Cute! That's one thing I did not like about the Butterick pattern, that looks very nice with the straps.

You know, to be sappy for a moment, you guys are really the best. More than once I mentioned having a problem finding a certain fabric and someone has pmed me offering to send it. I really appreciate the sense of family here and I've had a rough patch socially and this place keeps me sane (and thinking maybe I am not crazy after all). The people on this thread have been nicer to me than people in real life, including the pastor from my old church, so thank you.

Anyway...here is what I made with the fabric sent to me. I copied mytwotinks and tried gauchos. I think they turned out great. I need to tighten the elastic around the waist, they are so heavy they slide right down her skinny hips and are more like low-riders! I will definitely do them again, maybe as capris. Jacob had a soccer tournament this weekend and she got lots of compliments today from the moms. The shirt is from Wal Mart and I got the bling from the sewing expo I went to. I attempted to make some matching bows, but they look a little too "handmade" if you know what I mean.

Aww, we like sappy.

I love the pants!!! Megan looks adorable!

I got behind and had to play catch up today. There were some cute things posted this weekend!!!

You guys are on a roll today! I went fabric shopping. I went to Joanns and then I was at Walmart for something else and of course had to walk down the fabric aisle. My lame walmart with half an aisle of fabric and hardly any notions had the Hannah Montana fabric! :yay: They also had a Tink I hadn't seen (except maybe on here ) and the blue Ariel fabric I have been looking for.

Okay, I had a big old post going and I bumped something and it disappeared, so here is my abbreviated catchup. Sorry if I miss anything!

LOVE Meghan's ruffle pants. I am totally making some of those for Lily (eventually).

Elisa, love the AK outfit and am so jealous of your photo backgrounds. The plexiglass looks cool too. Sorry about Ireland's ear infection1 Those hurt! And Luke is fascinated by your siggy! He could watch it all day long! :rotfl:

twob4him, cute googly chick outfit!

Georgia crackys me up with the Dora shorts! :rotfl:

Tom, I love Leighanna's latest! I wish I had that pink and red dot fabric! And that pattern! And while I'm at it, your talent! :lmao:

Lori, cute Buzz outfit! I wish I had some fabric to trade you for Minnie Dot! And when did Nicholas grow so much? I love the picture of him laughing!

sohappy, your boys are ADORABLE! Love their hair and the Captn. Hook outfit!

daisylou--cute bag! I love the gnome fabric!

TSNCS, love the Ohana shirt! I soooo want to make an Ohana outfit and I am totally not going back there for years! :sad1: It just wouldn't work for Disneyland!:rotfl:

Flea, cool sewing table! How would it be to only have to turn my chair to go from sewing machine to serger! And you are reminding me that I am supposed to be cleaning and organizing my craft/sewing room right now!:scared:

I love the gauchos! They look great with the t-shirt too.

I totally get the social thing. I sometimes have to just really pull back and focus 100% on my family when those situations get to be too much. It's hard enough to keep things running smoothly with a husband and kids. I don't need to add a bunch of outside stress to the mix. I have had situations where a friend is taking so much of my energy that my family isn't getting the attention they deserve.

I hope everything smoothes over for you. I have used sewing to escape and focus on something else when life is wearing at me. It helps a lot to have something productive to focus on.

Whew, I'm all caught up and I just haven't been reading for what, 24 hours...

Delaney has influenza A, I had no idea you could figure that out these days, apparently you can grow it from snot, you learn something new everyday, that's my new thing for today. She's been sick since Friday night, I was surprised that she fell asleep without giving me a fight, now I know why. Apparently this new medicine Tamaflu is fabulous because Delaney is now perky and running around the apartment.

I'm actually made notes as I was catching up.

Tom, Delaney's very excited about the outfit.

jham, I love those outfits! I think the strawberry one is my favorite.

utahmama I love the peasant top and pants. They are gorgeous!

t-beri, I hope things get better for you and that Lily is feeling better.

eeyore, your Tink outfit is fab!

tinka-belle, your outfit is really cute, is that the Daisy Kingdom fabric? I've got the two patterns that go with their new fabric but can't find the fabric yet.

daisylou, your gnome bag is gorgeous! I love that print.

I'm hoping I can keep up this week. I've got a volunteer gig going a couple of days this week. Delaney is supposed to have school pictures on Tuesday, we may just go for pictures so she doesn't infect the world. The doc said she may be fine by Tuesday and to just watch her fever.

I've got to finish up tagging this stuff for the sale. I've got to bring it all in tomorrow evening after I work. I'm just hoping to get it all on hangers and get at least half of it tagged tonight. That way I can look for more stuff tomorrow and see how much I can get rid of, I'm hoping to ditch a lot.

I am trying to catch up on what I missed while I was sewing before I go to bed.

I love the chick with the googly eyes! Who cares if he is a little crooked, he's got character! Great job, that is too cute.

hahaha Looks like I will have to make another pair. This is how the conversation went.

Me: Georgia those are not for you silly.
Georgia: They are now
Me: Georgia hunny, they don't fit you in the bum bum or the waist
Georgia: But actually mother, they do, see (bends over to show me her butt)
Me: Yes I see, Can I make you another pair that might fit you a little better, please?
Georgia: Of course you can, silly. But I still get these , RIGHT????

Hahaha so yep she has those. and now I have to make another pair that actually fit her in the waist. She loves the way the legs fit.

Anyone know of a good pattern for those type of shorts?

I bet Georgia and Megan could have quite the conversation. I use an easy shorts pattern but they do not fit close to her leg. That's what she likes about them?

Those turned out super cute! And the fabric totally reminds me of Florida! CUTE! I totally agree with you about everyone here...the nicest people ever...makes you wish we could all get together and go to lunch or something, huh? :yay:

Thanks! When we first moved down here and were looking at houses 75% were decorated in these colors. I was horrified at first, but you get used to it. I wish we could all have lunch!

I really love those gaucho pants! They are very, very cute. I'm loving the shirt too - totally looks like a boutique purchased outfit!

Thanks! She loves them too.

Your boys are gorgeous and you did a great job with your pirate hook. It looks like it was really hard to make.

I know what you mean about this thread being a little family :grouphug:

Those are some awesome gauchos! Those are Dancin' pants! Well, after you tighten the waist ;)

Yes, I kept pulling them up on her, the crotch was between her knees!

Cute: I have never seen fabric like that before. Nicholas' hand must be like our Scrappy dog, always in the picture!

That is even cuter on! What a great set.

I love that bag! I bought a bag pattern but with the kids there is always something for them to sew. I'll have to try it, because yours is great.

That is beautiful: I love the flower detail. I bought Lilo looking fabric and we are not going to O'hanas: is that weird?

Aww, you're going to be so organized now! Congratulations!

Such cute stuff tonight....And I just love the flamingo outfit...Florida looks so sunny and warm. I've about had it with the weather here. I have a fever and I am sooo tired though I managed to do practically nothing today. I was meandering through the orginal thread...now that they are back...and I found my first post.... it was June 7th #1690! I remember finding this thread only a few weeks before we were leaving to go to Disney. Darn, I wish I had a Disney trip to plan. :guilty: OK sorry for the rambling ;)

If I tell you something, will you promise not to get mad? I got sunburned today. Bad. At the soccer field, I remembered sunscreen on the kids and my face and totally forgot my legs. They are bright red.

I had a scare tonight....Ireland woke up from her afternoon nap SCREAMING!!! All of a sudden her ear was hurting her. She just held her head and screamed and screamed. She wouldn't let me look in it. She was fine right before her nap and even went in the pool. She didn't get her head wet, so I knew it couldn't be just water in her ear. Ireland is NOT a cryer. Last year, she broke her toe and walked around Epcot all day, and at night, she finally told me that her toe hurt...she doesn't usually cry when she's in pain, she rides it out. I knew I had to take her to the doctor, but where to go on a Sunday night at 5PM....ick...the ER!! So off we went, luckily a doctor that I'm friends with was there and we were in and out in no time...he got her a big syringe of something...and within 2 minutes...it was Goodnight Ireland. She stopped screaming and fell asleep. I had to carry her 45 pound body out to the car...it wasn't pretty..LOL. Anyhow, Miss Ireland is sporting her very first ear infection..she's in bed and I have a feeling that she won't be up until the morning... Wish me luck..I have to keep her home until at least Wednesday...so much for doing any more sewing...
By the way, I decided to do Wendy as the other panel on the skirt, and she's almost finished!

Poor Ireland, I hope she feels much better tomorrow. I can't wait to see the finished Peter Pan!

OK, seriously, some SUPER cute customs have been posted lately! I SO need to bust the machine back out and get my sew on! LOL!

My interview on Wednesday went ok, not great. Not sure if I want the position now. The salary sounded nice, but it was way more commitment than I thought it would be. I'm just not sure I want to be that committed while the kids are still so little.

Although, DS is not so little anymore! His 5th birthday was today! And let me tell you, he is WAY excited to be a "whole hand" as he says! We had a Star Wars theme. I'll post a photo of the cake after I download the pics. I copied an idea I saw after I googled star wars cakes.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Good luck deciding about the job. I know you'll figure out the right decision.

Aww, we like sappy.

I love the pants!!! Megan looks adorable!

I got behind and had to play catch up today. There were some cute things posted this weekend!!!

I know you and Heather like sappy, I usually do not. But I felt it today, so there!

LOVE Meghan's ruffle pants. I am totally making some of those for Lily (eventually).

I can totally see Lily in gauchos: you will have to make her some!

I love the gauchos! They look great with the t-shirt too.

Yeah, I have probably used sewing too much, but Megan appreciates it. Things are getting easier and part of the problem is that I am standing up for myself (good) which is creating conflict (bad). I just need to get over that I can't make everyone happy and I don't want to.

Hey, I made a peep! I worked on an Easter dress and appliquéd a bunny peep on it. Hopefully I finish tomorrow to post pictures.

Do you have a night lite pediatrics or an after hours pediatrics near you? They are GREAT (we've used both as my son is prone to ear infections etc) and they aren't any more $$ than a normal co-pay for a Dr visit. Night Lite is run by florida hospital btw!

I am finally got a new computer    So I can read this thread with out my computer freezing up and I can now see the pictures :) there are way to many things for me to comment on, but please know that I think all of the customs are great.

I am working on a few things right now. I still have to finish Katie's table. I am also making a double layer ruffle skirt for her birthday party this weekend. I have an easter dress to finish and a few new things for upcoming trip. Katie is SOOOO excited to see Mickey. When I ask her if she wants to see "rella" (that is what she call Cinderella... actually what she calls all dolls including Dora ) she says "NO! I want to see my Mickey Mouse!". She will have a custom to wear to the MK, a spare pair of Minnie dot pants and mickey head appliquéd tee for the diaper bag as well as a new "rella" dress to wear to dinner at 1900 Park Fare. I am going to be busy for the next few weeks:)

Since I have a new computer I will try to catch up all of the customs I have made over the last few months. I will have to start at Christmas so bare with me. I will try not to post to many pics :rolleyes1

I made this dress for Christmas Eve night. I embroidered a Santa on the bib. She got a lot of compliments on this dress and each time she would smile and say "my mommy make me that dress" :goodvibes She is trying to twirl.

Picture3108008.jpg

katie wanted a pink princess dress so this is what she got! Pardon the mess this was New Years Eve and she was partying :) She was having to good of a time for me to change her.

Picture3108096.jpg

This is one of the dresses I made Katie for Valentines day. The skirt would have been fuller but my serger ate part of it:) I had to post this one of her wild hair and her red boots. She LOVES these red boots. She puts them on and says "I'm a cow boy"! I love that girl :lovestruc I will also add she almost always wants to stand on the fire place for her pics. It's her stage.

Picture3108102.jpg

This is Miss Katie in her Buckeye tutu and the bows I made her. She as saying cheese in the picture. She was a hit at the zoo in this.

Picture3108135.jpg

These are my other kids :) I really do have 4 even though I usually only post Katie. The older kids just will not wear customs :confused3 Sorry they are not all looking in the same direction. Someone yelled O-H as they walked by and as all Buckeye fans know you must yell I-O immediately even if mom is taking a picture. This was the day of the national championship game.

Picture3108130.jpg

This is a dress I made for the daughter of my cousin. The bear dress I cheated on, since the overalls already had the cute appliqué. The pooh dress is for Katie since I love pooh. She has no clue who he is. I can not get that girl to watch television. She is far to busy :)

Picture3108223.jpg

Picture3108224.jpg

The last few pictures are just birthday pictures of Katie. She turned three last week. I made her cake after being inspired by this thread. I have not decorated a cake in years. I think it turned out very cute. She loved it and freaked out when we cut it. She wanted to keep it. She has a pizza face and her bow doesn't match... sorry :) She dresses her self now.

Picture3108306.jpg

Picture3108287.jpg

And just because I know you will all understand... Katie in her "custom" outfit. All the time spent sewing and the money on gymboree to keep that girl looking like a million bucks and this is how she dresses herself. LOL! There was no snow in site.

Picture3108247.jpg

Sorry about all of the pictures. I hope they are all rotated. I promise I rotated them in photo bucket. Have a great night everyone.

I also resized so if these are showing up huge let me know and I will shrink them again.

That is so funny that you said that to sugarbees because that is EXACTLY what she said to me when she moved to Florida! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I just remember expecting EVERY house to have the fake flamingos in the front yard...I must say, I was disappointed....

Seriously had the SAME thing happen to ME when I was five...was totally fine...frolicked in the pool, ran around with my sisters, climbed some trees...went down for a little nap and woke up screaming my head off! I remember it very clearly. It was wretched. Ear pain like that is just the worst of the worst. I remember praying that God would make the pain go to my leg or my foot anywhere but my ear! It's gotta be bad when a five year old is begging for the pain not to leave...just to go to another part of her body!!!

SO...I feel for Miss Ireland!!! I hope she'll feel better in the morning.

Thanks too for the Pirate Cruise advice!!! I was thinking that it may need to be something that can get dirty. I may just send them both in jean shorts, add some skull and cross bones patches, some mickey head pirate tees and call it done!!

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes for Ireland's ear!!!

I hope everything works out with the job. :goodvibes Sounds like a tough decision.

I didn't realize Caleb (did I get that right?) was turning 5. He and Tessa are almost the same age, she'll be 5 on the 19th. (And so as not to confuse anyone, Tessa is my niece).

I don't need to add a bunch of outside stress to the mix. I have had situations where a friend is taking so much of my energy that my family isn't getting the attention they deserve.
That's why I don't have any friends! Just family and my real/imaginarey internet friends! :thumbsup2

I love all the outfits!!!! Great job. Katie is just so cute!!!! It's nice to see your other kids too!

Now, if we could just get adoption stories out of you!

The girls and I went to the "My Little Pony, Live On Stage, World's Biggest Tea Party" yesterday. I had allready made Lydia a skirt last summer, but Arminda really wanted something too. So, I whipped her up a tween flare skirt. Really, it was very whipupable! I LOVE this pattern, it was one hour from pinning on the pattern to final stitch! :lovestruc

I didn't get any real good pictutres of the outfits, but here are some we took at the show:

Corey didn't want to go with us :confused3 He said that he found the full size My Little Ponies slightly freakish! :rotfl2:

What??? You said you wanted another picture??? OK!
DSCF2466.JPG

I didn't see any other kids there in customs. :confused3 But, lots of people stopped us to tell them how adorable they were. :lovestruc

Forgive the wrinkled skirts, they were neatly pressed when we left home, but an 1 1/2 ride in carseats wrinkled them all back up!

DD wore her Pirate outfit tonight when we went out for pizza and then to Wal-Mart. People kept looking at her and one time a little girl kept watching her and DD looked up at me and said "Mom, that girl keeps looking at me. I bet she likes my dress." :rotfl2: She kept skipping everywhere she went. I guess she must have felt kind of princessy.

Hi Everyone,,,

Such cute outfits being sewn lately!!! I love them all!!!

Does anyone have a picture or pattern of a cute tote bag they made? I have some of the pink/brown Michael Miller Eiffle tower fabric, and regular brown and pink fabric to match - just not sure how to sew it all together to make it look really cool!! Its for my 16yo DN Bekah.....any ideas would be great!!

THanks so much, Wendy

I think I mentioned this, but I did a basic tote bag with shabby chic type fabric using a Simplicity pattern. I should have saved my money and just used the tutorials at craftster.org.

Seriously, take a look at their purse and bag forums there. Lots of great ideas.

Oh, I am still working on pirate jammy pants and a pillowcase for my only son. Not much progress. lol

I am now teaching kids to sew and to dance hula. You all have inspired me. :cloud9:

Adorable outfits! :thumbsup2

Hey, now I see customs as a legitimate tax deduction in education...:lmao: :lmao: ..It builds their confidence and self-esteem.:rotfl2:
Is there a Sewing Guild Lobby in DC? :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: Nana

There she is: I've missed seeing pictures of your little cutie. She looks adorable in her customs, and when she dresses herself! All the kids dressed up in the Ohio State gear look great too, I love that picture where they all yelling, I O. Cute!

That is so funny that you said that to sugarbees because that is EXACTLY what she said to me when she moved to Florida! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

LOL! I didn't know you lived in Florida. Or if I did, I forgot!

I'm sorry, I don't think Megan will be seeing these pictures or she will be eternally hounding me to go. I didn't even know there was a My Little Pony show. The girls look great in their customs (of course!) and look like they had a blast. I love the ribbons going down the skirts. Pinkie Pie is Megan's favorite too. :)

I spent the weekend working on some sewing that I just wanted to get done. I made my 5 y/o DS a cars outfit (because he loves the cars characters), & I made my DD a dress & me a top. I want to do so much more!

I haven't put the buttons on the shirt yet, but I am looking for just the right ones.

DD is only 9 months old, so the face had to be cut down alot.

I just really like this fabric. This doesn't really look like a top, but it is.

I didn't have time to get the model in the pictures.

By the way, I decided to do Wendy as the other panel on the skirt, and she's almost finished!
That is scary! glad she is better now.

TOM - thanks for the answer about the Anna dress. I'm glad to know what the difference is between it and the Butterick pattern. I think I may take the Butterick and try to modify it to make it like the Anna. I think it's doable.

I wish I could draw and show you how to make the pattern your self. I know you can do it. The problem with adapting the simp. apron dress is that the neck hole will be too wide and the straps will fall off all the time.

I took my button on the shoulder jumper dress and just used the bodice piece. Then I drew 2 lines angled outward on some newspaper to make the piece longer and wider so it would wrap around.

Cut 2 on fold.

Then, cut straps for the shoulders and ties for the back. I don't know about you guys, but the Anna says to make ties for under the dress in front and the Simp. version sayd to make a button placket. I used one big fat metal snap. It never gets lost in the wash and it never comes undone.:thumbsup2

You can make it fully lined with a little strategic sewing and a slit for turning, or just cut a bodice lining. It's up to you!

You can do it!!!!!

You might also want to check out banberry place website under information and sewing guides to see if they have any hints about construction.

HTH!!!
