Hello all, here is my problem,
I recently moved (just across the parking lot to a bigger town house, nothing big) But I did spend alot getting new things just because I lived in my last home 11 years and wanted a new look. With that said it took a big chuck out of my WDW fund (just about all of it). I had considered skipping this year after 15 years in a row:( but while doing my DD's room Princess Tiana, I starting getting the need for my WDW fix:goodvibes. So I was thinking about a quick minor trip that I could pull off driving down. We usually take the auto train but that is out with the prices now. I drove down about 2 years ago and did the pricing but a website posted here and it was grossly mis judged (quoted me $600 roundtrip and it was close to that one way:confused3). So I asked the transportation side for help there. I have stayed at HOJOMGE a few times at maybe $40 a nite and will do that again if I need to or is there something different I can do. I have food taken care of and my kids refuse to wear matching shirts anymore so no money wasted there:lmao: (teenagers crack me up). So my areas I need help in is WDW tix, Gas quote from Delaware to Orlando and hotel. Can I pull this off with $1500? It will be myself, 2 DD ages 7 and 17 and DS 14. Thanks:thumbsup2

When do you want to go and how long do you want to stay? What do you want to do there? Are you just interested in the parks or other stuff there too? With that information, we can certainly work on getting you something :)

I think you could do it. I like a budget challenge! There are some posts about Bonnet Creek time share condos here. I have never stayed in them but they look very nice. Because you have a car you could drive back and cook simple dinners, and have sandwiches for lunch. Breakfast is easy to take along even in a hotel room.

Tickets are a little harder to save on. I find it less expensive to buy a ticket for everyday then to try to fill a non park day. We always seem to spend more on a non park day, but that might just be us?

Your kids are old enough and have been often enough not to really want a bunch of stuff. So you won't spend much there.

I hope you can work it out. congrats on your new home!

I was looking to stay maybe 10 days off site. A few expedia sale have hotels under $30 right now:cool1:. So thats about $300. I looked on Ticketmania and 2 day tixs are $171 and $146 bringing the tix total to about $660 (3 adult &1 kid) We will have to vote on which 2 (my choices are MK and HS:lovestruc). We have unused US tickets that we can use also. So my big mystery will be gas. I found that sight that does the gas estimate and it said for my car from wilmington, DE to Orlando, Fl and back would be $235:rotfl2::rotfl2:. Man I wish!!! Can we say GROSSLY MISJUDGING!!! It has me filling up at something like $25, yeah right, closer to $50 and that with the 87 grade. I will have to research the speed that burns the least amount of gas and other elements that will save me money. I just got an oil change so thats done.

Im brain storming over here:rotfl:
Thanks you guys

To figure our gas budget on our last trip, I found out how many miles from our house to Orlando (about 1100 miles), doubled it for a round trip, then did our miles per gallon. I divided the total by how many miles we can drive for a gallon. Then I multiplied the # of gallons times about $4/gallon (it was much less). I had a budget of $800 for gas and used about $550 actually buying gas. This was in a loaded down 3/4 ton 4-wheel drive suburban that would eat gas. I figured 14 miles per gallon.

What are you driving - around 2200 miles, I'm guessing? At 18 mpg - very conservative (I have a mini van and we get better mpg than that), and gas at $2.65 that I saw yesterday - that's about $325 round trip for gas.

Okay you didn't say when you were going but if you are planning on going in July then you can get 6 day park hoppers from the YES program for $167. If you opted for a non park hopper they would be even less. The program information thread is here: Disney YES Thread

And the Disney Site is here: Disney YES Program

That sounds like a great idea plus will give your children something extra to do while in Orlando!! Win-Win!!

August 9th to the 19th. Thats not concrete since Im in the beginning stages of planning. I need to look into this program. Thanks so much

Open enrollment is only in July this year. During that time, you don't need to be part of a group to use the YES program.
During any other month, you have to be part of a group of at least 10 kids.
