Here's Lily's latest. I CASEd the pants from sugarbees. I was to cheap to buy an iron on skull applique so I made one. I used felt for the skull. We saw some very expensive baby t's at a boutique appliqued with felt. I used heat 'n' bond and just stitched it on. It was SO EASY! Now we'll just see how it holds up in the wash. I used a felt square because it is my first try but I think I will buy some felt off the bolt. And I sorta feel like the "bow on a skull" is bizarre, but I wanted to add some red in there somewhere. I guess it is better than blood :rotfl: Lily loves it and is very into being a pirate!

Now...a little about me. I have been wanting to learn to sew, but promised DH I would get caught up on my scrapbooks first. So, I have my mom and MIL making outfits and costumes for the girls for our trip in Oct...many ideas came from lurking here.:lovestruc
:welcome:!!! Make sure you post pictures of the outfits your mom and MIL make!

Now THAT is love!!! Wow...your fabric "store" is impressive!! I showed my husband and he looked at me very pointedly and said "I would be forced to end my life..." :lmao: He's not kidding. Poor hubby is obsessive/compulsive. He gets upset by "piles" of anything...and two magazines are a "pile" to him.

That sounds an awful lot like my husband! He is incredibly anal when it comes to the house being "messy". A blanket on the floor that the kids are playing with constitutes "messy" in his eyes.

:welcome:!!! I MUST see this Titanic dress you made!!!!!! I was a certifiable Titaniac back in 1998. I actually saw the movie 11 times in the theater! Yes, I was a bit nuts. I even had my kitchen decorated with Titanic stuff.

You think that's bad? Sugarbees, where are you? :rolleyes1 You two need to chat! And sugarbees has that titanic dress too! Post photos girl!

Thanks everyone for the kind words..it really means a lot to me! We were back at the pediatrician's yesterday, and he said it looks better than it did on Thursday and we will do a follow up in couple weeks and take it from there. Hopefully, it is all good from here on and we won't have to see an ENT. She woke up this morning and said that her ear doesn't hurt anymore!

I am going to do some sewing today, and try and catch on this board! Wow..31 pages!!

Felt! What a great idea! Please let us know how it washes. So, you just stitched around it, not zig-zag? Anything to make an easier applique is great in my book. This outfit turned out SOOO cute! I love that last pose of Lily's. She is doing a "Sawyer".

Thank you for enjoying my angel doggy picture. I took way longer than any sane person would to take that picture, put the halos on, and post it.

camelotcats- HOLY COW! I have never seen so much fabric! I wish I could come to your "fire sale"!

Coming out of lurkdom to comment...my DD who will be 5 in June got a Bitty Baby for Christmas at 18 months. She takes the doll everywhere with her..."Baby Alexa" has even been to WDW and Epcot. She gets her dressed every morning and puts her pajamas on her every night. She has a few outfits to match the doll. I have finally convinced my mom to make her some so I can quit buying them. This is a great doll for this age. I am debating on getting her a "big" AG doll, but think I am waiting until she turns 6.

Youcanmakethis.com has some really cute patterns for the AG dolls and the Bitty Babies also. The lady who makes those patterns also makes matching patterns for girls too.

I think I might try that felt applique. Jenna was looking at the felt squares yesterday at Hancock Fabrics and was wanting me to make something for her with them. I told her that I didn't know what to make, but now I can do an applique so thanks for the idea. Oh and I love the bow on the skull.

Yes, I just stitched around a little inside the edge. The shirts at this boutique also had some with a wide zig zag stitch--but not like a satin applique stitch. It was so easy. I did have to cover my felt with paper when I was ironing on the heat 'n' bond because I don't think it likes that much heat. I wish I'd had white felt on hand to do the "bones" but I just had to use regular fabric. A felt Mickey head would be a piece of cake and would last at least one wearing! I think the heat n bond will help keep the felt together too, it would also help using better quality felt :rolleyes1 but I don't know if people can stand felt appliques in Florida in the summer! :rotfl: But for what they are charging for those felt applique t-shirts at the boutique, they better hold up!

LOVE the felt pirate!

We have several shirts that have felt type applique that hold up well. One of my friends in australia makes them as a hobby. I actually just bought 6 from her! A few are for gifts though. Her notes say to hand wash them, but I "accidentally" threw them in the wash inside out. The felt gets a little pilly, but not a big deal at all. I would say that they boys' shirts have been worn probably 8-10 times now. I don't know if I can post a link to her store to give you an idea of what I am talking about. Anybody know if I can post a link?

Oh what a fierce looking pirate!!! Very Cute!!!
I am going to Joanns this evening when I go to work.

If I was close I would be running over to claim some of that now!
I say you should go to :wizard: with most of it - you know you'd make a killing

The reason I am doing it the way I am is that I have problems letting go, So DH bought me 15 50 gallon totes, and whatever I fit into those, I kep, everything else goes....and I can replace if everything sells....actually, he sai he'll give me some $$ to replace from the Disney $$ withou touching the Disney $$....since he knows I'll end up spending it all on the kids.

I KNOW I'd make a killing on :wizard: bt DH says it's too much work, and it would never get done, because I can't let go....he's right. :sad1: This is like yanking off a bandaid.

Oh, and the totes are for some of my 5,000 patterns, other not-pictured room of trim, etc. also.

Ok guys I need some help. Jenna and I can not decide what to make with our prized Minnie Dot fabric. She will be wearing the Minnie Dot outfit to Chef Mickey's. We need help deciding between the three following outfits.
th_Disneyoutfits072.jpg

This one originally by Tom. This one is my fav.
th_Disneyoutfits040.jpg

This one also by Tom.
th_3-28-08minniedotdress.jpg

This one is Jen's favorite. I can't remember which one but this is by either Teresa or Heather.

The decision is now in the hands of the lovely DisBoutiquers.

I love them all, but I think Tom's dress is my favorite.

I HAVE A HEART OF THE OCEAN TATTOO!! Do I win the freakiest Titanic fan award? OH YESSSSS...I was a major TITANIC FREAK..still am, kinda, actually! I still have an area of my home that is dedicated to my Titanic memorabilia...of course, I did finally pu the collector plates away, but, still have most of everything else out...
SADLY though, my dress was lost in the move from CA to UT...
This saddens me like you would not believe...still have the LeCoeur de la mer EXACT replica that I wear every now and then...maybe I'll pull it out for Bunko tomorrow night....
Go ahead and laugh, I am a freak....:sad2:

I bet she's not as tight with the Viking people as our cousin. :rolleyes1 Right Teresa?;)

I'm just excited that somebody in this place will talk to me!:woohoo: We moved from here about 5 months ago and nobody is really welcomed us to the area except her. She is great! I take care of my FIL and from time to time I have to call the ambulance and she ALWAYS runs over to get the kids. And she really has taken me in with the sewing stuff. I had just sewed a few things before coming here and she has given me a ton of help!:goodvibes

So here is what I got in my mail yesterday from :wizard: I had never seen it before and I NEEDED it for my Disney I spy quilt. :rotfl: I got a little over 2 yards for $10.99, so not too bad. It's kinda creepy though. They have those orphan annie eyes--I want to get out my fabric marker and fix them! The boys will probably get pjs with the rest of it.

I finished the Lucky applique this weekend, now I just need to finish the twirly skirt to match it.

th_DSCF6418.jpg

Hey, I know that Lucky applique! I can't wait to see it in person :rotfl2: You're lucky I didn't see that purple/blue Mickey outfit you made for Edie or you'd be making me a third outfit before we both leave! It's adorable!

ETA: OMG, Mia saw the Lucky applique as the thread came back up and she screamed "WAIT!" and caming running over. She said "Oh, that's Lucky. He's sooooo adorable. I wish that was my shirt. She's a lucky ::giggle:: little girl, Mom." She has no idea it's *her* Lucky shirt!!!!!

I most certainly won't laugh! I can empathise with you completely. I probably would have gotten the tattoo if my DH wouldn't have freaked! :rotfl: Did you ever go on the countdown 2 (I think it was c2t.com)titanic messageboard, back in the day?

I was referring to a "tryst" my cousin had with several of the owners of the Viking company (I believe they were some of the owners). She gave us WAAAY to much information about a business trip she took once...

I'm glad someone is friendly to you in your new neighborhood!
