So disappointed with how Disboard has changed. Have not used it for a couple years. Used to be so helpful with planning our cruises, now, way too much advertisements and can’t find answers to my question, or replies to postings.

I agree with those saying please ask. The only postings I find by you are on your cruise meets thread - not the main board. The people who are on the cruise meets are only people on your cruise. The rest of us are on the main board.

There are add-ins for web browsers which block ads from loading. Google ad blocker for whatever browser you use. I mostly use Firefox and I have their Adblock Plus loaded.

I agree with everyone else. I have only been really watching disboards for the last few months and everyone has been awesome with all my newbie and silly questions!

If you've posted on cruise meets threads, you may not get any replies to your posts. It seems like people post on them to say they are going on the cruise and then the thread pretty much goes dead, at least that's what happened to the ones I posted on. Like Dug720 said, you'll get many more responses here on the main board.

I do agree Cruise Meet Threads have evolved over the years. Years ago it seemed to be about meeting your fellow cruisers, getting to know them, planning and anticipating your cruise together. Now they seem to be more about setting up FE Exchanges. Not all, but I find a lot of people find us while looking to join FE Exchanges and that is all they are interested in.

I'm sorry you feel that way, hopefully you will give it another chance! We aren't cruising until 2020 but since we want it to be the cruise of a lifetime (so to speak) for my childrens' high school graduation I have been trying to learn as much as I can as a first time Disney cruiser. I have found this forum super helpful and only have the ad issues if I don't sign in.

Well, our OP has gotten lots of very kind answers and offers to help, which if I can help as well, I would be delighted to do so. Now hopefully lbatesetc will come back and allow us to help.

I felt like I *had* to start using an ad-blocker because of all the spammy pop-ups that were being generated by the banner ads. I got really sick of having my browser repeatedly redirect to some super-dodgy website or some crap app on iTunes.

And I agree - search the board for an answer to your question(s). If that doesn’t work, just ask in the main forum. Tons of people here who will answer your question, often within minutes after you post.

Yes, I agree. It really is a shame. I've given up on meeting other DISers on the ship because I don't want to use FB for my cruises.

And when you do find them, how do you know they are really on your cruise? Lately, my DIS cruise meet threads have been one person telling people to Personal Message them for the link to the "site not to be mentioned here" group.

I feel the same way, but my upcoming cruise has a group on FB that's been very nice and helpful. It's different than those huge FB cruise groups that are awful. People have been booking excursions together, setting up FEs, Mixology classes, etc. So for now that's where I am since the thread here is pretty much non existent. But I much prefer the DIS and the Cruise Board for the general cruise discussions and questions & answers.
