That is where we went on vacation this past summer. It was no Disneyworld, but when we asked the kids what their fave vaca was to that point they all said Lancaster! We had a great time, and it looks like you did too!

PrincessKell- :grouphug: I'm still prayin' for you and Georgia

Heather and Teresa, your SIL and Brother are in my thaoughts and prayers too!

I HATE to cut fabric, so I sat down and cut out the fabric for 7 different outfits a few days ago. So far, I've completed this one, and a matching Build-A-Bear dress. Tessa's going to wear this on the day that Sawyer wears his Peter Pan costume and Lydia will wear a Tinkerbell dress. I frankenpatterned the portrait peasant top for the top and CarlaC's a-line jumper for the bottom half. I don't have a picture of Tessa modeling it yet. It fits like a long shirt and she'll wear some capris under it.

Abolutely FANTASTICO Heather!! I love this! You are so creative!!!

My record is 4!
After Teresa forwarded a very helpful PM from CampbellScott (thank you so much:hug:). to me, I called and made Barbara an appointment with an oncologist at our local cancer center. Then, I called her and let her know she had an appointment. She seemed really glad that I did that for her. I didn't want to overstep the boundaries, but I also really wanted her to see an oncologist. Barbara is mildly mentally challenged and also deaf, so it's really hard for her to communicate with doctors. My brother is really stressed out about everything and doesn't seem to know what to do. So, I really hope they don't mind us "interfering".

I went back and read all the well-wishes and prayers that are being sent our way. You guys are so wonderful. :grouphug:

GOOD FOR YOU! I have learned (the hard way) that you have to be really agressive in your own medical treatment. I wish I had been when I was pregnant with Timothy. Once my mom was told she had less than a year to live. She did not give up and went from Dr. to Dr. until she found someone willing to try something a little risky and new and she lived another 10 years! It is harder to do when you are the one battling the illness, so I'm glad you are doing this for her and I'm sure she is too! I wish you all lived here! We have an excellent cancer institute here.

Barbara update: She just called me and told me that the sonogram they did on her left breast a few days ago was clear. The cancer they have already found is in her right breast.

That is Awesome Heather!! I think I have that star fabric is it from Hancocks? Very creative way to make Tessa happy and save alot of time!!
It is very original and I think Tessa will get lots of compliments!! :goodvibes
Just wondering if there's a record for the number of needles someone's broken in a single project - I'm up to 2 right now. I just want to know what I'm shooting for!
I broke 2 and bent one before I figured out I wasn't using a denim needle- oops!!
My record is 4!

Thanks so much for the compliments on the Peter Pan dress! Tessa wanted all of those characters on her outfit, but I didn't want to piece together a bunch of appliques. So, I got the idea for the silhouettes while we were watching the movie. The silhouettes were easier than I thought they would be! I'm working on making a picture-heavy applique tutorial. I'm trying to spell out each step carefully to make it as easy as possible for beginners. When I get it done, I'll post it here.

The link Aimee just posted is for a Trip Report!! YAY! I love me a TR!!

Just wondering if there's a record for the number of needles someone's broken in a single project - I'm up to 2 right now. I just want to know what I'm shooting for!

I broke nine serger needles in one afternoon. :)
My record is three for the back of a Tinkerbell dress for DD.

I'm very happy to hear that Barbara doesn't have cancer in her other breast and I wouldn't feel bad about interfering. I'm sure they are happy that you are helping. I imagine that any help at this point is very welcome.

Wow!! Lots to catch up on!!

Elisa - Hugs to you!! I hope everything gets worked out soon and you'll feel comfortable posting again soon.

Heather - Love the Neverland sillouhette! I can't wait to see in on Tessa.

We were at Great Wolf Lodge this past weekend too!! I am uploading pictures now and can do a mini trip repor her if it's ok with everyone.

I am sooo excited I was searching for a certain fabric and the website I was on had a store locator. There is a quilt shop within 15 minutes from me!!! I'll be doing some shopping this weekend!! Whoohoo!!

BTY - if anyone's interested, I updated my TR. Lots of princess pictures!!

Your vacation looks like what we were planning. Which hotel did you stay at with the water park? How was the Herr's tour?
We planned on doing both of these things and dropped them for Great Wolf.

Karen

They are building one of those Great Wolf places literally 5 min from my house. We are excited because they did say they offer homeschool days which would be great for us!

I am sitting here dyine to start sewing, but I can't since we start our trip to the happy place tomorrow morning. I pulled out all my material and patterns I had bought last summer, but now I can't find my good scissors....wonder if those are the scissors being used to cut hair in my house:rotfl: My 3 yo keeps cutting his hair, and everytime I think I have found all the scissors he comes out with another piece cut off........he's killing me.

In the beginning of this thread someone did outfits that had the Mickey gloves all over it....was that a sheet? Is it still available? I will become a total case'r this summer...I have zero creativity:cutie: I want to do the Peter Pan shirt for all my girls.....what did you use for your sillouhettes? Hopefully I will be sewing again by the end of April:goodvibes

Oh also, is there a way to "cheat" on appliques? Like put iron on adhesive on the backs of them or something?

Hi! The Mickey glove fabric was a sheet set that's not available anymore. You might be able to find it on ebay if you search, but I don't know.

I used a picture I found online of Peter Pan and the kids flying. Then, I printed it out and traced it to make the appliques- just out of black fabric. You can cheat on appliques. You always have to use heat 'n bond lite on the back of the fabric for applique. But, you can use fabric paint around the edges instead of sewing around them in a pinch. I haven't tried this, but some others have done it with cute results. Hope this helps!

Heather this is sooooooo pretty!!!!! You really did a fantastic job with it! I really love the Nana on the back!

Heather sent me a preview of her applique tutorial. It is really good! I can't wait for her to finish it!

hey y'all. I haven't been keeping up too much lately, but I just wanted to say I'm praying for Heather and Teresa's SIL and HEATHER!!!! The peter pan shirt is GORGEOUS!

Nice to see you posting! And, thank you for the prayers!

You're so right about having to be aggressive about medical care. I learned that when I was trying to get pregnant the first time and was having some weird things going on. The doctor said I was exercising too much, but it turned out to be a benign pituitary tumor (I made them check for one after doing research on the internet, and they found it [on the 2nd try, but that's another story]). It's so hard to know when to trust the doctors and when to insist on something different.

Good news about Barbara's left side Heather. Prayers are still comin' your way. You are a GOOD SIL!

Thank you so much!

I bought the starry fabric at WalMart. It was just under $4/yard.

WOW! I haven't been able to be on the board much, but I wanted to let Teresa and Heather know that I will be praying for your SIL and brother and I hope everything goes well with the oncologist! I am sure they appreciate your help! Cancer is such a bad thing, but it can be overcome so I will be praying for Barbara! :grouphug:for everyone!

PrincessKell-I am sooo sorry to hear all that you are going through right now! I will be praying for you and Georgia and I hope everything works out for the best! Just remember what a beautfiul child you have and I know that will help you stay positive! :grouphug: for you and Georgia!

Castle-WOW that is sooo scary! You will be missed around here, but i totally understand your caution! I hope you can get everything sorted out and join us again soon!

We are finally starting to get better around here so hopefully soon I can be back to normal and be able to keep up a little better! :grouphug: to all who need them!

make that three needles one outfit! Two within an hour of each other....I'm still working on the dress!!!

Keep thinking happy thoughts.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love this!!!! My daughter would flip! Her favorite ride was Peter Pan, we rode it over and over again!!! Can you please do a pic tutorial of this one????? Forget CASE, i want you to make us one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PrincessKell- I hope you are doing well today- did you get your rental car? Dontcha just love the smell of freshly cleaned cars?

HeatherSue- Im glad to hear Barbara only has it showing in the one breast. I hope the oncologists will have something beneficial to offer. And I agree with everyone else- you certainly do have to be your own advocate these days!
Bee-Eee AGRESSIVE!:cheer2:

Okay- that little blue Peter Pan outfit is too freakin cute!! I admire your ability to cut out such detailed shapes!!

Cheerbop- Did you get my reply PM? I have to tell you- Im not having the best day today! No gym and I had whole wheat pancakes for lunch- I just HAD to have them! Must lost 2lbs by Monday!!!!

CastleCreations- I just joined this thread less than a week ago and I know Im going to miss seeing more of your work!

I have to say this thread has been such great motivation for me. I have only made a handful of outfits so far for DD, but NOW I'm really inspired. I finished hand sewing the rod pocket onto the king size quilt yesterday- had to get that done so I could go back to working on fun stuff- like the little dress Im am almost done with......

This is my first time doing ruffles- Ay-yi-yi-yi!!! The instructions were no help at all so I just winged it. The neck ruffle is a "tube" of straight grain fabric.
The lower ruffles I pressed in 1/4" on edges and then topstitched, then gathered in the center, and despite all my pinning they shifted alot in the final attchment phase- very frustrating.
First zipper and invisible zipper- I love it- but directions left out how to finish the back of the neck, so I am going to go get a little hook and eye to sew on to close top. Wish I was better at taking photos, this fabric has the coolest sparkle to it.

Okay, she just got up from her nap so I put it on her...darn it, but its too long! I should have put it on her before I sewed those ruffles on.! Gotta say- I dont like it. :(

Now that this is done I can get started on my first Disney outfit!!
I think a ruffled top and shorts.....

You guys really know how to make a person feel good!! I'm so flattered by the compliments on the Peter Pan shirt!! I'll post the pictures I used for the applique. If anyone wants to CASE the shirt, first resize them and print them out. Then, outline the lines that you want of the people flying (I always trace it with a sharpie) and then put the heat 'n bond lite on top of the traced pictures and trace it onto the heat 'n bond.
