I love that fabric. Did it come from :wizard: ?

Last night around 1 am I started making a dress for DD. This is the finished product. This is my take on the whole pirate diva thing.

S2010079.jpg

This is the back. The middle is supposed to look like a pirate map.
S2010078.jpg

And this is the front. I sure hope my Diva likes it.
This is for her to wear to WDW.

OMG DO you know how much Georgia would love that. She was walking in when I was looking at it and I had to close down for a second and give up. hahaha She would have demanded it! I have not seen that fabric around here at all, so her time she would have wanted it would have been um hard to meet. I will have to look into that one.

what pattern did you use for it?

How cute. well at least you make broken bones look cool! hehe

I was going to wait and show you the finished outfit, but it might be next year before I ever finish it...

That sheet is cute. I totally agree about second hand sheets.
Love Peter and Hook.

Have you thought about doing Tiger Lily, or one of the Lost boys, wendy.. or John and Michael. Nanna would be cute too! Ok enough from me. haha Peter is HUGE in this house.

I finished a couple of more things for Leighanna.

This is the Farbenmix Anna pattern. Leighanna really likes it. She wore it to church today.

Very similar to the Butterick 5019, but this has straps and a bodice lining so you don't have to use bias tape.

Those are so cute. I really am going to have to pick one of those up and try for Georgia.

Is this the new simplicity daisy kingdom pattern? I love it, and I did buy this pattern. I was wondering what to do with it!

Yes, it's the new one, I've had it completed for a while, but haven't taken pictures of it.
The two things I would change...I would make the tiers longer, so the skirt is fuller, and I would also add a tier to make the dress longer. Also the elastic guide is a little off, so after I made it, I had to rip it apart, and tighten the elastic..:headache:
I think it would be a great pattern for any fabric, and even though it's not my favorite..it came out okay.

ANYONE KNOW... ok now that I have you looking hehehe.

Does anyone know who makes a really I mean super simple swimsuit pattern for Georgia? She requested I make her one this year not buy it!

I love these pants and the more I see them the more I want them (for me - is that wrong??)

And that top is cute :)

THey are sooooooo cute - is there a pattern out there for them, or did someone get creative??? Are they hard to make????????? LOVE THEM!!!!

Thanks! I just too the shorts pattern from the simplicity sewing for dummies (peasant top, twirl skirt, capris and shorts) and added two ruffles like you would for a twirl skirt. I think mytwotinks did it first and I just copied her. I think next time I will try capris because it took two whole yards and is a little heavy.

Flea, I was thinking the same thing! They would be cute on an adult!

Elisa, I can't wait to see your white background, very professional looking pictures. And the outfit's cute too, I almost bought that animal print the other day.

there is a simplicty pattern swimsuit. but I have to say swim lycra fabric is super expensive, hard to work with and an overall PITB to get the bottoms right. in the end it may be better and cheaper to but one! JMO

When I layed the outfit on the ground, the little chickie (which I appliqued crooked) eyeballs rolled up....nice, a chickie with an attitude! :rolleyes1

And of course photobucket didnt rotate the pic...:headache:

Cute! I like the little googly-eyed chick.

I really like that. Bias tape & I don't usually get along very well.

ok in the spirit of all you helping me in getting the minnie dot fabric that was from hancocks!!!!!!!! I have 8 yards of the minnie dot fabric from walmart. I am not a huge fan of the lighter red. I like the dark red style from hancocks etc. so who wants to trade there 4 yards of fabric for the 8 of mine. I am looking for the blue dancing cinderella fabric, green buzz lightyear fabric,..

let me know everyone!!

Lori

Just a quick FYI - if anyone is looking for the purple princess toile - they had it at Hobby Lobby the other day. princess:

I took some time away from sewing and made DD some bows. I got to thinking while I was making the bows how silly DD is. When she was a baby up until about 2 years ago she hated to have anything in her hair or on her head. Now she asks me all the time when am I going to make/buy more bows. Odd how they can change so drastically. Anywho here are the bows. The black and pink one is to go with the pirate outfit that I made, the egg one goes with DD's Easter dress and the green are for St. Patrick's day. The kid's have to wear uniforms to DD's school so bows are all we can do so she will have green on.

S2010080.jpg

Love the hairbows. When did your DD start wearing hairbows again? My DD2 refuses to have anything in her hair right now. So I'm glad to hear there's hope for me. I so want to make hairbows but she doesn't want them in her hair.

Is that what it is actually called - sewing for dummies, if so where did you purchase it??

TIA

Super cute and great fabric! I've heard those patterns are a bit on the difficult side..is that true? I am in LOVE w/that outfit!!!

There are a few pages to catch up on since I have been working the past few days. So remember those baby pants with not elastic I had??? Someone has found them and look what I came home to yesterday....
Dorababypants.jpg

hahaha Looks like I will have to make another pair. This is how the conversation went.

Me: Georgia those are not for you silly.
Georgia: They are now
Me: Georgia hunny, they don't fit you in the bum bum or the waist
Georgia: But actually mother, they do, see (bends over to show me her butt)
Me: Yes I see, Can I make you another pair that might fit you a little better, please?
Georgia: Of course you can, silly. But I still get these , RIGHT????

Hahaha so yep she has those. and now I have to make another pair that actually fit her in the waist. She loves the way the legs fit.

Anyone know of a good pattern for those type of shorts?

Super cute! Silly girl!

Cute! That's one thing I did not like about the Butterick pattern, that looks very nice with the straps.

You know, to be sappy for a moment, you guys are really the best. More than once I mentioned having a problem finding a certain fabric and someone has pmed me offering to send it. I really appreciate the sense of family here and I've had a rough patch socially and this place keeps me sane (and thinking maybe I am not crazy after all). The people on this thread have been nicer to me than people in real life, including the pastor from my old church, so thank you.

Anyway...here is what I made with the fabric sent to me. I copied mytwotinks and tried gauchos. I think they turned out great. I need to tighten the elastic around the waist, they are so heavy they slide right down her skinny hips and are more like low-riders! I will definitely do them again, maybe as capris. Jacob had a soccer tournament this weekend and she got lots of compliments today from the moms. The shirt is from Wal Mart and I got the bling from the sewing expo I went to. I attempted to make some matching bows, but they look a little too "handmade" if you know what I mean.

Those turned out super cute! And the fabric totally reminds me of Florida! CUTE! I totally agree with you about everyone here...the nicest people ever...makes you wish we could all get together and go to lunch or something, huh? :yay:

Hi Everyone!
Great job Tom on your latest...boy you sew even more than I do...:rolleyes1
If you have any left over fabric, Ireland would love one of those..:rotfl: .LOL. I also love the hair for tiebacks...you have her standing too close to the windows again...it tricked me..
Anyway here is my latest...I have been fooling around with a "real" background, and not taking the girls pictures in front of the orange wall or outside. I like the black background and tomorrow I will try the white..anyway, the one's of Ireland don't have the plexiglass under her, and the one with Alexis, (the blonde) does...I think I like it better with it...

SOOO cute! As always....and the pics look very professional...good job! ;)

I found the cutest fabric today...well it's actually a sheet...but I knew i could do something with it..
306660068.jpg

I also have been working on panels for my Tinkerbell outfit. Here are the first two. The bottom halfs look funny but they will be cropped when I hem the skirt...but otherwise..so far so good..
306660060.jpg

I was going to wait and show you the finished outfit, but it might be next year before I ever finish it...

WOW! Those panels are awesome! Great work! love the sheet too!

I really love those gaucho pants! They are very, very cute. I'm loving the shirt too - totally looks like a boutique purchased outfit!

TOM - thanks for the answer about the Anna dress. I'm glad to know what the difference is between it and the Butterick pattern. I think I may take the Butterick and try to modify it to make it like the Anna. I think it's doable.
