Disappointed in WDW pizza!

Is there ANY good food at Disney?? Maybe at the resorts, but certainly not at the parks. When I talk about "great" Disney food, I mean compared to OTHER Disney food. :earboy2:

I really don't mind spending the bucks for food--I just wish Disney would get some decent food at the parks. Even if they would just let a few other franchises in. DH and I were talking about this at Epcot over the weekend--there is nowhere in Epcot to get a decent cup of coffee, or any hot chocolate other than an envelope of chocolate powder mixed with hot water. Why not let Starbucks in?? Or Pizza Hut??

FYI: There's Starbuck coffee at the Dolphin. If you're in Epcot, you can get your double mocha frozen frappacino drink at the espresso stand in Italy. I actually found the best food in Epcot. We had a great meal at Alfredo's and I like the Morrocan counter service. Definitely better than Pizza Hut, which is NOT my idea of good food.

I actually have given up on Disney Pizza. Both Pizzafari and Pizza Planet were bland. My son loves the arcade at Pizza Planet though. At MK, I like Ray's and Crystal Palace. At MGM, there's nothing, so I'd go to the Boardwalk for Spoodles sit-down or Flying Fish.

I think the flatbreads at Mama Melrose are delcious. The 4 cheese is my favorite but recently tried the pepperoni(minus the peppers and onions) and loved it.
I used to think Pizza Planets pizza was just ok, but the last couple times I had it I found it to be very good...really gooey & cheesy.
I havent had it in years, but when I tried the pizza at POR food court I was very impressed. I even commented I wished I had tried it earlier in our trip so I could have gotten it more. It may have gone downhill since then though.

IMO, the best pizza anyplace is real NY pizza (the kind you fold over and the grease runs out! YUM!). Chicago stuffed pizza is good too, but a totally different type of meal. I don't consider that pizza.

Anyway - back on topic - I like the chicken "pizza" at Wolfgang Puck Express. I don't really consider it "pizza" but it is tasty! :)

as a former Illinois Chicagp pizza snob, there are 3 things you can't get in Florida : great pizza, italian beef, or pork tenderloins. my best experience with Disney pizza is pizza planet. the stuff they bring to your resort is
but it's small tradeoff to be able to walk onto a dock and buy seafood right out of the gulf. but somebody ship me some portillo's please !

This made me laugh! It actually pops into my head every once in a while that I could never leave the Chicago area because I'd wither up and die without my Portillo's. It's just not the same. I'm sure you know, but if you ever do get really desperate, they do ship beef and hot dogs all over the country. We've gotten my husband's parents hooked on beef and have to send them shipments from time to time.

That being said, I can't choke down the pizza at WDW. I've lived in Chicago too long...

OH NOOOOOOO the world would truly be ending. STARBUCKS!!!!aaaaaaahhhhhh. i go to WDW to escape from the real world. That is one of the things i truly like. While there i don't answer the phone, watch TV, listen to radio, internet. i completly detatch from the outside world. I hate seeing Planet Hollywood and Rainforest Cafe and such there. I do agree that a real cup of coffe would be nice, but please no Starbucks. Pizza at WDW is definately a low point and even Papa John's and Dominoes is better than most of the offerings there, but there are other types of foods there to enjoy.

Since it has come up several times in this thread, I thought I would rub in the fact that we are getting a Portillo's--it should open in a week or so according to DD who is seemingly plugged into these things. We have had to drive about 30 miles to get to one, so this will be good news (or bad news, I guess, depending on how you look at it!) :)

You guys are killing me with all this talk about Portillo's. Last time my SIL visited from Chicago I made her bring a big tub of beef/gravy along with the bread and peppers and we had a "Big Beef Bash".

In the last few years, we head over to AKL to The Mara for their pizza. It is not the best I have ever had, but it’s the best I’ve had at WDW. Pizza is one of my absolute favorite things, so not having ready access to good pizza is a bummer. The pizza they deliver to the rooms is ok, but wildly expensive, IMHO.
