Those are so cute. I love that Christams tree. :lovestruc You may be seeing something very similar come Christmas this year. ;)

I am determined to learn how to applique. I have praticed on a few squares and seem to be doing OK, but I can't figure out one thing - how do you secure the ends of the tread so it doesn't come "undone". When I sew a straignt seam, I stitch in reverse for a few stitches to secure the ends. What do you do with applique? This is too much work to simply have it come undone in the wash!

Hi there :) I'd like to introduce myself if that's OK :) I would have done so sooner but I had to go wish some folks a happy birthday so I could post a picture with my hello ;)

My name is Laura, I'm a SAHM to two gorgeous toddlers. My daughter, Gabi is 2.5 yrs old and my son, Camden, is 1.5 yrs old. They are only 13.5 months apart so I keep pretty busy. I'm always doing arts and crafts with Gabi and sometimes just for me. I love photography and do lots of it too :)

The last time I went to Disney World was in 1998 for my honeymoon. I'm excited to say I'm going back for Gabi and Cam's first trip and my 10 yr anniversary this September. I plan to make some cute stuff for the kiddos to wear.

Those are some very cute kids. I've made a couple of those pinafores. I should dust off that pattern before they've completely outgrown it.

My 10 yr anniversary is in September too. And we went to Disney World for our honeymoon.

What I do is set my machine on a tiny straight stitch, stitch a few, then reverse back to my starting point, then switch to my zig zag stitch and go over my tiny straight stitches. When i end, I just go back to a very tiny straight stitch and do a couple fwd and a couple in reverse (because they are so tiny it is hard to tell which direction I am going  ) I learned this the hard way :sad2:

I pull the front thread through to the back of the item I am appliqueing. Then I tie the two ends together. Does that make sense?

I saw this on my email this morning!
Another great creation from one of my FAVORITE designers!
Love the nautical looks that are featured!

I agree! And what a great deal, you get so many different looks with just one pattern! I am definitely buying this one! It is just too cute to pass up! I had a question for you about your patchwork skirts! When you say you double them each tier, you make each square double? What I mean is, if your first tier has 4x4 squares then your next tier would have 4x8 squares? I am a little confused I guess! TIA for your help!

I was going to say the exact same thing as Jeanne. This is by far the best method I've tried! I used to zig zag forward and back a few stitches. But, that didn't work at all. Then, I tried bringing the thread to the back and tying. That took me FOREVER and they still came undone in spots! So far, none of the appliques I've done with the method Jeanne describes have come unraveled at all! It's easiest if you have a digital machine. You just set it to zig zag at a width of 0 and the length you usually use for applique (I use .02 or .03). Then, you stitch forward and back a few stitches and just widen your width and off you go! Do the same at the end.

Thanks! I tried to pull a thread through to the back, but pulled out a few stitches somehow. I think I'll try both and see which works best

TERESA- I just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU for your bookmarks! I use them ALL of the time! Thanks again for all of your hard work keeping them updated and organized!:flower3:

No problem!! :thumbsup2

I think your patterns are great! I like how you include a lot of pictures on YCMT. Some of the patterns for sale, you can't even tell what you're buying!

I say the laundry can wait!!

Has anyone used Carlas "Easy-Fit" Pants for Dolly and ME! (BOYS, too!) pattern?

I was just going to ask the same thing! I like the look of them with the new top and dress pattern! I was thinking of getting both, but didn't know how easy the "easy fit" pants were to make!:rotfl:

Were you thinking of the A line pattern?

here is what took me 5 hours but 3 days to make. I only worked on it during naptime. I like it and so does she.

Completely off topic but I've got a question. :) We just installed laminate flooring in our living room. I bought a swiffer to clean it but the flimsy thing broke last night! I had it for a whole week! GRRR.... anyway, what do you use to clean your laminate? I'm thinking of the shark steam mop. Any opinions???
