My DH was going to take me away tomorrow night for a date. He booked a beautiful hotel so we could have one night away, have a nice dinner, a night to ourselves and afternoon tea the next day. :cloud9: It was to help cope with the constant stress right now of caring for my mother. My mum even helped him plan it.

Today, I got home from work and my mum is worse. She threw up for the first time today and is showing signs of jaundice. We have an appointment with the cancer center on Wednesday, and when we called they said that unless it gets worse to just hold out and wait for the appointment. I am living in a constant state of fear about her...

I don't resent giving up the date at all, not even a little. But I am disappointed. I was looking forward to putting down the load I'm carrying, even for one night, and to spend time with my husband outside of the daily stress of this situation.

Thanks for letting me share.

I am so sorry. I completely understand how life gets in the way of what can be the very little pleasure we have in life right that minute. I hope that things get better with your mum.

Maybe later tonight you can light some candles and play some romantic music alone in your room with your husband.

I understand what you're saying, and I'm so sorry that you won't have that short break from all of the stress in your life. I hope your mom feels better this weekend.

 I am sorry to hear about your mom... maybe you and DH can have a movie night....

I'm sorry.. I know it's hard..:(

 I am so sorry for everything, if anyone needs a big hug, it's you--your cancelled date, your mom being ill and the stress you are under

Ember, your post brought tears to my eyes. I'm sorry for everything you are going through.

I'm so sorry......prayers for your Mom.

Could you have a "mini-date" with your DH? Maybe just breakfast out or buy a great book & have coffee in Barnes & Noble?
I know it's nothing close to the wonderful stay you had planned but it may be able to clear you mind for a bit.
