know I don't have the time right now for that kind of applique but I just had to make something. Thanks for the inspiration!!!!

Lydia just won't draw anything! Just scribbles! BUT, last night, she wanted to play school. And, she wanted me to tell her to practice writing her name. So far, she will only attempt an L, and it's not too good. She wouldn't even try the other letters, because, "She can't, she just CAN'T"...boo hoo..boo hoo.. "It's just TOO hard..." boo hoo boo hoo...... She is so worried she won't do it perfect, she won't even ATTEMPT it! But, she sat down at her desk last night and brought me a paper with a perfectly wrote "Lydia" on it! I actually thought she had had Arminda write it for her (and try to make it look a bit wobbly). But, she did it again "closer to you so you will see I did it myself." I know, not a huge accomplishment for a 5 year old, but I was so proud of her!
My oldest is quite the perfectionist as well. She would only write on a magnadoodle so she could erase it if she made a mistake.

For all the dog lovers out there and everyone who remembers the pictures of my puppies from birth on...I'd like to introduce you to our newest addition. This is the puppy I kept and hopefully a future Champion. Her registered name is going to be Calypso's Hannah Montana and her everyday name is Miley of course :rotfl:

She is so cute!

so I have been lurking for a few months now and thought I would post some things I have made for our upcoming trip to Disney.

Snow White for my younger dd (she just turned 6)

Belle for my older dd (she is 8 1/2)

th_Picture090.jpg

I need to tack up the tulle so it doesn't droop and finish the hem. I made these two dress over Christmas break (I'm almost done with nursing school!) and wasn't sure how much they would grow. They will wear these dresses after an appt at the BBB and for dinner at 1900 Park Faire.

My first attempts at applique:

Thanks for looking.

Great job!!!

I think yellow as a lining would go nicely or red of course. A little rick rack on the edge of the next one might be sweet if she lets you... You could try adding a ruffle of the cars fabric or black fabric onto the bottom of this (run it along the outer edge of the outfit starting in the back. Maybe 2"? and just see if she is interested in it- whats the worst that could happen? You get practice and she doesnt care for it, no sweat since you plan to make her a different one anyway. Just my .02 cents. I love her haircut btw- so sweet and shiney! My DD2 is always out of control, its very fine, so it tends to float- except at WDW- then its curly!
Thanks! I don't think I'll try to fix this one as I'm sure it will be easier to just make a new one. I'm sure I can find a shorter Cars fan for this shirt. Am I allowed to admit that I don't really rick rack?;) I wonder where she gets her tomboy attitude from.

Wow..20 pages...I have been lurking and looking through all the customs real quick and everything looks wonderful and beautiful!!!! I wanted to subscribe to this new thread and I am sorry that I haven't had time to comment individually. My dd has a ear infection again, and I am getting really concerned. She had her first ear infection about 7 weeks ago, and since then have gotten another 2...so 3 ear infections in 7 weeks. Normally, she is better and the pain goes away after couple days of antibiotic treatment, but she has been in pain since Friday. The pediatrician is thinking that we may have to go see an ENT specialist. I feel horrible for her, and feeling that it is all my fault after a friend told me that breastfed babies doesn't get many recurring ear infections. She also has wheat, eggs, and nuts allergies and again I was told that it was because I didn't nurse her long enough. I nurse her for about 7 months. My ds, on the other hand was nursed until he was 15 months, and has outgrew most food allergies except for dairy and nuts at 18 months old, and has not had been sick much or had an ear infection. I feel like a horrible mom! Sorry, I know I am rambling but I just want to cry every time I think about what was said to me and how my dd's allergies and ear infections are my fault! Anyway, we are off to the doctor's again today!

Jenny
 Your DD's ear infections have nothing to do with how long she was breast fed. It's been a really rough winter.

My dd loves cars and also has an obsession with Buzz lightyear. I don't think it has anything to do with th fact she has 3 brothers:lmao:
Your dd is absolutely adorable. She has the sweetest face. The shirt is super cute too!
Thanks! I almost bought Buz fabric too.

I think this is so wonderful. Something different for a girl and she loves it! You're a good mom letting her be who she is! I was a tomboy of sorts when I was little too, and all of a sudden around 13 (hmmmmm... wonder why?? ) I started wanting to be all girlie!
Oh I don't think I have a lot of choice in letting her be who she is. She's very independent. I'm hoping that she's stays that way as a teen and won't care about peer pressure.

I finally have the pics off of my camera to show you all what we are planning on doing.
Can't wait to see the finished products!

I finished the Lucky applique this weekend, now I just need to finish the twirly skirt to match it.

th_DSCF6416.jpg
They are all so cute! I really liked the purple minnie one too!

Okay- so the results are in for our final weigh-in.

Who's curious what the results were?

1st- My husband 28lbs loss 14.14%-wins a free 1 year gym membership
2nd I tied another woman at 9.6% I lost 18lbs, she lost 14.5lbs

Because my team won (which included my husband) both DH and I win $50 Amex gift card.

Just finished cutting out my first Disney outfit for DD. With Mickeys on it- first time I have used fabric with pictures on it.
So do I attempt an appliqued Mickey head or just leave the fabric as is?

I have Heat n bond lite- do I need stablizer too? IF I do the applique I would do it on fabric prior to sewing bodice lining on (which comes very early in the directions.
Do you need photos to help decide?
Congratulations to you and your DH!!!!

I really like the sailor suit but the 3rd one might be better for an older girl.

I found a place to bring my machine for a cleaning. The place I bought it at is gone and the other closest place only does Singer machines. I found one only about 20 minutes from my office. I think I'll drop it off tomorrow and get it fixed before I attemp a redo on the Cars shirt.

As a Mom-sewer I'd put my head together with my Disney-neighbor and we'd knock out some outfits with Hancock fabric in Ohio-in the early 90's they were the only ones who would have odd bolts of disney!

Now we can find it almost everywhere! I see all these beautiful children enjoying their outfits and wonder- Lucky little ones and KUDOS to you talented seamstresses!

Does Dad and MOM ever craft something for their wearing pleasure- (Or do I need to go to another thread to show my Ariel painted levi's or my other Little Mermaid cloths that I wear and the CARS stuff for my hubby?).

My youthful 55 yr old DH wanted Cars clothes....in three trips in 11 months we had not found anything for men. That meant I had to do a wardrobe with Car's fabric.

I am an analogue woman in a digital world so it will take some practice to get the photos to show....

I made a Titanic "Rose chooses life" (red/black dress) for my trip last September, lots of fun to wear after all the hours of beading and handwork-

Keep up the stitching-it will make WONDERFUL memories for your children and YES they will remember how much they loved it!:yay:

Ohhhhhhhhh UTAHMAMA!!!!!

Just wondering how the Baptism went on Saturday? Did you and your fam have a memorable day?

It went wonderfully!

By "Memorable Day" do you mean uber extended family teen drama including tears? Then yes it was very memorable. My 19 yr. old niece (who has wayyy too many funky body part piercings) darling Boy friend is in jail (again) and was in the middle of some personal drama that was really hard for me to keep a straight face while listening to. Now, my other niece, age 16, who every month thinks she's pregnant, wore shorts so short (she's at least 230 lbs if she's an ounce) that I told her "Her foof was hanging out" Except I used the "V" word. She just laughed but I was dead serious. My other nephew, foof girl's brother, brags about the porn he downloads on his phone....his parents don't care.

He's 13. I told him he's making the Baby Jesus cry....

Oh! I was missing a $20 out of my wallet I noticed after they all left.

you made me choke on my PB&J!!!

I often remind the children of the possibility of making the Baby Jesus cry if they misbehave!!!

You gotta be BAD to allow such a thing to happen!!

Thanks for sharing though!! Aside from the choking, I was highly amused...with you...not AT you...

:goodvibes

Ummmmmmm. YEAH!!! I think that all qualifies as Memorable!! :rotfl2:

When I see the kids I know wearing the low rider jeans- you know.... the ones that show a little bum crack out when they dare to bend over 6 inches, I just look at them, get a big smile on my face and tell them "Just say no to crack!" They just about die laughing.... and then go and change, never to approach me with wearing that stuff again! Sometimes MAMA, you just gotta have a sense of humor about this stuff- ya know????:rotfl:

I JUST bought that first pattern- THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the inspiration! Not sure I can achieve such cute applique- but I love the idea. Wonder how shorts would look?
I love #1 for practicality
I love #2 for sheer adorableness! (are you going to buy a petti to go underneath) I dont know when your trip is (or how hot it will be) but it probably isnt any hotter than those princess dresses I see the girls wearing
