Disaster! People Mover closed during my stay!

I'm really glad to hear it's getting some much needed TLC! And I'm also really glad that it will still be operational when I'm there, because I would be devastated if it was closed!

BUMMER...We will be there in June and everyone is bummed we love that ride 1st took my girls on it when they were 3 & 5 we have so much fun on that ride laughing and cutting up. my girls we 16 & 18 in 2012 last time we went. They had everyone on our train putting thier arms up like a roller coaster everyone was smiling and had a blast....asked where our senior wanted to go this year and guess what...we are going to WDW!!!!! so many great memories.

I understand, OP. My family loves the Peoplemover and we would be terribly upset if it was closed for our entire trip. I might suggest riding Carousel of Progress while people are in Tomorrowland, or even taking the back way to Storybook Circus and hopping on the train. I also agree with the previous poster that riding around on the Liberty Square Riverboat is fantastic. I hadn't done this in years and had forgotten how wonderfully relaxing it was. My husband and I rode it back in January and it was wonderful to see the backside of Frontierland and the other side of some attractions you see on the train. You can still sit and relax, just like on the Peoplemover, but it is a longer ride and shows you different sights.

Gonna need to find another ride for the early morning hours on the 23rd for resting. That was our go to around 4am.

I'm sad, we'll be there June 22-28. I love that ride, it's always a nice place to take a rest. I guess it's the Hall of Presidents for that now. Which is fine, but I prefer the People Mover.

I also love the People Mover! If you like Disney-infused fiction, check out "Hollow World"... It's no "Kingdom Keepers"... it's suspenseful. All the action starts on the People Mover, which is why I mention it here.

Bummer. Love to take a relaxing ride around to take a break. Love the birds eye view. It is in need of a deep clean though!

I use the train as a substitute for the Peoplemover when it's being refurbished. It's not quite as relaxing, but you can stay on for a while and get a nice breeze as you go around the park. I just try to get an inside seat so people aren't inconvenienced and go around a few times.

I am also sad the Peoplemover will be down while I'm there in June. Maybe I'll get some good people watching around the new coaster instead . . . .

My DD is going to be super bummed about the peoplemover. She is a major ride chicken and called it her "roller coaster" on our last trip!

Rode it a couple of times at the end of Feb. and it's desperately in need of a major refurbishment. Everything is extremely dirty on the ride.

Agreed. We noticed that several cars had cones in them to not be used and then the ones that we were allowed into were dirty and had stuffing coming out of them. I am happy for the refurb. :goodvibes

People mover is my only must do ride. Yes it needs some tlc but it sucks that they're doing it in summertime. The last day of my vacation is the 30th. Do they ever get done with refurbs before the date they say it will be done?

The Peoplemover iS a favorite for me too. I love the little future city model. It gives the only view I will ever have if the inside of SM (can't ride SM due to spine problems).

Oh this is an excellent idea! Then I can find a spot on the curb to eat my can of corn while I wait for the parade, do the Tom Sawyer Tree house, Tiki Birds, people watch at the kiosks and have a pretty full day! When you think about it, who really needs fast passes?

Hey now, don't go making fun of my Tiki Birds...

;-)

Yep it sucks that it will be closed for May 23 the 24 hour party... Last year it was open for that and we went on it about 4 am when space had closed for the night and all the lights were on! Soooo cool!!!

I like to enjoy my can of corn on the steps of city hall.:rotfl:

I noticed the PM seats were getting pretty ratty and torn. Sorry for the folks whose trip is during the rehab. Now you have an excuse to go back - to see the rehabbed PM!

Darn! I've never ridden this and wanted to finally do so on our early June trip.

We are actually pretty bummed about this...and the fact that the AstroOrbiter is also on refurb. :worried:

Oh man!!! I am really bummed, and I know my kids are going to be too. We love that ride. I guess we'll just have to take a ride on it via youtube.

According to the Disney rehab schedule the Tomorrowland Transit Authority aka People Mover is closed from May 3rd to June 30th!

What am I to do? From what I've been reading, this was the only ride I would be able to ride during my stay, due to all the FP+ and crowd issues! I planned on doing rope drop and running straight to People Mover, then soaking up the atmosphere for 12 hours, riding it again and then leaving.

Clearly I need a new touring plan...

I guess it got changed to 6/2/2014 to 8/4/2014
