Angela- wow- not fun.
I was definitely a "natural" girl, and my original plan was to be at the birth center- rooms look like a B&B. But very overdue and we failed our bio-physical test- and I ended up in the hospital- but got to keep my midwife and doula- NO men (except for DH) allowed. LOL
I too felt sort of like an alien-invasion - my body was not mine. and Okay- my own little pet peeve... People stopped asking about me, my work, my dogs, whatever. I had to go to my DB's daughter's christening and more than 20 ppl asked "Ohh, how are you feeling??" or "can I touch your tummy?"
Me- fine, thanks, how are you feeling? and "No"
LOL- I absolutely hated having ppl ask me how I was feeling!!! (while looking at my stomach)
okay- here's Megan-she is about 2min old

Need your opinion- Ill be back tomorrow to chech for responses
I finished the A-line top and am working on the easy fit pants. Trying to decide if I should do rick rack or leave plain

Your DD is very cute for just a couple of minutes old. I like the pants with the rick rack.

This is how it looks when worn:
th_DSCF2488.jpg

and this is how it's sewn on:
th_DSCF2487.jpg

I have two for more everyday wear underneath things that have lace at the bottom instead of fluff, and difference in fullness is amazing!

Thanks for this... let me see if I've got it right - it sort of looks like it has been folded in half and stitched down the centre (so 4 ruffles one folded at the edge) is that right?? if looks all full and gorgeous. And I've got a quote to send the chiffon to NZ 24yds for $39 - trying to decide if it's worth it - how many skirts would I get out of 24yds

ooooh and another question ......... How well do they travel?? how much do they squish down or will I be sending them in their own suitcase :rotfl2:

I think I want to make them both a yellow one (Belle and SnowWhite) and I'm thinking blue for em and purple for Izzy :) (cos they need more than 1 each right :rolleyes1 )

oh and if you haven't already can this go in the photobucket account so I can find it again :)

Great Idea :thumbsup2

Thanks for all your help with my tear, I got it fixed and here are some pictures of the finished product

That's what I would have done - maybe using binding instead of ribbon (just because that's what I have handy :) looks great

Ooooh gorgeous - what Ottobre Magazine?? I might have to see if I have that one in my stash. I love ottobre magazines too - great value for money :)

And all the baby pictures are just making me clucky. No more babies in this house though :( I would love to be one of those ladies who have fantastic pregnancies but unfortunately I spend alot of time either in hospital or confined to the bed. Not really ready to do that again while my girls are so little.

oooooooohhhh I wanna share my fabric shopping with you. I ordered this the other week (just waiting for it to arrive)

this is for a comforter set I'm doing for the girls new bedroom and I also think it's perfect for something for the hawaii part of our trip

And this fabric did not wash well at all for me. I found it was bleeding on the mickey faces and hands in the wash and then it also bled on my applique fabric. I let Cam wear it once and then took the buttons back off and got rid of it

And a couple of other random things I made for Gabi can be seen on my Flickr for those who have time or an inclination to look ;) I would have gotten better modeling pics for you guys but there was no hope, both kids were sick all week :sad1:

They all look great! I love the dresses. I have all that material left over from other dresses and I am thinking of using that new Simply Sweet pattern with them! I saw that mickey material but didn't get it, glad I didn't!

Just wanted to share my newest dress! Thanks for letting me share! I just love this site and all of the awesome designs!

This is also made from a shower curtain that I got on Clearence at Target a while back for $4.99! lol

Oh and I have had lots of ? About where I got the Winnie the pooh sheet. We have this store called Gabes, which is a discount store that sells seconds. I bought it there for $4.99. It included a pillowcase and the fitted sheet. I know you can find them on Ebay. I will be going back next week and if you would like for me to pick one up for you, just let me know!

Candice

I love the money dress! It is so cute. And your little one is so darn cute!

The pants were super easy. They were from the same pattern I did for my tinkerbell outfit. The top was a little more complex, but after sleeping on it for a night, I figured it out! The only help from momma was serging the ruffles! I loved this material. The eyelet was so pretty and easy to work with!

LOVE your A-line top. I wouldn't add the rick rack but I've got to admit I don't love rick rack.

Great job! So cute!

Super cute! I am definitely going to start looking at shower curtains for possible dresses now: great idea!

Also, love you girls' new hair do's! I, too just got mine all cut off, but there will be NO pics, because I DO NOT LIKE IT AT ALL! It is really not the cut, but just that my hair is ugly in general, no style looks good anymore! My hair is falling out by the handfuls and has gotten really thin, and my mom is driving me crazy about going to the doctor, but I just don't have time!

Listen to your mother! I'm sorry you don't like your new haircut.

I love it and I am sure your sister will too! I knew you could do it. I love the black and white combo.

I love that paisley fabric! I think it looks super cute with the ric rac.

ooooh and another question ......... How well do they travel?? how much do they squish down or will I be sending them in their own suitcase :rotfl2:

I do not know this firsthand, but I have read it you put them in the bathroom upside down with the hotwater running the steam will fluff them back out.

Beautiful fabrics: it's going to be lovely! :thumbsup2

Love the flowers with the plaid! Such a beautiful spring outfit!

I got the pink disney petti yesterday in the mail! It is adorable and fits great.

Here are Megan's socks! Before:

th_IMG_0437.jpg
th_IMG_0441.jpg

I made her wear her monkey dress and told her to tell all her friends if they wanted one, have their moms bid on it tonight. Megan said she would only tell her girl friends, which I thought was an excellent point.
Megan's hair looks so pretty! after you took the socks out that is! And, she is just too cute!!!

Second, Megan's hair looks great! I'm seriously considering trying this on myself! I'm sure Henry will just LOVE me coming to bed looking like that!
Please take a picture if you do that!!!!

Emily

Well, look how great that turned out!!! I think the ribbon really makes it extra special!! It looks fantastic!

I made my oldest DD's American Girl Doll a dress to match my DD's shirt. That dress was harder to make than the girls' sizes! It has been a good 10 years since I've done buttonholes so I was afraid of that but they came out good until I too had a small mishap with the seam ripper. I cut the thread of the buttonhole on one of the buttonholes. Not a huge deal since it is just for a doll but I've got to get a buttonhole cutter before I do the buttonholes on the girls' shirts!

th_Molly1.jpg
That is so cute!!!!!

This was the highlight of khrystian's day (besides his shirt and new shoes) i think this was more .. he is walking around with his card From Jayden (Jhammie's adorable DD). Thank you Jayden,,,
th_DSCF1708.jpg
Jayden just got home and I showed her the picture of Khrystian. I think it made HER day. She is giggling and giggling.
Uh oh!!! Young love....

Khrystian and Jayden sittin' in a tree, K- I -S -S -I -N -G ......
Wow I am back from my traffic court!
So the truck driver left in handcuffs.
Both the judge and the prosecutor really chewed him out. I never expected anything like that to happen. I really don't know how this man is licensed to drive. I bet he can't go 12 months with out a moving violation and ends up in jail.

Wow! I'm glad it was easy for you. It sounds stressful though!

I wanted to show buttons in better photo- DD loves these buttons

Today is the first time she has worn pig tails.

.

The buttons are really cute!!!! And your daughter looks adorable in her pigtails!!!!

Found this on Isn't it adorable!!The seller says it's a new fabric. Now I have something to look forward to!

Sally, I love that!!! I am going to have to resist the urge to go find that for myself!!! I love the sublty of it! It doesn't hit you as Disney fabric right away, but then, there it is!!! So pretty!

!!!SHAMELESS POST!!!

With all this talk about curlers, I thought I'd take a pic of DD's hair before it goes straight. This is just after a bath, before it got combed again...

IMG_0587.jpg

I really hope her hair stays this way when she grows up.

Emily is so pretty!!!! Her hair is gorgeous!!! Lydia has a nice wave to her hair. Some days it's curlier than others. I need to trim it up again, and then it usually bounces back up!

Okay so seriously...I would fail the glucose test. I simply can't NOT throw up gag inducing thick liquids...even typing that makes me gag a little bit.

With Corey, (went to an ob/gyn, that I did NOT like) they did the long 3 hour test, which requred drinking a bottle of thick goo. But, with Arminda and Lydia, my midwife (I love my midwife by the way!) gave me a short test first with a small amount of the icky stuff, and it didn't seem quite as thick. If that came back ok, then I didn't need the three hour long big bottle test. With Lyddy though, the short test came back funny, so I had to take the long test, with the bigger bottle of stuff.

Since we seem to wearing Miss Cammie down on the baby thing.....here's some more pics to keep the feeling alive!

This is Michael, he was just a couple of months old (pre-digital).
th_baby1.jpg

Here is Parker -- she is 1 day old!
th_baby2.jpg
BEAUTIFUL babies!!! Parker and Michael were beatufiul then and now!!! Parker's outfit looks a lot like Lyddy's coming home outfit! So cute!

th_IMG_0445.jpg

Look how crazy I look! I took four pictures and this was the best one.
Stephanie, you look great!!! And, as always, I appreciate the alternate view of your house!

Since I am in a show-off kind of mood, here is the oldest picture of the kids I have on the computer. They could have been so cute in customs: I just didn't know!

DSC00389.jpg

Look how little they are!

You guys really ARE too cute!!!! Look at little Megan and Jacob!!! Megan looks so much like you. Gorgeous! I had a shirt just like yours in white.
I had just started Weight Watchers after having Lyddy, and Corey told me, "Mom you should wear white more, because you look skinny!" Of course, he was nuts, I still had a good 30 pounds to lose, but I did appreciate the compliment!!!

Ok, my mom sent some pics, since we lost all of our pictures.

this is Spencer right after he was born (not cute):

You look great for just having a baby!!! I love your family picture!!!

The oldest picture we have of Lyddy is her coming out of my incision! I think it is really cool, I don't even think she'd taken her first breath yet. I won't share that with you guys though! It's not for the faint of heart!

What a bummer about the fabric bleeding! It was really cute too.

Candice, that is so cute!!! Did the curtain come appliqued, or did you do that? So clever!
OK, TMI! Sorry!

I got the spinal right through a tattoo. :rotfl2: At that point, I was beyond caring.

YET, after having basically a textbook "worst case birth where mom and baby are perfectly fine and healthy at the end"

Wow, that had to be so frightning! I am glad you all came out of it ok.

This makes me nervous, I cant remember if I prewashed the micey fabric- but I dont think I did. What cycle did you run it on?
Maybe Ill just try handwashing in cold....I suppose the good thing is that it fits her perfectly now, which means it wont fit her for long

Because of you ladies- I prewash everything now- and I have to say, I do like having clean fabric that smells nice- especially when I press it!
It does get harder to manage if I have say- 3yards of something

8aa0_1.JPG

Found this on :wizard: Isn't it adorable!!The seller says it's a new fabric. Now I have something to look forward to!

OK ladies tell me what you think. I bought fabric today for my soon to be adopted daughter. :)
This is going to be a strip jumper shirt and the easy fit pants.
sewing006.jpg

The darker blue to the left is going tobe the bodice and pants then the lighter is the ruffle and cuff , the rest will be strips. I am pretty sure when I get it back I will be adding hot air balloons to the bodice. It will be for her to wear to the Balloon Races Balloon Glow we have here every year.

sewing005.jpg

This I just thought was cute not sure where she will wear it. The print with the ocean will be the skirt of the shirt. The blue will be the bodice and pants and then the rainbow the ruffle straps and cuff on the pants.

Lastly I was going through fabric and I have a ROAK. I will have my almost 3 year old draw a name out Sunday afternoon. :) I had bought it thinking that I would use it for a dress but I relized tonight there are no princesses who look like her and I would rather find something does. :) Anyway it is 2 yards of this fabric. If you are interested send me a pm.

sewing002.jpg

Ooohhh I love those fabrics. I would love to make a bag out of that pink Minnie Fabric.

See, I always viewed being pregnant as being a host to a parasite. :rotfl2: I HATED being pregnant, both times. And I kind of always DID consider being pregnant as a "form" of being sick because of it. Before a lot of medical interventions, the BIGGEST mortality cause for women was childbirth. I htink you need to figure out what is the best level for you. No one in my family had a history of birthing problems (Other than a VERY premature still birth my 3-pack-a-day-while-pregnant grandmother had....though she delivered fine). Still, Spencer was diagonal, adn when they thought they were feelign his head when I was in labor, it was his SHOULDER. We both almost died. VERY bad scary story, NOT to be shared with women thinking about having children.

I barely noticed I was even having a c-section. I was SO out of it at that point from the pain and the eclampsia. I wasn't lucid. All I did was scream I wanted to see my baby, since they had to check him and it was like 4 minutes before I got to see him. I was mental, I swear. I was doign so badly that literally 2 minutes after that pic was taken, they had to put me under general anesthesia and shoo DH out of the room. He left BEFORE the baby. I swear. Later the Ob admitted she was worried I wan't going to come out again, and they didn't want him to see me die. :scared: At thatpoint, my blood pressure was close to 300/150. To this day, they don't know how my heart didn't seize.

OK, TMI! Sorry!

I got the spinal right through a tattoo. :rotfl2: At that point, I was beyond caring.

YET, after having basically a textbook "worst case birth where mom and baby are perfectly fine and healthy at the end"

TWELVE MONTHS AND TWO DAYS LATER I had Brianna....who was Breech. :headache: Stubborn thing.

My mother was AGHAST when I told her that being pregnant was nothing more than having a parasite invade your body and you go from "Person with a life and interests and wants and needs"...to a "HOST". This bothered me immensely! So I hear you on that. I've softened my view a little...but still...that's technically what pregnancy IS! I have A LOT of issues with hospitals...male doctors...and having my body treated like a science experiment and having no say and/or people just *assuming* that I will go along with every test under the sun b/c "everyone else does" or "it's standard". It is part of the reason I am still so iffy on the pregnancy thing. Once I am pregnant I am well aware that at least some of my choices are going to disappear. My husband knows that I will be an insane pregnant person.

this is why I have a good therapist! I want to be the happy "Earth Mother" who loves being pregnant...but I know I'm going to be a nutcase who feels out of control of my body which will make me ever MORE controlling about everything else!

poor husband.

perhaps we sHOULD stick to dogs!

Angela, we're trying to talk her INTO having a baby! :rotfl:

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Seeing pictures of your babies weaken my resolve like nothing else! They are absolutely gorgeous!

I could tell her my adoption story-NOTHING is as scary as that!:lmao:
The "highlight" was the "delivery" 22 HOURS on a plane with a REALLLLLLLLY mad 4 year old who kicked the seat in front of her for 12 HOURS!!!!!! non-stop.

AND I had her picture for 2 YEARS before I could go get her. (How's THAT for a long "pregnancy"?

ohhhh the story I could tell ::rolleyes1

Adoption is my list of possibilities too!!! From which country did you adopt? (if you don't mind my asking!)

And I "delivered" a 32 pound 4 year old :lmao: after two weeks of not sleeping in a foreign country. (Did I mention she was REALLLLLLLY mad? LOL).

sounds like an adventure! I salute you! I know that must have been ROUGH to say the least! Is she still mad or has she warmed up some?:goodvibes

(while looking at my stomach)
okay- here's Megan-she is about 2min old
Megan%20Lyn%20Keating%20-%20minutes%20after%20birth-THUMB.jpg

One of my best friends in the world is pregnant and if you ask her how she is feeling she'll give you a death glare! Her dog just died rather suddenly and she is in serious mourning. We aren't allowed to ask her ANY pregnancy questions. At all. I have a whole "mommy to be" basket and I can't send it to her b/c I know it will just upset her. So I have to wait it out until she feels better. Poor girl. Of all of us, knew that being pregnant was NOT going to be her thing. Losing her dog was unexpected and she's not dealing well. I call her every day thought and we talk about work...and the weather!

AND if someone I do not know even DARES to touch my belly...I'll be forced to cause physical pain. I can't believe people would do that! If someone I do know dares to touch my belly...I may have to get violent as well! ;)

I think all y'all would be my only friends during pregnancy...it wouldn't be safe for me to be around others!

oh hey, the Pope is at St.Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan right now!! Irish girl's dream to see!!! He looks so cheerful and friendly...he waves to everybody...My grandmother wanted to know if I was going to get to "see him" while he was here...no grandma...those tickets were gone ages ago. She then said "Well love, did you tell them you are Irish?":lmao: Yes Grandma...I told *them* I was Irish...I still didn't get a ticket to see him!

I love my grandma. She thinks Irish Catholics are closer to God than anyone else!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: We are the chosen ones after all.... ;)

She then asked me if I was planning on a baby before she went to meet the Heavenly Father personally...

*sigh*

thanks grandma!:rotfl:

Wow! I got really behind here. You ladies had a burst of sewing energy!

The good news is that I am finished with my garage sale! I got rid of a bunch of the junk in my house. Now I have to put my house back together after a week of neglect, but that should be easier now that we have soooooo much less crud! I am donating everything that I didn't sell to the bus drivers garage sale that they are having next weekend so I don't even have to bring any of it back to my house!

I can't wait to get sewing again! I have soooo many things on my "to do" list so I plan on being a busy little sewer this week. I am going out with some friends tonight for a girls night out, and then tomorrow after I get the girls at Grandma & Grandpas I am going to clean my house up so Monday is going to be all about sewing!

Okay so seriously...I would fail the glucose test. I simply can't NOT throw up gag inducing thick liquids...even typing that makes me gag a little bit.

So is this test a MUST? Is there another way to test for it? What would happen if one was going the "totally natural", taking prenatal vitamins and that's IT as far as medical intervention route? I've been reading y'all...I've been reading about how women are CONVINCED that this or that test is "necessary" when really it's just for the doctor to keep his rear covered and his malpractice insurance prices down...so women are told things that are scary sounding and made to feel like they have to submit to unnecessary testing and needle sticks and exams and such.

this freaks me out.

I don't like being fibbed to and I don't like being a pin cushion so the doctor can have lower insurance premiums.

am I just a nut?

I had kidney problems when I was little and i was in and out of hospitals and a total pin cushion for big mean jerk face doctors who would say something wasn't going to hurt and then it DID...just another issue that makes the MissCammie Personality Soup!

Has anyone seen the Ricki Lake documentary "The Business of Being Born"?

I may go the hippie "Don't touch me" route.

:hippie: :flower3:

I was dreading the glucose test, but it wasn't bad at all. It taste just like orange soda, just a little thicker. That was the only test that I had throughout both my pregnancy. I had a really wonderful ob/gyn who didn't push for any of the other test at all. She sat down with both dh and I, and explain each one but told us the decision was up to us.

Your dd is beautiful!

Thanks!!

I didn't think the glucose test was bad either. I wouldn't want to drink a whole bottle of it, but the little cup they give you is ok. Make sure it is ice cold though - makes it MUCH better. For me the ultrasounds were the worst!! Making a preggo woman drink tha much water, then pressing on her bladder - pure torture!! DD was breech and I had low amniotic fluid so at the end I was having ultrasounds weekly!! They finally told me that you didn't really need to drink that much water. It was a good thing I didn't go with a midwife (never would have anyway) My fluid level was so low that she had to be delivered 4 weeks early. Both of my kiddos were breech too. (Scheduled c-sections both times) I've been flirting with the idea of another baby...

Sorry to be so MIA this week....Rough week and I had no energy left to comment but I did lurk thru all of the adorable clothes and ideas :goodvibes :thumbsup2 You all mean a lot to me!

I went to Joann's last night with the idea of getting material to make a dress for myself and after an hour of searching around and filling my cart, I chickened out. :confused3 :rotfl: I put everything back! They were having such a fabulous sale on fabric for the kids that I decided to get that instead. I found some Daisy Kingdom fabric and a really cute Minnie applique. I also got some cute sets of matching fabric.I bought one of those Disney Make A Book sets with Raggedy Ann and Andy. I gotta make something with it; its soooo cute! So I will add 7 more outfits to my growing project pile! :rolleyes1

This is not our baby ... it will be a year before we know if she stays. We did say yes to an adoptive placement right before Princess came. We are going to see them again tomorrow. :goodvibes The little girl has just turned four and will turn five next year on our Disney trip. The little guy is 1 will be 2 in Jan. Have you seen any princess fabric with little girls that are AA on it? That is what I have been looking for.

Also where can I still get the fabric that everyone uses for Epcot? I have a little bit of it the I think it is called Hands across the world? I would really like some with the faces on it though. Any ideas? Cause I am not seeing them on Voldemort. :(

The hands across the world fabric (white background) I got last year at Hancock's. There is a blue background one out this year and I got that at JA
s in Dallas. I'm going to Dallas next week, I could check if I'm able to make it to JA's. PM me if you want me to check and tell me how much you want.

Have you considered doing an appliqued AA princess?

OK, super far behind as usual ;) Here's what I've been up to:

I'm learning to digitize so I made a super simple princess slipper applique If anyone would like it, you can get it in the free designs section at http://www.sewforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=97376

LOVE this! Thanks so much for sharing! What program are you using to learn to digitize? Have you taken classes? Online tutorials? I really want to learn to do this.

Just wanted to share my newest dress! Thanks for letting me share! I just love this site and all of the awesome designs!

LOVE this! Thanks for sharing what pattern - I'm gonna have to put that on my list now.

OH, the memories! It's very much like childbirth, you put it out of your mind, don't live the pain every day. BUT, all it takes is a simple conversation about childbirth, and WHAM, it's all there again! I don't think I'll ever forget the unbelievably long birth of my son, or the horrendous journey to my daughter. But the moment that I saw them both the first time, it all just didn't matter any more.

Anyway, here it is. Sorry the pictures are not so good, but they are better than the first set I took. :confused3

There are straps; I just moved them so they didn't cast funky shadows. And here's a close up of the three fabrics.

here's to hoping she likes it! and that I get it mailed. not that I'm notoriously late at getting cards and presents out *ahem* :rolleyes1

Oh! I forgot - you have to have 10 posts to do anything fun... that includes multi-quotes. I know... I tried a couple times before figuring that out...

The purse turned out great! I am sure your sister will like it! And, if she doesn't, I can give you my address! ;)

I would love to hear your adoption story Cindee!

The point of my story was, I had another one, and LOOOOVE them both.

Exactly, it's all worth it in the end, isn't it! :lovestruc

I TOO got my hair cut this week- wednesday actually and I love it! Got several inches chopped.

Need your opinion- Ill be back tomorrow to chech for responses
I finished the A-line top and am working on the easy fit pants. Trying to decide if I should do rick rack or leave plain

Oh my goodness, she is a gorgeous newborn!!!

I vote ric rac! And, I love the fabrics you are using!

It isn't doubled up, it's just one layer of chiffon, sewn down the middle and and gathered up really really well!

I put the girls pettis into a space saver bag, and they flattened down really well. They are all poof, so they can get pretty flat! Then, I just took them out and shook them a little and they were fine. I'm thinking you could make 2 or 3 out of 24 yards, but I've never sewn one, so I'm not sure.

this is for a comforter set I'm doing for the girls new bedroom and I also think it's perfect for something for the hawaii part of our trip

The pants were super easy. They were from the same pattern I did for my tinkerbell outfit. The top was a little more complex, but after sleeping on it for a night, I figured it out! The only help from momma was serging the ruffles! I loved this material. The eyelet was so pretty and easy to work with!

That is so stinkin cute!!!! You did a fantastic job! Your daughter is adorable!
