Most people are extremely helpful and just want to give you an opinion (that may or may not agree with what you are saying). I think very highly of the DISboards and most of the posters on it. People really want to share whatever they can, so others can learn from it (good, bad or ugly sometimes).
A very small group of others, I think are rude on purpose. I have seen thread after thread where the same few people instigate arguments. You can actually click on find more posts by this user and see negative comment after negative comment and quite a few threads they've helped close. You can either ignore these people or realize they are doing it to everyone, not just you. Some people are just very unhappy. It is about the same as a real life encounter with an unhappy person.
Ironically, one of those people posted a similar comment in a different thread about Dl people being nicer (he has not appeared on this one yet). It made me wonder if he realized that he may be bringing a lot of negativity on himself. I have not been on the Dl boards (since I have been so many times and there is not as much to do there), so I am not sure if they are actually nicer or not.
When it comes to trip reports, I have noticed people are nicer as a pp mentioned. I spent more than 3.5 hours reading a trip report the other day. Despite the fact that she posted multiple pictures (which did not come out of course) of her family on dark rides like PotC, mentioned catching up to her family who was already in line and other things that would have gotten her flamed on the regular boards, not one person mentioned anything about it (including myself).
For every poster that will give you a hard time about taking your family sick into the parks, you will probably find more who will say they would have done the same (since everyone always mentions how much they spent on their trip, so they should enjoy every minute of it). Take everything with a grain of salt. Try not to let others upset you too much, but stand up for yourself to a point where there will be no obvious winner. Enjoy the boards. I am glad you are posting!

No, wait...I meant:
And no I'm honestly not asking for people to beg me for my TR. I simply came on here dis-heartened this morning. To clarify where I'm coming from and why I felt like I didn't want to post: I had posted last week from WDW after the first two days and we had an illness going through the family. We were trying to make the best of it and plans got changed but that's ok, my point was that sometimes you can't plan for everything and must go with the flow or let it ruin your vacation. I read updates on it this morning and after seeing so many people tell me my family had no business going to the parks at all, and how dare I spread sick germs. Then I read another thread with other mean remarks. And I simply thought, well I could start my TR now, but I can't do it without including our families illness which drastically changed things. And I don't feel like having to defend myself for continuing with our plans. My feelings were already hurt enough from one post, so why put another one out there to be criticized. I felt like any valuable information I had to offer or magical moments I had to share would be overshadowed by the fact that people will continue to say we had no right to be in the parks. Make sense? I just sat and wondered why people are mean on here....it's Disney related! And I should have kept my mouth shut, as I NEVER ever say anything mean to anybody on these boards and am always so very grateful for the help I receive. But at the same time I feel like someone should put out there how disspointing it can be for others to read some of the rudeness. Some of us do take it personally and I am just one of them.
Now that's funny right there .....
I can't decide if I like the nurturing tone or helpful tone of your message about men
