I  it! The outfit & the fabric. This is NOT helping my resolve to not buy more fabric right now. ;)

I know how you feel....I see all these pretty dresses and skirts (I'm eying a pattern on youcanmakethis .... patchwork skirt) but I have the best control for fabric buying ever known.....
.....
....
.... I live 40 miles away from a fabric store.....yup it helps to be in the middle of nowhere.

well.....if I can stay away from buying fabric online :D

I made sophia a new dress today!! It is reversible! And I haven't finished the bottom yet. There was a diaper mishap while she was "trying it on" and it now needs to be washed before it can be finished :sad2:

ok back to catch up on a few pages....

Love it!

Is it for a girl or boy? If it's for both a girl and boy (or just a boy) I'd say easy fit. If it's just for a girl, then the ruffled capri.

girl (18 month), girl(4/5) and girl(12/14). :D I'm hoping that I can enlarge them and make them for my oldest. She wears a 12/14

With that in mind I would recommend the Easy fit pants because they go up to size 10. If you want the ruffle on it you could just add it to them. That pattern also just about covers all of the sizes that you need.

I was going to say that someone has to finish them before we can give you a preview. But, she beat me to it! :rotfl2:

Glad to hear your bloodwork came out okay!

I also wanted to comment that I'm 5'4" and my husband is 6'3" and he was 4lbs 11 oz when he was born and his mom smoked while she was pregnant in '74. I though that was an interesting coincidence.

Funny the way things work!

This is why I haven't gotten one yet - I mean how do I know how long to make my ruffle fabric?? OR when I do one of Carla's patterns - how do I know what to set it at to attach say the skirt to the bodice??

This is my problem exactly and I hate trial and error. Grrrr!

How cute! I love the ties on the shoulders! Your kids are so adorable!

YAY!! I didn't know you finished them! Yes, we'll definitely take a picture of the girls together tomorrow.

Oops- I was so excited that we and our husbands are the same height, possibly born the same year, who's mothers had the same bad habit during pregnancy, resulting in babies weighing almost the same amount- that I forgot to comment on your new ruffler. Have you downloaded the free "Unruffling the ruffler" ebook on youcanmakethis.com? CarclaC wrote it, so it's really easy to understand. Every ruffler and every machine seems to be a little different. So, you'll have to fiddle with the settings on it until you get the ruffles the way you want them. But, the ebook will tell you how to do that.

I did, I just want exact directions! Is that too much to ask? :rotfl2: I know I will probably have to fiddle with it, but I wanted to complain!

Way to go Jenna! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

My first baby I had gestational diabetes. They didn't figure it out till I was 8 months prego. That dd was 10 LBs and 12 oz! My second dd I didn't have gestational diabetes and she was ONLY 9 lbs and 2 oz....a tiny baby in comparision.

My mom smoked when she was pregnant with me (that was back in 74 too) and I was still 7lbs 6 oz! She smoked with all her kids and I was the smallest. I am still the shortest!

Hmm, must be something about '74. I honestly don't think they knew all of the health problems.

I think rufflers have minor variations plus it seems to me that different fabric will ruffle a little differently - mostly due to the thickness of the fabric. When I got mine, I took a length of fabric and put my ruffler settings on the shallowest "pleat", set it to pleat every stitch and made my stitch length to the longest my machine will do. I measured the fabric strip before and after ruffling. I usually still need to pull the bobbin thread a bit as I pin the ruffle to the other fabric but it's usually just a small amount so I can get seams to line up.

I guess I will buck up and practice with it. Just to make sure I'm clear though (and apparently I'm a little slow!), I shouldn't sew two things together with the ruffler though, just use the ruffler foot in place of gathering? Then once I get the length right, then sew together. Once I get the hang of it, can/will the ruffler allow me to sew two things together and ruffle at the same time?

Thanks for all of the well wishes with my tests. I know having GD wouldn't be so bad but I really hate the idea of watching my diet that closely, I'm just so lazy! Of course, if push came to shove, I would in a heart beat. And not gaining a ton of weight would be great, I am trying to keep it down to around 25 pounds so I don't have a ton to lose after having the baby, especially since I had around 20 pounds to lose before the pregnancy!

I am so behind and will try to catch up later. We are having incredible drama with the PTA of all things. It is very ugly and why can't people act like adults? Anyway, I did finish something this week. It's a shirt of Tom's that is now a cute dress for Megan:

I made my own lining but added the ruffle for modesty. I am not crazy about the ruffle so for my next attempt I think I will try Carla's halter top patter for the front. I made the straps too short so I sewed them together for instant halter top, lol.

I looooove the knife pleats! I am totally addicted to them.

Heather and Teresa: Tom will not be coming to the meet, he is a silly man who does not appreciate internet friends. :snooty:

I have never seen that Napoleon movie ya'll are talking about. That is all!

hey again "friends"....when it rains it pours with me. I just got back from the doctor and found out I have a cyst on my right ovary ths size of a Basketball. YES, a basketball, he said is is in my entire abdomenal region. I went to the doctor saying that I have been having bad cramps for my period and they did a trans******l ultrasound to find the cyst. They have decided to remove my right ovary. Now I have to deal with being in the hospital for 2 days, and recovery is a month. My DH travels with his job for those that don't know and is gone Monday - Friday. And all the problems i have been having with my DD. My doctor wants me to do this surgery ASAP, but no later than 1 month away. I lost it at the doctors office and was balling like a baby. I felt so stupid, let me tell ya! Im really scared and coudl use your prayers and well wishes. Guess im telling y'all cause im really still in shock and scared. I asked how common cyst are, and he says he has been treating for over 22 years and this is the 3 largest he has saw. THey are not at all common. :scared1:

I will add you to my prayers - my SIL just had two large cysts removed in February (grapefruit and orange sized). They were able to do it laprosocpically and thankfully she hasn't had an new ones form. I have suffered from cyst pains since middle school - so I know a little about it too - thankfully mine have gone away on their own and the one that won't go away is still only marble sized. I will add this to my prayers - gotta have faith that all will work out for the best!!

Love the ***** what a dirty word!

I understand the trauma with DH's travel schedule. My DH travels a lot and for the first year of Grace's life he was gone Mon-Friday. It is so stressful. I don't blame you for being upset and showing it. You have had so much going on. I am sending you prayers and well wishes. I'm sure the surgery will go fine and I think cysts are probably common, maybe just not the size of yours? I know I have a cyst in one of my ovaries (and my sister has some also) but since it is small it is just something they are watching. Keep your chin up and tell you DH that he has to help you and that travel immediately following the surgery probably can't happen for a while. And hopefully your recovery will be easy and quicker than expected. Good luck!

Wow, that is a lot to deal with. Please know that you are in our prayers. If it makes you feel any better, a close friend just had a grapfruit size ovarian cyst removed about a month ago and was feeling well enough to go back to work after two weeks. She said that the pain releif from having "that thing" gone was such that she really didn't notice the pain from the incisions. She said that apparently she had gotten so used to hurting that she didn't realize how much pain the cyst was causing. Her back, legs ect. have been much better since the surgery. She has lots more energy and can do more with her kids. So there is an up side to having it removed!!!
