Okay, I have to ask...have any of you ever tried something called, "Computer Printer Fabric"???? Perhaps it could be used for characters when one can't find the character fabric one wants?????

:confused3 :confused3 :rolleyes1

I just noticed that Beth E closed the 2nd thread at 2 pm today~ She left a link to here so that was nice! :thumbsup2

BTW, did you ever check out that website I mentioned about that dog whisperer guy???:confused3

I think you were probably talking to me. My sister doesn't have a dog, and she's VERY happy about that fact! :lmao: I have looked into the Dog Whisperers techniques and I'm trying to be like him. I'm not very disciplined, though. So, I'm mostly just keeping Sawyer and the dog apart for now.
The princess outfits are adorable and your DDs look SOOO cute in them!!

Okay I've been lurking on this thread forever and just am in awe by what you all do. I can sew buttons back onto a shirt but haven't ever sewn anything in my life but really want to try. Any suggestions on the best way to start? I have a sewing machine (won it as a prize) but haven't used it ... haven't ever used a sewing machine in fact. Should I just try something?? or Should I try and find a class?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
:welcome: How cool that you're inspired to try and sew. You can do it!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: I would start with a simple elastic waist skirt or a pillowcase dress. There are some good tutorials in the bookmarks for the pillowcase dress. Or, you could try one of the "sewing for dummies" patterns.

I'm a lurker and I love to lurk on this board. You have done such a wonderful job of making it so easy for me to be a really good lurker. I've been inspired many times but have only made 2 outfits and have gotten many compliments. I gave everyone on this board credit for the outfits.

OK, I will go bach to lurking now.:surfweb:

NO NO NO, you can't go back to lurkdom now, you're out! Share your outfits, we love everything!

Repetition for emphasis!

I promised a lady at Brian's work that I would make outfits for her Grand daughter's trip to Florida, then realized they are leaving in like a week! :scared1: So, I stayed up last night to get one of the dresses done. They are eating at Chef Mickey's, so I made a Minnie dress. This is for a 2 year old. I still need to make one for the 6 year old though.

All in all, I think it turned out pretty cute! I'm wishing there was maybe a bit more yellow on it, but Brian said it looked perfect the way it was (I love my husband!) and took it to work allready!

The back. I retied this silly bow 4 times trying to get it just right to show you guys! But, it still doesn't look right!

I was upset that I didn't have any black and white polka dot fabric, but then I found this cute little flower fabric in my stash. I really like the way it looks.

How nice of you! The dress is beautiful! What luck little girls!

Yuck!

Cadburry eggs make me gag! I can not be the only one here who thinks it's gross to bite into candy and have a yolk in there!!!!!

You are not the only one...I do not like the big Cadbury eggs, but I do like the little mini ones - the one with colorful shells and chocolate inside.

Very impressive..you made that in 45 min? It takes me hours just to make a simple pair of shorts! That looks great!

Congratulations on the serger! I am hoping that dh will get me one either for my birthday this year, or maybe Christmas once he is convinced that I am going to continue sewing! LOL

I haven't made a regular sleeved shirt in awhile, but you are suppose to clip the edges of the piece that is bigger, then pin and stretch the heck out of it to make the pieces line up. At least, that's what Mrs. MCDonald taught me in 8th grade hom-ec!

That is a lot of stretching and I would be afraid to rip the fabric. The next time I make a shirt, I am going to have to stretch and make it fit!

Eating Easter chocolate or Peeps WITH diet Pepsi doesn't make them calorieless. :confused3 On a similar note, eating Reeses while on the tread mill doesn't work either. This I know for fact. Oh, and carrot cake is not a vegetable.
Do you have scientific data to back up these ludicrous claims????
Yuck!

Cadburry eggs make me gag! I can not be the only one here who thinks it's gross to bite into candy and have a yolk in there!!!!!

I'm with you, I don't really like Cadbury eggs, I like Cadbury MINI eggs!!! They're like big M&Ms with cadbury chocolate inside. DEEE-LICIOUS!!!

Yes, what Heather said MINI eggs, not those odd ooze filled chocolate ones! You have got to buy yourself a bag of those mini ones they are sooooo good!! They bring them out around Christmas now too, except they are suppose to be ornaments I believe, but still the same chocolate yumminess!

Everything is lookin' great ladies!!!!!!!!!!

I can't wait to see all the new outfits that will be finished up soon.

I've got to recharge my camera battery so that I can take some pics of Parker's new Strawberry Shortcake outfit. The only thing I have to finish up is the pink/black zebra hair bow!!!

OOOH! Strawberry Shortcake!!! Lyddy adores her!! I can't wait!

Adorable and I love the flower fabric too! Don't you love it when you have to improvise or be super creative and it comes out better then you thought?

I wasn't happy when I couldn't find the polka dots I wanted, but then I was glad I didn't!

Finally, here are the girls going to school today. They wanted to wear their princess outfits. I haven't exactly finished but......

Ask us any questions you want, everyone is very good about helping out! Check out the bookmarks, there is a whole section with learn to sew sites. And, make sure you read your manual, that will give you a lot of information. I second what Heather said, make a simple skirt or pillowcase to start, just to get the feel for it. :welcome: We are so glad to have you here!

Heather and I bought something like that at the dollar store a few months ago. It's like fabric that you print on. You can also buy iron on transfer paper, which is very similar.

I think you were probably talking to me. My sister doesn't have a dog, and she's VERY happy about that fact! :lmao:
EXACTLY what I was going to say!!!! I had a dog that did NOT fit in with our family for NINE VERY VERY LOOOOOOOOOOONG years!!!! She is much happier now in her retirement home! I like my cat. :cat: (most of the time!)

Yeah, I bought some too. Have you used any yet???

Awwww thanks!

:rotfl: Sorry I got you two backwards again :upsidedow . I have a confession (puts on flameproof suit)....I don't like dogs either (except pugs for some reason) ....I like cats more than dogs and horses more than any animals. There I said it. :cool2:

Yeah, I bought some too. Have you used any yet???

I haven't used mine yet and I don't think Teresa has used hers, either. I almost used it on Sawyer's Sebastian shirt. Does that count?

I forgot to thank everyone for your help with the fraying braiding. I'm going to get some fray check tomorrow, if they sell it at WalMart. What kind of stuff is it? Does it come in a tube or what? Is it like glue?

oh I don't read it anymore i listen to it all day Something about not having to hold a book and being able to do other stuff is very appealing to me... although this is like my 3rd time reading them again... ;) :lovestruc

I can't wait to see that outfit Bunny and peeps (somebody has to make that ) anybody???;)

This was my first time through them. I may have to see about getting them on cd from the library though...that's a good idea.

Whuuuut? You didn't clean your house or bathe? :rotfl2: I KNOW! I totally fed my family cold cereal and Eggos when I was reading those 3 books!

I did stop long enough to feed the family & take a shower, but that's about it. Dh even cleaned up after supper for me. Now, I'm going through withdrawals while I wait on someone to turn Eclipse in to the library.

hhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm peeps........I really prefer a good dark chocolate bunny, but Cadburys makes some wonderful chocolate too (just NOT those gooey eggs).

I'd say check where they keep the other fabric glues. The stuff I've seen comes in a bottle with an applicator tip. It's basically a runny fabric glue.

Do any of you have a link to an easy baby dress pattern?? I have some cute fabric leftover and have an idea for a spring dress/dress jumper for a 4 month old, and I tried to wing it, but it didn't turn out well. . . TIA for any help. . . if not it is ok. . . I'll have to wait until March to buy one (my discretionary spending is all gone after that Jo-Ann's sale :) )

I love all the chocolate bunnies...BUT, how about some Marshmallow PEEPS! :lovestruc
I have an Easter dress planned out for DD that involves a Peep.

These are so cute. It makes me wish DD could wear regular clothes to school.

I have been working on Aniimal Kingdom outfits. This is what I have done so far

close up of applique
HPIM1381.jpg

I realized when I was halfway through appliqueing that I didn't put the stabilizer on the back of the fabric! Luckily it didn't pucker!

I still have to finish the bodice, it is just pinned, and put on the straps. I think it has turned out pretty! Yay!

2beforhim, your girls are precious, the outfits are cute!

Heather, I don't think I said yet how cute tht shirt is, and it is going to be precious with Tessa's mermaid outfit!

Utahmamma, I don't know, but carrot cake just may be a vegetable. I think I need to do a scientific experiment that involves eating. HMMMMM..........
