WOW!!! That's about all I can say! I have been lurking since we got back from our trip and I have to say you all have been making some AWESOME creations. I haven't touched my machine since we got back and I feel like I need to get back in there! I think I'm going to create something springy today! I found an outfit on

that I totally want to CASE! I ordered the fabric a while back, but haven't started on it yet. I think today is the day!
I have loved reading all of the name stories too. So, I thought I would share mine. My name is Kiri Kai - pronounced totally different than it looks. My first name is pronounced like the beginning of chiropractor or Kyra. My middle name is pronounced Kay. My mom read it in a Russian novel when she was pregnant with me and loved the way it looked. I guess she just made up her own pronounciation! lmao Well, my dad agreed to it because he just knew I would be a boy. I guess that didn't work!
So, my entire life, I have been called the wrong name. I can remember BEGGING for my mom to change my name to Mary or Jennifer. But she wouldn't. She always said that I would like it when I was older and had a name different than everyone else. And, I do, but many times I wish it was spelled like it sounds. Especially on the first day of class. Yes, I am still in college - grad school (and I'll be done in May!) But anyway, the first day always goes like this:
"Keeree"
"No, it's pronounced KYRA"
"Oh, it must be spelled wrong. They've got K-I-R-I"
"No, that's right."
"Are you sure?"
"Ummm, yeah. I've had that name for 33 years! I think I know how to say it!

"
Well, when it was time to name my kids, I decided that I was going with something that was a little different, but you could look at it and say it! My husband (Brian - so he doesn't understand the obsession) just thought we could pick a name! HA! Little did he know that I would become obsessed. I looked everywhere for my sons name and then woke up one night in the middle of the night with it. Wilson Brady! My husband's g'mother's maiden name was Wilson and my g'father's middle name was Brady. I loved it and it fit all my criteria! My husband agreed because it was 3:00 in the morning. We call him Will - unless he's in trouble, and then it's Wilson - and it fits him! You know that saying "where there's a will, there's a way"? Well, he takes it to heart!
My daughter took a lot longer. My husband wanted to use his mom's name as her middle name. His mom had passed away when he was in high school. Her name was Arlene. Well, we couldn't go with just any first name using an "old timey" name like that as the middle name. So I searched all over and we didn't agree on anything (read that - my husband came up with crappy names and didn't like any of the good ones that I came up with

). So finally, I told him that we HAD to come up with a name because I needed to get to monogramming. How's that for a reason? So one Sunday, I sat down with the wedding section of the newspaper and read every bride and bridesmaid name in there. When we were done, we had it narrowed down to 3. I can't remember one of them, but the other two were Mallory and Mamie. We started talking about them and I remembered that my husband had a great great aunt named Mayme. We called his dad and confirmed the spelling and that was it - Mayme Arlene. And you know what? That name totally fits her!
