Disboards has been such an amazing source of information, entertainment and support while we have been planning our second DCL cruise for this summer!

We are looking to book a mediterranean cruise with Royal Caribbean in 2020. Is there there anything out there like Dis
for RCCL?

Disboards doesn't get a lot of traffic for RCI. Cruise Critic would be better - there are a few expert RCI cruisers there. CC also has specific port fourms - great for private excursion recommendations.
Agreed but it's friendlier here. :) There are some familiar names on the boards too.

I joke, but some of CC's threads can devolve into idiosyncratic arguments quickly (see: dress code). Tangents are frequent (see: RCI Pizza). Still, many of the questions you ask of DCL here, you'll find the similar sort over there.

Excursion and departure port forums are quite helpful, especially for accommodations and 3rd party excursions.

I tend to balance the idiosyncrasies there with the kool aid here. :D Seriously though, it's like any other site - you take the good with the bad and end up somewhere in the middle.

Totally agree, and frankly I like both Disboards and CC better than FB groups about disney cruising. The kool aid is super strong there.

I like that on Disboards we can speak about Disney with a critical eye as opposed to only praising it.

I agree with this. Yes, there are some folks on Cruise Critic that just hate everything / like to start trouble and there are also those that have an aneurism any time someone criticizes their favorite company (kind of like on here to a lesser extent), but if you read on any one forum long enough it's pretty easy to figure out who they are. I either put them on ignore or just pass over their comments. The majority of the folks just want to discuss cruising.

I also completely agree on the benefit of CC's port forums. I think it's one of the best tools out there for planning excursions. Those forums along with Trip Advisor have been invaluable to us over the years for planning cruise vacations.

What is interesting about Dis is over the last year or so the kool aid has started to leak a lot. When we bailed and went to RCCL after splurging on concierge couple of times on DCL, we came up with the idea of keeping our cruises under a certain number per person per night, and cruise lines that meet that. When I was involved in the pricing threads back then, guilty of starting some, I got roasted by many on here. Lately the tone has really changed, I think even some of those that roasted me may have branched out. Have noticed that some of the mods are even trying other lines.

I will have to pay attention to the RCCL board too, I can help out from the adult point of view since our daughter is now in college and is giving cruising a break. She grew up on DCL and isn’t ready to try another line yet.

This is true
@MakiraMarlena meant to quote you as well.

Worried about going on Celebrity. Dress code discussions on that board are strong. They also had a ridiculous discussion about table etiquette to the point of what angle you are supposed to set your silverware on the plate to indicate you were done with your meal. The surprising part is that some people seemed really bothered that people didn't know these rules. In my younger years I ate at some decent places, and never heard of these rules, I felt like a cave man reading that thread lol.

That is some serious “old man yelling at cloud” action right there. I can’t imagine that it’s that bad.

The Royal section here has a bunch of people who are also on cc. It’s nice, but you get a lot more experience from cc.

And I agree that the ports of call section is awesome.

Dress code discussions only bother the people who don’t want dress codes. ;)

(Would like to remind some that the kool aid phrase actually refers to the mass suicide and murder of over 900 people, a third of whom were children. Its also incorrect because it wasn’t actual kool aid that Jim Jones had them mix the poison with, but Flavor Aid.

For those of us who remember that horrible tragedy being in the news, using it so casually is rather icky.)

Apologies for the Kool Aid reference.

I started on CC and noticed the DCL stuff there was very light and they directed me here, a few years back. CC is very good for nearly every cruise line. They have member reviews of ships that I have used several times (and even written a few). I don't check in there often, unless I have a cruise booked or if I'm researching a cruise.

I've noticed pretty much everyone has their favorite flavor of koolaid. Some love Carnival that they've made it a point to create a thread here. Try saying anything bad about Carnival on that thread. DIS is no different when it comes to anything Disney.
