Adorable and I love the flower fabric too! Don't you love it when you have to improvise or be super creative and it comes out better then you thought?   BTW, did you ever check out that website I mentioned about that dog whisperer guy???:confused3

Gee how ever did that happen??? :rotfl: I know I stared at the Futura Embroidary Machine (with the $800 price tag) and was willing it to lower its price. In the end it won out and I left without one :sad1: Garsh that machine looks so cool!

:wizard:
In my travels to Joann's I did pick up some fabric...and thread half price :thumbsup2

I realized when I was halfway through appliqueing that I didn't put the stabilizer on the back of the fabric! Luckily it didn't pucker!

I still have to finish the bodice, it is just pinned, and put on the straps. I think it has turned out pretty! Yay!

Adorable!!! I love the sparkly fabric and the decopauge applique.

This strike is great. I am getting a chance to get projects done for jojo!
She saw these monkeys and had to have them. the fabric was still in the plastic and she was yelling in the middle of the store about the monkeys. funny how one says drama queen. It was like a sign!
Both of the backs have the geometric print! and sorry about the pictures, but night time is horrible for pics. and jojo is not available till saturday!
Lori

ok, so we are vacationing in April, as you all know. And those nemo subs are awesome! So I did another little nemo outfit for jojo. Of course in my Couture Taylor TuTu.
The pics are a little bright. took pics at night w/ no natural light. and jojo is not available till saturday for modeling!

LOVE the monkeys! I'm particularly fond of the second print - with the monkeys in tutus! :rotfl: That is really cute!

I'm sure you've said it before, but what pattern do you use for the skirt? Is it the tutu skirt from YCMT?

Wonderful outfit as always! The monkey fabric is toooo cute.

I am wondering as well if this is the pattern from YCMT?

eeyore3847- I love the monkey outfits. They are adorable. My DD is the Drama Queen in our family.

Lori, love the outfits!

Is the pattern just a circle skirt, with one shorter than the other with tulle in between? How much shorter do you make the top skirt than the bottom?

This isn't what you are looking for, but these might be something nice you can make too:

I'm still looking for a pattern for the swaddle blanket for you. I thought I saw one recently...

Here is one you can buy: http://www.makethemyourself.com/blanketgallery.html
I'm still trying to find a free one for you though.
Not a pattern, but these have picture sthat you might be able to use to make one with:

Yuck!

Cadburry eggs make me gag! I can not be the only one here who thinks it's gross to bite into candy and have a yolk in there!!!!!

But it's not even like real yoke, it's ooey, gooey, sugary deliciousness! Yup, I'll admit it, I love the real Cadbury eggs.

Ditto here!!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

See! Twins again!!

So cute! I love the tights too!!

Okay I've been lurking on this thread forever and just am in awe by what you all do. I can sew buttons back onto a shirt but haven't ever sewn anything in my life but really want to try. Any suggestions on the best way to start? I have a sewing machine (won it as a prize) but haven't used it ... haven't ever used a sewing machine in fact. Should I just try something?? or Should I try and find a class?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome! I'm sure you've gotten lots of good advice, but I'll throw in my 2 cents too. First, get out your sewing machine, look it over and read your manual. Then, check out Teresa's bookmarks or Google sewing tutorials. There's lots of great information out there with pictures to help you visualize. If you feel confident, try something that interests you. If you feel like you need more guidance pick a pattern that says easy and go for it! Be sure to come here and post if you get stuck!!

I went to joanns for the sale over the weekend and this somehow ended up in my cart
th_M_14389_singercg7541.jpg

WOW! Sounds like one of my trips. I have been in so often lately getting everything I need to start sewing, that they know me by name. I hope you enjoy your new machine!

For small pattern pieces I've used Freezer Paper... it's a little stiff but works in a pinch!

Thanks! Great idea when I don't have the tracing stuff around!

Maybe there is a better way to do it, but I just put it on top of the pattern and trace with a pencil. You can see through it pretty well. I never even thought about using tracing paper and a tracing wheel.

I have a section in the bookmarks about copying the patterns.

You use the tracing wheel with fabric tracing paper (you can get it at the fabric store) You put the tracing paper under your pattern, then trace the pattern or the markings on the pattern right onto your fabric.

I've never done this before, but I think I understand what you are asking. If you want to trace and cut out your pattern in a certain size you would use tissues paper or the Pattern ease paper, place it over your pattern and trace the size you want with a pencil. If you want to mark your fabric so you can cut out the pattern you would use actual tracing paper and the tracing wheel. Put the tracing paper between the pattern and your fabric and then run the wheel over the lines on the pattern. The pressure of the wheel on the tracing paper will leave colored/dotted lines on the fabric to show you where to cut.

ETA: Oops, I see that Teresa already explained this. And we even agree! Good to know I wasn't just imagining that I knew what I was talking about. LOL!

I didn't even think of checking the bookmarks. I just assumed that what I was asking was way too basic for you veteran sewers to have a tutorial ;) Thanks so much!!!! You have all been so inspiring and wonderful to offer help. I can't wait to post my first outfit.

Hurry up and read "Eclipse"! Then you'll be dying for August 8th and number 4 to come out!!!!

Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful, relaxing trip!

These are all so cute Lori! The turquoise and the Nemo are favorites because I can't seem to get enough of that color, especially in the summer. Love the seersucker stripe for the Nemo set. What's JoJo up to this week that's keeping her so busy? Something fun, I hope!

Ohh and no...I haven't seen Teresa's dd in any Ariel skirt today either. Uh hum....TERESA??? Are you holding out on us too???

My EVIL camera is holding the pictures hostage!!!! I took TONS yesterday!!! Lydia was in "model mode" :rotfl2: She was so funny jumping from pose to pose! I love that goofy little girl! :lovestruc

Deann made the outfit for her, so she is particuarly anxious to see her in it!

JEEZ....Now I know why I lurk. 6 pages I must read to keep up. :lmao:

This board is awesome. Your constant praise makes it easy for anyone to want to continue with their customs creations. I can't wait to start on a new creation so I can post.

So this is not as impressive of the things you all make, but I am rather proud of it - I made the dress and panties (to cover diapers) without a pattern. I think they came out rather well being from my imagination!!

I would like to thank everyone for the tip to use sulky tear away and embroidery thread for applique's - though the are still not perfect - WHAT A DIFFERENCE. . . I still have issues doing curved lines. . . but i'll get better with practice :) I did the butterfly for the diapered bootie first and the duck second - so the duck came out better :)
