I have pretty much been a lurker for a little bit. You guys do AMAZING work!! Now I have tons of ideas running through my head- I am not sure I will have time (or energy) to do them all. Anyway, I wanted to share some pictures of my latest creation. My youngest wants to be "pirate" hook (he refuses to call him Captain Hook) for the PPP during our trip. I made this little costume for him. I am not sure if I have enough posts to attach pics yet, so I will just try 1 and then add the others if it works.

OK it worked! Ignore his messy face and hair. A few more shots

I am holding up the coat so that you can see the pants better- it isn't as uneven as it looks.

Are the pics rotated? In photobucket, they are rotated, but here they aren't. Sorry guys.

And just 2 more pics so that you don't think my little boys are dirty and messy all the time-

I finished a couple of more things for Leighanna.

This is the Farbenmix Anna pattern. Leighanna really likes it. She wore it to church today.

Very similar to the Butterick 5019, but this has straps and a bodice lining so you don't have to use bias tape.

I have the Butterick 5019 pattern but when I dug it out, it's a size 3 and my dd has grown a lot this year. DOH! I really need to stop feeding her Wheeties or something.

So I'm all over that Farbenmix pattern. Is it an e-pattern like YCMT? I totally prefer lined to bias tape so I'm going to have to get that one!

Oh, I forgot to say....It looks mahvelous! :cutie: Of course!

There are a few pages to catch up on since I have been working the past few days. So remember those baby pants with not elastic I had??? Someone has found them and look what I came home to yesterday....

hahaha Looks like I will have to make another pair. This is how the conversation went.

Me: Georgia those are not for you silly.
Georgia: They are now
Me: Georgia hunny, they don't fit you in the bum bum or the waist
Georgia: But actually mother, they do, see (bends over to show me her butt)
Me: Yes I see, Can I make you another pair that might fit you a little better, please?
Georgia: Of course you can, silly. But I still get these , RIGHT????

Hahaha so yep she has those. and now I have to make another pair that actually fit her in the waist. She loves the way the legs fit.

Anyone know of a good pattern for those type of shorts?

Heyyy, I'm working on a little Dora top out of that same fabric for a daycare girl of mine who looooooves her Dora.

How funny Georgia is!!!!

Cute! That's one thing I did not like about the Butterick pattern, that looks very nice with the straps.

You know, to be sappy for a moment, you guys are really the best. More than once I mentioned having a problem finding a certain fabric and someone has pmed me offering to send it. I really appreciate the sense of family here and I've had a rough patch socially and this place keeps me sane (and thinking maybe I am not crazy after all). The people on this thread have been nicer to me than people in real life, including the pastor from my old church, so thank you.

Anyway...here is what I made with the fabric sent to me. I copied mytwotinks and tried gauchos. I think they turned out great. I need to tighten the elastic around the waist, they are so heavy they slide right down her skinny hips and are more like low-riders! I will definitely do them again, maybe as capris. Jacob had a soccer tournament this weekend and she got lots of compliments today from the moms. The shirt is from Wal Mart and I got the bling from the sewing expo I went to. I attempted to make some matching bows, but they look a little too "handmade" if you know what I mean.

I know what you mean about this thread being a little family :grouphug:

Those are some awesome gauchos! Those are Dancin' pants! Well, after you tighten the waist ;)
Hi Everyone!
Great job Tom on your latest...boy you sew even more than I do...:rolleyes1
If you have any left over fabric, Ireland would love one of those..:rotfl: .LOL. I also love the hair for tiebacks...you have her standing too close to the windows again...it tricked me..
Anyway here is my latest...I have been fooling around with a "real" background, and not taking the girls pictures in front of the orange wall or outside. I like the black background and tomorrow I will try the white..anyway, the one's of Ireland don't have the plexiglass under her, and the one with Alexis, (the blonde) does...I think I like it better with it...

Cute! I have that pattern too I think. Daisy Kingdom? That AK outfit is smashing! I like the plexiglass too.
It is made by Simplicity: number 4206: Sewing Patterns for Dummies.
Someone told me they don't make it any more, but last time I was in my JoAnn's it was there.

http://www.simplicity.com/index.cfm?crit=1030&id=1036&StartRow=1 It is the one on the left. HTH!

Steph
I can vouch for that pattern too. It's Easy Peazy Lemon Squeezy. I've used mine to death.

Your Hook is fabulous! Your boys are really cute :lovestruc Post more, lurk less.

Well, so I made a somewhat similar set for a customer, but with our trip approaching the spring colors in this fabric is perfect for the new Toy Story ride at CA Adventures!
Here is the new twist to my tutu. you can't see but the waist band is the same fabric as the sash!

I love your Captain HooK! I made the same one for my little guy. He loved wearing it. We had an issue when I washed it though. The red fabric bled terribly and all the white accents turned pink! I tried washing it with a dye grabber and it didn't help. I hope yours doesn't do the same thing.

Great Job. Your little guys are cute!pirate:

there is a simplicty pattern swimsuit. but I have to say swim lycra fabric is super expensive, hard to work with and an overall PITB to get the bottoms right. in the end it may be better and cheaper to but one! JMO
Lori
I agree with the above comment. I say just buy her one while she is at school, cut the tags off and tell her that you made it. I know lying is bad but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Love the hairbows. When did your DD start wearing hairbows again? My DD2 refuses to have anything in her hair right now. So I'm glad to hear there's hope for me. I so want to make hairbows but she doesn't want them in her hair.
DD was about 3 I think when she finally stopped pulling the bows out of her hair. It was before she started pre-K. Now I get an almost daily request to make more bows. I have to say that I love it and I know eventually your DD will be the same.

I love the little Captain Hook.

Hi Everyone,,,

Such cute outfits being sewn lately!!! I love them all!!!

Does anyone have a picture or pattern of a cute tote bag they made? I have some of the pink/brown Michael Miller Eiffle tower fabric, and regular brown and pink fabric to match - just not sure how to sew it all together to make it look really cool!! Its for my 16yo DN Bekah.....any ideas would be great!!

THanks so much, Wendy
I made this using simplicity 3937 (it's actually a baby bag pattern but it really is just a simple tote with interior and exterior pockets). It was a simple project.

I'll try to get back here to look over the new stuff sometime in the next week.
Hope everyone is well, know that I am thinking of all of you!

We've really missed you Tifani! I hope Lily is all better soon! Don't tire yourself out too much! Clean clothes and dishes are over rated! :rotfl:

Simple is GOOD! Simple is my middle name. Heh.

I think I have that pattern. Yours is better than the picture on the pattern cover, me thinks.

I LOVE your gnomes!

Here is the shirt I made for them to wear at Ohana's

Such cute stuff tonight....And I just love the flamingo outfit...Florida looks so sunny and warm. I've about had it with the weather here. I have a fever and I am sooo tired though I managed to do practically nothing today. I was meandering through the orginal thread...now that they are back...and I found my first post.... it was June 7th #1690! I remember finding this thread only a few weeks before we were leaving to go to Disney. Darn, I wish I had a Disney trip to plan. :guilty: OK sorry for the rambling ;)

I had a scare tonight....Ireland woke up from her afternoon nap SCREAMING!!! All of a sudden her ear was hurting her. She just held her head and screamed and screamed. She wouldn't let me look in it. She was fine right before her nap and even went in the pool. She didn't get her head wet, so I knew it couldn't be just water in her ear. Ireland is NOT a cryer. Last year, she broke her toe and walked around Epcot all day, and at night, she finally told me that her toe hurt...she doesn't usually cry when she's in pain, she rides it out. I knew I had to take her to the doctor, but where to go on a Sunday night at 5PM....ick...the ER!! So off we went, luckily a doctor that I'm friends with was there and we were in and out in no time...he got her a big syringe of something...and within 2 minutes...it was Goodnight Ireland. She stopped screaming and fell asleep. I had to carry her 45 pound body out to the car...it wasn't pretty..LOL. Anyhow, Miss Ireland is sporting her very first ear infection..she's in bed and I have a feeling that she won't be up until the morning... Wish me luck..I have to keep her home until at least Wednesday...so much for doing any more sewing...
By the way, I decided to do Wendy as the other panel on the skirt, and she's almost finished!

Thanks! I just too the shorts pattern from the simplicity sewing for dummies (peasant top, twirl skirt, capris and shorts) and added two ruffles like you would for a twirl skirt. I think mytwotinks did it first and I just copied her. I think next time I will try capris because it took two whole yards and is a little heavy.QUOTE]

So from the end of the shorts/capris - do you double or 1.5 the length of the next row and then the same after that like you do for a twirl skirt?????Thanks for the tip - they really do look soo COOL!!!

Woo hoo - its so cool Leah!!! Cant wait to see more projects from your new "sewing center"!!!!:goodvibes

OK, seriously, some SUPER cute customs have been posted lately! I SO need to bust the machine back out and get my sew on! LOL!

My interview on Wednesday went ok, not great. Not sure if I want the position now. The salary sounded nice, but it was way more commitment than I thought it would be. I'm just not sure I want to be that committed while the kids are still so little.

Although, DS is not so little anymore! His 5th birthday was today! And let me tell you, he is WAY excited to be a "whole hand" as he says! We had a Star Wars theme. I'll post a photo of the cake after I download the pics. I copied an idea I saw after I googled star wars cakes.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
